## iStudio Publisher Reviews
  ### 1. iStudio Publisher makes it easy to be creative

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Arts and Crafts | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 03, 2025

**What do you like best about iStudio Publisher?**

I have been using iStudio for several years now and it is easy to use and intuitive. I use it several times a week to create layouts for hand bound books. It has all of the features that I need to easily create beautiful page spreads, including text flow and page layout with illustrations or photographs. Through watching video tutorials, I continue to find features that boost my books to a professional level. I can import text from iPages (or MS Word) and it will appear in perfect order so that I can print and bind my books.

**What do you dislike about iStudio Publisher?**

The only glitch I've found is likely a printer problem. I have a new printer that won't print double-sided from iStudio and I haven't yet had time to research how to solve the problem.

**What problems is iStudio Publisher solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating layouts for hand bound artist books. I would be much less productive without iStudio.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jc B. | ceo, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 05, 2019

**What do you like best about iStudio Publisher?**

what's not to like? There is nothing it can't do...If they offer a trial run to you newbees, then do it! keep the pressure on 'em! to me, it will only force the app to be better!!

**What do you dislike about iStudio Publisher?**

I cannot find any thing to dislike with this program. My intent initially was to create a PDF that i will have made into a tabletop magazine to show off my renovation at my home. Its coming out exactly as I pictured it, with excellent detail!

**Recommendations to others considering iStudio Publisher:**

Try it-you'll like it!

**What problems is iStudio Publisher solving and how is that benefiting you?**

the problem is the benefit...I should tell the author to get more money for it!

  ### 6. Familiar and Simple Interface

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Terese H. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 19, 2020

**What do you like best about iStudio Publisher?**

I love the ease and access of all the inspectors and palettes. Switching between aspects and toolbars makes for a seamless design experience.

**What do you dislike about iStudio Publisher?**

I'm not finding a simple, easy to grab invisible guideline, (but that could be me...)

**What problems is iStudio Publisher solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I make print labels for various products, information sheets, instruction booklets (of various layouts and number of pages) with graphics and images. I love the flexibility of iStudio.

  ### 7. Regardless of what I try to do, iStudio provides an easy and workable solution.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** LEO G. | DESKTOP PUBLISHER, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 20, 2019

**What do you like best about iStudio Publisher?**

iStudio is always able to provide options for my work that are easy, yet comprehensive in options for what I need to do. I push the envelope frequently and am able to use iStudio for applications outside of what a normal layout program provides. Whether I am using iStudio for work or for personal jobs, it is always user-friendly and enjoyable to use! In addition, if I do find myself in need of one-on-one help, iStudio support responds within hours with clear and concise answers to my questions. If you are in doubt about purchasing iStudio, do it! You will will wish you had done so earlier!!

**What do you dislike about iStudio Publisher?**

I have been using iStudio for @10 years and I have not found anything that I dislike. It is very intuitive, the online information is thorough, and the development team is always adding very useful features and tweaking the existing features.

**Recommendations to others considering iStudio Publisher:**

Try iStudio Publisher and compare the features and intuitive application to what you are currently using...then add the best customer support you will find with any system and you will understand why iStudio Publisher users and their clients are so satisfied.

**What problems is iStudio Publisher solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I began desktop publishing as a second career several years ago and iStudio has allowed me to transition into this new field with a less stressful transition than if I had selected a different application. I tried some other desktop publishing options and had a difficult time in following the complication instructions. My work is primarily for industry, the details of which can be difficult to understand, so having a thorough but user-friendly layout program to do the work helps reduce the stress and time on each project.

  ### 8. Great way to get basic graphic design done quickly

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew J. S. | Musician, Music, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 16, 2019

**What do you like best about iStudio Publisher?**

It is much less expensive than Adobe InDesign, and is easier to start navigating quickly within the program. For people needing a easy-to-use program to manipulate simple to somewhat complex projects, it is a great tool!

**What do you dislike about iStudio Publisher?**

I do not like how it can not export transparent file formats, such as .png. This makes some projects impossible, such as certain logo designs.

**Recommendations to others considering iStudio Publisher:**

If you are needing something cheap and easy to start designing, this is a great option. If you are wanting something for long-term commercial use, this may not be it.

**What problems is iStudio Publisher solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am an online course creator, and have thus far designed all of my course materials within iStudio Publisher. Long term, I would like to either learn InDesign or hire out my graphic design work, but for now, this has helped my business get off the ground.

**Official Response from Andy Carrott:**

> Hi Andrew, many thanks for your review and feedback.

Although File > Export Document as PDF is the only image related export option available as an iStudio Publisher menu item, you can export to other image file formats via Preview. For more information please see iStudio's help pages, or email support@istudiopublisher.com.

We plan to add a new range of image export options to a future version of iStudio, including PNG with transparent background.

Thanks again, The iStudio Team.

  ### 9. Cover the basics

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jose G. | Ingeniero de Marketing, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2019

**What do you like best about iStudio Publisher?**

It has beautiful templates. The guidelines are easy to adjust and control. As a designer, it's easy to create beautiful professional designs if you can't afford InDesign.

**What do you dislike about iStudio Publisher?**

There are some drawbacks. First, it's great to make a mockup, but I could never make even a third of the design components that myblsyputs requires. Second, for some reason, vector files are saved in a diverse manner and cannot be opened on a PC. Third, it is not compatible with PC.

**What problems is iStudio Publisher solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Facilitate the creation of models on the spot with clients. Additionally, it is wallet-friendly. I can create base designs and concepts to merge them into a great idea through InDesign.

  ### 10. Beyond basic – it'll fill a gap if you can't stretch to InDesign, but don't plan to use it for long

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Publishing | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2019

**What do you like best about iStudio Publisher?**

The pro is the price, and that's about as far as it goes. I used to work for a small independent publisher, and we played around with this to try to typeset in-house… but I would never consider using this professionally if you can afford InDesign.

**What do you dislike about iStudio Publisher?**

It's clunky; it's unintuitive – you have to click into different panels to get to different tools; it doesn't offer enough control over the page; keyboard shortcuts aren't as easy to find and use… etc.

**What problems is iStudio Publisher solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As above, we were looking into typesetting in-house using iStudio, but swiftly realised that it just wasn't going to do the job. So I would not recommend it.

**Official Response from Andy Carrott:**

> Thanks for your review and sorry to hear iStudio isn't working well for you. Tools can be selected by clicking their icons in the Toolkit, or via keyboard shortcuts. A small number of other tool selection shortcuts are provided, for example, double click a text box to auto-select the Text Tool and insert a text cursor. We've chosen to provide different tools for different tasks as many users find this approach helps to keep them orientated. Please contact us at support@istudiopublisher.com and we'll be pleased to offer more help and answer any specific questions you may have.

  ### 11. iStudio publisher the new page and application design.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mónica R. | Graphic designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 19, 2019

**What do you like best about iStudio Publisher?**

With I Studio Publisher, we can do page design and we can also create applications, produce brochures, announcements, infoems bulletins, in an easy and friendly way.

**What do you dislike about iStudio Publisher?**

What I dislike about the tool is that it is only compatible for Mac.

**What problems is iStudio Publisher solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is an easy, versatile program and with the tool I have been able to diagram, brochures. It serves to mount my own publications, designing simple pages and allows to make brochures, documents, cards, or presentations, among others.

  ### 16. It covers the basics!

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Heather S. | Owner, Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2018

**What do you like best about iStudio Publisher?**

It has beautiful templates. The guidelines are easy to adjust and control. As a designer, it’s simple to create beautiful professional layouts if you can’t afford InDesign.

**What do you dislike about iStudio Publisher?**

There’s a few downfalls. First being it’s overall simple nature. Sure it’s great to do a mock up, but I could never do even a third of the design components that myblsyputs require. Second, for some reason the vector files save funny and you can’t open them on a PC. Third, not compatible with PC.

**Recommendations to others considering iStudio Publisher:**

Spring for Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator. Significantly better investment and overall performance.

**What problems is iStudio Publisher solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It makes doing on the spot mock ups with clients easy. Plus it’s wallet friendly. I can create base designs and concepts to merge them into one big idea via InDesign.

**Official Response from Andy Carrott:**

> Hello Heather, thanks for your review and feedback.

Please email support@istudiopublisher.com about the problems you mentioned with saving vector files and opening them on a PC and we'll be pleased to help.

Best regards, The iStudio Team.

  ### 17. The right tool for the job

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Communications M. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 21, 2018

**What do you like best about iStudio Publisher?**

Value and features, great utility for the price.

**What do you dislike about iStudio Publisher?**

Would like some built-in picture enhancement tools for raw images.

**What problems is iStudio Publisher solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Newsletter and flyers.

**Official Response from Andy Carrott:**

> Many thanks for your review.

iStudio Publisher supports resizing, stretching, flipping, cropping, tiling, and changing the opacity of images, but doesn’t support any pixel based editing, or include image filters. We don’t have any present plans to add these image editing features, as we‘re busy developing other aspects of iStudio and have many new features and improvements planned. We recommend using a separate image editing app to prepare images before inserting them in an iStudio document.

Thanks again, The iStudio Team.

  ### 18. Fantastic and easy to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospitality | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 20, 2018

**What do you like best about iStudio Publisher?**

Without great computer knowledge this program is so easy to use and has been a great asset to our business.

**What do you dislike about iStudio Publisher?**

The only thing I would like is many more recent files to be available.

**Recommendations to others considering iStudio Publisher:**

Please don't over complicate the program, we don't require the best graphic design program just the most user friendly at a reasonable price.

**What problems is iStudio Publisher solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The program is so versatile, whilst we only use the basic functions it is much more user friendly than other programs we have tried.

**Official Response from Andy Carrott:**

> Hi, and thanks for your kind words. The maximum number of document files iStudio keeps in its recent documents list is determined by the value of the general system setting at Apple menu > System Preferences > General > Recent items. You can set this to a maximum value of 50. Best regards, The iStudio Team.

  ### 19. Professional Publisher for the rest of us!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alberto D. | Co-founder and Creative Director, Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 03, 2017

**What do you like best about iStudio Publisher?**

Ease if use and professional formats compatible

**What do you dislike about iStudio Publisher?**

I wish more format exports as Quarks and others and imports

**Recommendations to others considering iStudio Publisher:**

Before buying make sure your past work can be edited with the app.

**What problems is iStudio Publisher solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used to work on Quark and after working as a freelancer I wasn’t sure if buying Quark for me was going to be a good move so I tried to find something similar but inexpensive and that how I ended up adding to my pro apps this app!

  ### 20. My goto layout and publishing software

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 05, 2017

**What do you like best about iStudio Publisher?**

Ease of use and user interface. Full-featured and very cost effective

**What do you dislike about iStudio Publisher?**

I have not found anything to complain about with this software. That said, I don't fancy myself a power user

**Recommendations to others considering iStudio Publisher:**

For my purposes, and as I said previously I'm not a power user, this is all the program you'll ever need for publishing and layout. If you're like a lot of people I know and they work with proprietary files and share a lot, check to make sure you have the compatibility you'll need to accommodate your workflow.

**What problems is iStudio Publisher solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use this for laying out brochure information and proposals for prospective projects. I have established a format and work with that, as you do with such efforts. I like that it is a Mac-based program that works much like all my other graphic programs
