**Reviewed by:** Leena F. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 29, 2024

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Probably the components. They are very straightforward to use thanks to their amazing documentation. Great support, community, and documentation go a long way for developers.

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

There are not many downsides but working with the shadow-DOM to customize components would probably be one. If you can avoid having too many customizations then this is the perfect product.

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy out-of-the-box components is making it fast to develop and launch our app. Also being able to work on one code base and deploy to both iOS and Android apps is a huge benefit for us.

  ### 5. Build powerful apps harnessing existing web skills

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 08, 2023

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Ionic gives you (regardless of your framework preference) a powerful way to build an idea or concept quickly and deploy it to a real mobile app and/or a desktop application. For many applications, use of existing knowledge of Javascript or Typescript is all that is required. You can do a lot without ever having to mess with native code. Even if you do need native functionailty, a plethora of existing plugins handle all but the most customized needs.

The provided tooling works well. Updates are consistent and happen regularly. The overall quality of the framework we use the most (Angular) is excellent.

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Using Ionic in the long term can be a struggle as you build more device-specific solutions. While most of the plugins work well, they sometimes have bugs or issues that, if your team isn't used to them, are going to be big blockers.

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm speaking most from the viewpoint of the Angular framework. It provides "native-ish" functionality for handling common use cases like navigation, UI components, platform-dependent skinning (Material for Android, iOS for Apple). The provided components are overall very good and coupled with excellent Angular integration means that most of the simple stuff we build requires very little (if any) modification to the theme files.

On top of that, the base libraries really do try to make extension and best-practices something that are just baked in. CSS custom properties are one example. They definintely set a high bar for components that work well and are easily customizable.

  ### 6. Review of Ionic Framework

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Piyush V. | Frontend Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 16, 2023

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

It is very efficient to create hybrid websites in order to display it correctly on different devices.
It works very well with Vue and React and the integration itself is quite simple.
It just lets you work on single codebase for different platforms.
Also, it has got a lot of pre built templates for the ease of the developers.

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Although it has got a lot of plugins, adding them is a bit tedious process. Except for this, I don't find anything else to dislike about Ionic Framework.

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am primarily using Ionic Framework with the integration of Angular and Vue to develop websites which can work correctly on different platforms. The main reason for choosing Ionic over others was that it requires a single codebase for all the different platforms that you want to publish your website on.

  ### 7. I enjoyed the experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Leisure, Travel & Tourism | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 29, 2023

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Easy to use, awesome customer support, extensive docs; number of plugins and features

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

I had a few challenges setting up the Capacitor app, e.g. server config file is being changed when server is running - leading to it being shown in VCS. But in general you can live with it!

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps us build IOS and Android versions of our mobile app from a single React codebase

  ### 8. Iconically Ionic

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hanumantha Rao B. | Senior Site Reliability Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2023

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Its a very easy java script framework with very less learning curve. And its a write once and build multiple kind of an approach where you have the write the code once but you can build either webapp, IOS or An Android with the same code base.

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

I feel many of the components are limited to just mobile UI, i feel they can add more for webapp as well.

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Its the write one and build multiple approach is saving more time and efforts in this fast paced world.

  ### 9. Hybrid Platform

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shailendra D. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 17, 2023

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Support for Angular, the ability to preview apps in browsers, the creation of cross-platform user interfaces that function identically on all devices, and the Appflow add-on's support for simultaneous uploading to several app stores

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

It's slow if you complare with other platform.

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ionic is a powerful app development framework that enables developers to quickly and easily create web and mobile apps. Angular, React, and Vue are prominent frameworks. Installing Ionic will help you get started, or you can master the fundamentals by using our First App Tutorial.

  ### 10. Ionic Portals support Cordova setup as makes it easy to perform programmatic builds for mobile apps

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Komal J. | Software Developer, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2022

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Ionic platform enables us with a well-structured toolkit for developing mobile applications for our customers. It opts single codebase approach, which is hassle-free and convenient for our organization. With Ionic CLI, all configurations can be made quickly, and it's easy to troubleshoot application issues. Its documentation is sharp & to the point, as it helps our development team to build enterprise-ready applications without many complexities.

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Its pricing standards could be made more flexible to support more users. Apart from this, the Ionic platform is splendid regarding testing, browser support, variable popover and framework upgrades. Its requirement for framework setup is also convenient, as it only needs a Node-NPM environment.

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We make use of Ionic templates to incorporate top-notch application builds & code base scales for our customers. We can also run our application locally in any web browser, write its code & test it without needing an external simulator or device. Its Ionic Portals support Apache Cordova for android app development & it doesn't require much experience to get started with native builds & resolving issues.

  ### 11. It's the mobile application technology we rely on!

Rapid mobile development

  ### 12. Ionic is how mobile apps should have been built from day one

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael C. | Lead Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

I love how I can use my existing skills as a web developer to create full-featured apps targeting iOS, Android, Desktop, and traditional web. UIs built with Ionic look great aross all mobile devices and most web browsers.

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

It is difficult to find anything I dislike about Ionic. If I had to pick something, I'd say that the desktop styling sometimes feels like an afterthought. That said, it's getting better.

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using Ionic means that I can target multiple platforms with a single code base. I don't have to waste money writing the same application two or even three times, to get my app to market.

  ### 13. Have built over 23 mobile apps in Ionic over the past 8 years

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jedidiah W. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2022

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

We've been using Ionic for the past 8 years and have built over 50 apps with their framework, so we have quite some experience here. I'll break down our experience at OpenForge with using Ionic into some bullets that represent the best features (and why we exclusively use their framework for all mobile apps).

1. Technology agnostic - many organizations have distributed teams with different skillsets, and most organizations use 90%+ web technologies so they have teams who are familiar with languages like React, Vue.js, Angular, and more. A couple years back Ionic made the pivot to be tech agnostic, so it doesn't matter which web technology your development team knows - they'll be able to quickly ramp up and build in the framework of their choice.

2. Out-of-the-box performance & deployment - Speed to market is every business's #1 priority, and many teams are familiar with the pains of old school native apps that are built in objective c, swift, etc and then the same for Java, Kotlin,Dart, etc. It requires twice the effort, twice the worked hours. With Ionic, we've been able to build apps with 100% a single code base and deploy to both iOS & Android natively.

3. Appflow saves lives - Yes, we feel that strongly about it. If you haven't gone through the app store deployment process before, it can be a *nightmare*. Appflow syncs seamlessly with CICD & the App Store and Google Play store, and makes the process so simple that sometimes you forget it's there. That's a good thing, because it means you're not delaying deliverable dates due to changing configurations.

4. Enterprise support. We work with a ton of enterprise customers and every single one loves Ionic's support structure.

At this point, as an organization of over 30 employees, we won't even take on a mobile app that doesn't use Ionic's framework (unless we intend to rebuild). Often, we have found that it's quicker to rebuild an app from scratch in Ionic than to take on an old native app and try to make iterations.

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Honestly, can't think of anything. In the past 8 years of using the framework, the only difficult part was the upgrade from Ionic 1 to 2, but that was because Angular itself migrated from Angular JS to Angular that we know today and so it really didn't have anything to do with Ionic.

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ionic's team has mobile app development down to a science. They provide a great out-of-box experience, which makes it very easy to leverage. The framework is blazingly fast and apps built with ionic have extremely high performance.

Additionally, enterprise institutions can benefit from the language-agnostic architecture to leverage their existing development teams which provides great cost savings.

Finally, it's a blazingly fast framework for performance and their software subscriptions

  ### 14. Ionic was a crucial key in developing an intuitive, multi platform app

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David M. | Lead Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2022

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Ionic takes the pain of cross-platform development and makes it simple and easy. Its components are sleek and easy to use, and the whole app comes together incredibly smoothly. It was a joy to use and work with, and I was very happy with the in-depth documentation and support, as well as using Appflow to bundle and launch our app stress free

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Unfortunately, if the framework doesn't offer a solution, it can be a little painful to develop a workaround, but the range of components and functionality is very diverse, I would be surprised if Ionic wasn't the ideal choice

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ionic makes developing cross-platform apps light and efficient. While there are alternatives for this, I personally found Ionic to be a far better solution than any of them.

  ### 15. Ionic checks all the boxes

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Skyler D. | Programmer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Superb affinity to cross-platform capability. However, new versions cause breaking changes, difficult to keep up.

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

The plugins don't always work out of the box, sometimes cause unexpected issues. Also, testing natively on IOS isn't easy.

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Needed a way to create an app for both Android and IOS and this is the best solution out there that's easy to implement and use.

  ### 16. Excellent for both prototypes and full apps

**Reviewed by:** Mark V. | Freelance engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

The almost native feel of the app built with ionic.

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Quirks and performance issues. Only tried ionic with andular and vue, but i'm fairly satisfied with the results.

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quick prototyping. Cost-effective multi-platform app development. Professional UX.

  ### 17. ui library, project scaffold, build, native ios and android plugin library, very ease to use

**Reviewed Date:** August 29, 2022

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Availability of ready to go components and plugins for ui and mobile native functionality

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Some components in the UI library could use more thoroughly documented explanation.

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mobile UI layout, responsiveness, use of web technologies/languages to produce mobile native functioning app, project build, deploy. Yes performance increased,

Development speed & Code reusability

  ### 20. Great Experience with Ionic

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Samuel H. | Senior Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 29, 2022

Using Ionic is simple and easy to use. The CLI makes it easy to generate your project files and get things set up in no time.

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

The only thing I can think of is it's not completely native. It's a hybrid meaning it uses web programming languages but it still has a lot of support.

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps my organization to create mobile apps with ease.

  ### 21. Working with Ionic is one of the best decisions I've made

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Leonardo R. | Full Stack Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2022

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Use all my web development knowledge to publish as an app in stores. The development experience and the way the project is maintained is almost perfect from my point of view.

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

I think the prejudice that was created at the beginning of the project. Many people still think that the performance of the Ionic 1, on smartphones of the time, is comparable to the last version of it.

**Recommendations to others considering Ionic: An OutSystems Company:**

There is hardly a better solution for managing hybrid development today

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest problem I have solved is with my career. I have developed commercial and non-profit applications for many clients.

  ### 22. Ionic changed my Life

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Program Development | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 29, 2022

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

- Easy to use
- Great Community
- Ionic Team
- Perfet Infratructure
- soooo much more

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

I feel a little bit of lower community focus after the outsystems migration. It's okay for me, because of course it has to be lucrative, but since that and liam left i have the feeling of issues beeing very long often, lower response rates, etc.

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Best hybrid Framework

  ### 23. Still the best for Hybrid Apps

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** kolawole O. | Independent Freelance Web/Mobile Developer , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

With the introduction of Capacitor a few years ago, Ionic has made it even easier to build amazing apps with ease, I also like the new ionic native libraries being added and improved upon

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Interacting with some native features can be har sometimes, also, the distinction between v3 and v5 documentation can be confusing to newer users, upgrade processes can be made a lot simpler too

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Building hybrid apps for the web and efficiently deploying to the web, iOS, and android with ease. I think Capacitor can also help with creating more progressive web apps that can easily be improved and built with CI/CD tools

  ### 24. Building enterprise and industry focused apps with Ionic

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marvin M. | Enterprise Architect, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 13, 2022

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

We find building enterprise and industry-focused apps with Ionic to be cheaper and faster than having to hire and maintain three separate development teams.

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Delivering apps is still challenging and we've just signed up to enterprise support. Hopefully, this assists with the limited documentation in certain areas.

**Recommendations to others considering Ionic: An OutSystems Company:**

Probably need the enterprise subscription to get maximum value out of the product.

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Building healthcare applications on web and mobile platforms (with native experiences). Repurposing web devs is great and they gain new skills, aiding retention.

  ### 25. Ionic is a very stable cross-platform technology for developing mobile applications

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Leisure, Travel & Tourism | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

It is simple to develop mobile apps for Android and iOS using Ionic platform. The latest version is Ionic 5. The UI part is developed using Ionic which is very similar to html. The tags are very simple and easy to code. For the functionality part, we can use Angular or React which are javascript frameworks for front end development. Latest Ionic 5 uses Capacitor instead of Cordova which was used earlier. Capacitor takes care of converting the code written in Ionic and Angular or React to the native mobile apis for Android or iOS so you will have single codebase for Android and iOS so will save time and effort. Also if any native functionality cannot be written in Ionic or Angular or React we can always write plugins which can be written in Java for Android and Swift for iOS and can be integrated in the code.

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Building and running the code takes sometime also debugging the code for errors is time consuming initially but once you get familiarised it will be ok.

**Recommendations to others considering Ionic: An OutSystems Company:**

If you are having experienced web developers and want to use their expertise in developing mobile apps then Ionic is a very good platform. Also it will save you time and effort by having a single code for both Android and iOS. But additionally you will also need experience of native Android and iOS also without which you will not be able to develop mobile apps. I recommend minimum 1 Android and 1 iOS developer. Also it is very easy to develop mobile apps using Ionic and it is very stable.

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are building a mobile app in Android and iOS which helps newcomers to the city get familiarised with the culture of the city. The events that are going on in the city and what are different rules and regulations. Also where to connect in case of any help. The benefits were many, cross platform development saves time and effort of developing in multiple languages for each OS (Android and iOS) so we have a single codebase. Also there are many native plugins readily available for both Android and iOS. We can also use the web developers write code instead of mobile developers if they are available.

  ### 27. Ionic delivers on multi-platform promise

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel D. | Co-Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 12, 2021

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

For our startup, managing a single codebase for our frontend applications has made our path to the market much more simple. Ionic has allowed us to focus on getting product/market fit without requiring a large specialized mobile development team to get the job done.

Ionic provides snappy, 60 frames per second animations and easy templating with a very native feel on desktop, iOS, and Android. In fact, we've preferred certain component looks from one platform or another and it's easy to specify a class on an element to push it one way or the other depending on preference.

Appflow is a fantastic add-on product as well (we're on the Growth plan) that simplifies deployment to both app stores. We have Appflow configured in such a way that, with a few clicks, I have a production bundle ready to promote to the production track in both Apple App Store as well as Google Play Store. We haven't used the Web deployment option available inside of Appflow yet but it looks interesting.

Additionally, I have to say that build times are lightning-fast as well. We are running Ionic/Angular and love the 3-4s build times. It makes development just about as real-time as you can get.

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Ionic's "native" date picker is annoying for almost every user I've personally worked alongside as we're onboarding. However, I do see that a new date picker is in the works for for Ionic 6. We are all looking forward to a more calendar-looking date picker that will make it much easier for the scheduling nature of much of our application.

Some elements end up being hard to target for CSS customization due to the shadow DOM implementation. However, for our use case, this hasn't been too much of an issue to overcome. Of course, the advantages to this approach of encapsulating the Ionic web components likely outweigh the disadvantages.

We also ran into an issue regarding the iOS animated header. The implementation didn't work consistently out of the box between iOS and Android/Desktop. We ended up compromising on the design to get our application released. There is likely a solution there. However, it did take more time than we had to try and figure it out.

**Recommendations to others considering Ionic: An OutSystems Company:**

If you're building a business application for multiple platforms, Ionic makes it easy to develop and deploy. I'm not sure what else you'd choose that offers as many positives as Ionic.

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As mentioned, Ionic has allowed us to provide a native experience on all three platforms without the need for specialized teams, which has helped our early-stage startup focus on essential things like revenue generation.

By keeping our UI designs consistent with the web components available from Ionic, we simplified the interface (better for users) and we're able to cut down on the need for custom development (good for the business) all while providing a consistent development experience (good for our development teams).

Prior to using Ionic, the previous version of our application was using the Bootstrap framework for its UI. However, with several developers in and out of the project, we ending up finding ourselves with an inconsistent application of Bootstrap, making it difficult to make changes when needed. Ionic has afforded us the chance to write a hyper-consistent UI with templates and implementations that are very obvious and easy to maintain.

One code base, builds for web, ios or android platform

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Nothing, i love everything product of ionic.

  ### 29. Ionic provides the perfect platform to build our mobile app

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Iain T. | Engineering Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2021

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Using web technologies to build our Ionic app gives us a huge advantage with regards to sharing code across projects and platforms (app and web). We only need to maintain one codebase for the app rather than two when building native apps.
We utilise the Angular framework a lot, which powers our app, allowing us to build all the custom components and behaviour we require.
The open source community is great for plugins, and the Ionic team is always responsive and helpful whenever we require their expertise.
AppFlow is a great tool to build and publish our native binaries - we use it for every release.

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Native plugins can cause issues when newer OS or devices are released. These can often be hard to manage and debug.
The performance of a simple app is pretty decent; however, the initial load time of a complex app can be slower than a native counterpart.

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can build a market-leading app and experience with a small development team compared to running separate iOS and Android dev teams.
Ionic - being based upon web technolgies - gives us the ability to easily build any UI and style it effortlessly with CSS.

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Ionic is very closed to web development and that's good very mature components design and easy to use great past and did well. I am hopeful that it will not die.

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Some reasons behind ionic that it should be very native this is the weakness because other technologies leading on their native to hardware. So ionic need to native more.

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Actually I am ionic developer and I made many apps in ionic related to webaite in synchronisation with same api's so I am happy to be a ionic developer and want to do more

  ### 31. Great experience

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Just updating my app flawlessly. It just works!

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

I miss an option to change the default device size in web preview

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

  ### 32. Start Mobile Development Today

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dewald E. | Teacher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 09, 2022

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

The first and foremost reason I enjoy using Ionic is the ease of use, consistent UI, and tremendously helpful documentation.

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

There is quite a large dependency on Third-party packages.

**Recommendations to others considering Ionic: An OutSystems Company:**

If you're looking for a consistent, easy entrance into mobile development, and you have web skills, Ionic is an easy choice.

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's easy to deploy to any platform, web, Android, and even iOS. With the introduction of electron, desktop apps are also a possibility.

  ### 33. Solves many problems we have had with mobile app development

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Byron A. | Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2021

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Ionic AppFlow gives us a way to apply updates to our users quickly and automatically. It is very dependable at doing this. We've never had issues applying an update.

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

If you have many apps, it can be hard to find them in the ionic dashboard. They aren't listed alphabetically, and there's no search function. This isn't a huge deal though, but it does seem to be a day-zero feature in many other apps, so I'm surprised it hasn't been implemented.

**Recommendations to others considering Ionic: An OutSystems Company:**

I can't think of another framework that is as well-suited to mobile enterprise development. Even if you're an individual, it's pretty great.

React Native is out there, but the tooling can be challenging to use.

Ionic allows you to work with the framework you choose, whether Reactjs, Angular, or Vue.

When we were on our previous stack, every day was a headache, but now that we're on Ionic, my job is less about dealing with our framework and more about getting things done.

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We would previously have to create a new native file with each release, and jump through many hoops to have that file installed to devices. Live updates makes that a non-issue for the most part.

We also now have a way to apply consistent themes to our projects. Whereas previously we would have to create themes manually.

We can easily keep our dependencies updated to the latest, whereas with our previous framework upgrading could have many issues.

  ### 34. One of the best ecosystems to build cross-platform apps using web technologies

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mutasim I. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2021

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

The ability to work with different flavors of web frameworks, my favorite is React and Vue.
The support to native platforms using the new Capacitor, which makes it much easier to write for iOS and Android (and even Web/Desktop).

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

That Enterprise modules for capacitor and Ionic are not available in a transparent way, I personally tried to ask about the enterprise modules and got no answer twice! I understand there is a strategy behind this to make such modules available for big players but I don't like it.

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Can easily build our own native libraries using Capacitor
With the support of React, it's easier to engage developers with frameworks they already know.

  ### 35. Ionic is the reason we got into mobile app development!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David P. | CEO, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 31, 2020

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

The ability to use the tech stack we already know and love is what is so appealing about Ionic.

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

The speed at which changes occur is sometimes a bit hard to keep up with, but so is the nature of most modern coding today.

**Recommendations to others considering Ionic: An OutSystems Company:**

Take time to understand all the basics before jumping into serious development.

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are developing line of business and marketing apps at the speed of light these days due to Ionic.

  ### 36. Accessible, Streamlined Hybrid Development

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Being able to reuse Vue components from our existing web app and reuse them effectively in-app. Having AppFlow has also benefited our CI/CD

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

I havent found a good way to automate the incrementing of version and build numbers.

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Engaging with our readers with a native experience.

We are pre-launch still with our Ionic app, but the app UX is already better than our web UX

  ### 37. A Perfect platform for developing cross-platform mobile applications

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sibongakonke N. | P, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2021

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Ionic allows you to develop a single application and run it natively on both Android and iOS. The platform comes with UI Components that make it easy to create native applications using web technologies. The platform is easy to use and has a large community that is eager to help if you get stuck

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Deploying the application has too many steps and requires prior knowledge of XCode and Android Studio

**Recommendations to others considering Ionic: An OutSystems Company:**

This platform cuts down development time by at least 50%, you develop one application and deploy it natively on multiple platforms

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Sorry, I like everything. But the performance of the apps can be improved.

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Build multiplatform native App with a single team of developers. Work with the same language and technology for all mobile platforms.

  ### 39. Write once, deploy everywhere with Ionic

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris E. | Lead App Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2021

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

It's a quick learning curve for existing web developers. The ability to write code once and then deploy as PWA, iOS, and Android App is great! Also, using Ionic App Flow for Web Channel deploys for app updates without performing native builds and App Store submissions saves time and simplifies rollout.

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

With any hybrid solution, there are more dependencies to manage and more parties that can introduce breaking changes. For our use cases, this was an acceptable risk for the reward of developing so much quicker. Performance should also be considered. Ionic apps run in a web view, and this is entirely acceptable for most apps. However, some apps may require the most optimal bare-metal performance, and in this case, a native app would be more appropriate.

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main pain point Ionic is solving for us is the need to have separate code bases for the same app. We've been able to iterate on our product much faster since we only have to make changes in one place.

  ### 40. Ionic is a very important tool for an enterprise at the moment you want to have a happy client

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Sometimes the configuration of platforms or plugins can be stressful

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With the help of Ionic, we can develop faster. Due to we have no code twice for android and ios

  ### 41. Excellent Framework

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carlos Felipe V. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 08, 2021

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Its a really good framework, If you don't have resources for develop native applicatio, you can start with Ionic, but once you are on it, even if you have the resources to develop native, probably you will stay with Ionic.

The Enterprise Support is excellent, there are so many good plugins that you can implement, you send a ticket and you receive an answer practically immediately.

Now it is integrated good with Capacitor and you can choose to use it with Angular, Vue or React, really good.

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Nothing for now. They are working on regular updates.

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We develop our entire mobile application with Ionic, we are implementing new features and regular updates.

The ability to create awesome apps in a relatively short period of time.

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

You'll not regret using it!

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Without Ionic, it wouldn't be possible for my company to develop apps for iOS and Android. By using Ionic we save tons of time and money. We also use Appflow to automate the build process.

  ### 44. A brilliant service that enhances not only our app build and deploy process but our testing too

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Richard S. | Mobile Application Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 17, 2021

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Once you are setup it is so very simple and reliable.

The one-click submit to App Store capability is fantastic. A real time saver and very simple and easy to configure.

The ability to deliver live updates of the app to tester’s devices has also saved us hours of time and streamlined our whole testing process.

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

Not much! On our price plan we are unable to link to our in-house on premise GitLab repo and I suppose it would be nice if we could but that is available at a higher tier I think. But really there is not much to dislike.

**Recommendations to others considering Ionic: An OutSystems Company:**

I would absolutely recommend that you check out AppFlow. It’s a time saver and a pain saver.

I cannot now imagine working on my current project without it (well I can to be honest, I just don’t want to)

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having the builds performed reliably, consistently and quickly by a cloud service rather than building on an in-house machine. Having all those builds accessible and easy to reference and go back to.

Time saving - automated builds, deploy to App Store, live updates to Test devices.

  ### 45. Great experience with all technologies

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Claudio D. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 29, 2020

**What do you like best about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

I love having iOS & Android builds ready every time new code is pushed. Live-deploy is also really nice for pushing hot-fixes to published apps. Lastly, web previews are key for showing progress to stakeholders.

**What do you dislike about Ionic: An OutSystems Company?**

The native configs and automations are a little hard to figure out. Ionic should perhaps bolster Appflow's docs in that regard.

**What problems is Ionic: An OutSystems Company solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Passing builds to our QA team is easier than ever. Now, instead of locally building and installing the native binaries on devices, our QA team members can directly grab the latests builds from Appflow. Thereby removing the involvement of a developer.
