Permissions are often not documented at all, and there are a number of features or configuration items that are entirely undocumented. This leaves users always routing through support where detailed documentation would cover approximately 50% of the issues that are raised. **What problems is IDBS E-WorkBook solving and how is that benefiting you?** E-Workbook resides as the central hub for lab work. It allows users to review one another's work. I like the file structure of the software, which allows users to only access project folders they need access to. As someone who has used this system as and administrator, I like the ease of use of using the permissions system with IDBS. There are a lot of features with E-workbook, including Request and Inventory module. **What do you dislike about IDBS E-WorkBook?** As someone who has used spreadsheet designer, I find that it is learnt quite easily, at the basic level. However, there is a steep learning curve to ensure that administrators/spreadsheet designers understand the software fully. It is quite complex for big templates. Whilst I do like the modular approach of E-workbook, it would be great to have inventory and request modules included in the E-workbook module. **What problems is IDBS E-WorkBook solving and how is that benefiting you?** E-workbook has been implemented as an ELN and allows us to store all of our primary data in one place. ### 6. Not sure if it is a connection thing or something, but this can be frustrating. Tiered organization let's you group by project, major elements, individual experiments, etc. Then attaching files as you go is even more informative. **What do you dislike about IDBS E-WorkBook?** Not a personal problem but any ELN can be a big change for the technologically challenged. Convincing the old fashioned the value of moving away from paper notebooks or piecemeal local storage takes effort. **What problems is IDBS E-WorkBook solving and how is that benefiting you?** A lot of people really like the file storage for the secure permanent storage.
