**What do you like best about IBM WebSphere?**

This is the main Middleware platform for our company. It is reliable and scalable.

**What do you dislike about IBM WebSphere?**

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marsha C. | TTTTTTT, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2018

**What do you like best about IBM WebSphere?**

WAS has been around for sometime and my company has been using it for some years now. It has also gone through many updates and release. The current stable release is version 8.5 with support for EJB 3.1 and many other J2EE features. This is actually what we are using. The system is stable and IBM had done alot of R&D on this product. This tool provides good integration with the IBM devloper tool (RAD), and makes development and testing a much easier.

**What do you dislike about IBM WebSphere?**

Well the fees for this software is high so we have floating license which makes it a pain sometimes. certain feature is not available on the trial version which is a draw back. Try a few application servers in this space to see if it fits your requirements first and this will take some playing around.

**Recommendations to others considering IBM WebSphere:**

I would recommend this tool to other developers as it as gotten updates and improved over the years. Try the trial version first to see if it fits you first.

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 03, 2018

**What do you like best about IBM WebSphere?**

WebSphere Application Server Is a app server like other 3rd party products but IBM has very easy installation and upgrade process compared to other products even you can update the product in online easily.

**What do you dislike about IBM WebSphere?**

Websphere AppServer restart or starting up is taking more time compared to other products. They are releasing many Fix Packs and Patches, it is very difficult compare to other products.

**What problems is IBM WebSphere solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Yes, I would like to go to cloud to avoid the regular updates with hardware, and bump of availability easily without add hardware in on-site of my data center.

  ### 44. Great java application server

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Tobacco | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2017

**What do you like best about IBM WebSphere?**

This is probably the most stable application server I've ever run. Package deployment on the fly is a cinch, but where it really excels at is integration; if you're running any other IBM software (MQ, DB2, ...) integration is built into it, offering you capabilities you wouldn't achieve with other application servers

**What do you dislike about IBM WebSphere?**

This server is not for the faint of heart, setting it up can be scary, when faced with all these settings and options. But don't worry, once you get to know and understand them, you'll wonder how you could do without. Also, and this issue is with all IBM products, licensing!

**Recommendations to others considering IBM WebSphere:**

If your business is dependent on running a Java stack to operate, don't cheap out. Yes, the free stuff is great, but think how does downtime, issues, actually cost you. It will far outweigh the cost of running websphere application server.

**What problems is IBM WebSphere solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use this as part of our integration layer, running all webservices. We have over 20k transactions going through it on a daily basis, on a single instance of the server.

  ### 45. Versatile, complex web server

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eric A. | Full Stack Developer (contract), Automotive, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2017

**What do you like best about IBM WebSphere?**

Makes writing a complete, complex multi-tier web application almost easy! Provides many facilities to handle every aspect of an enterprise web system.

**What do you dislike about IBM WebSphere?**

Can be overly difficult to make small changes and deploy them. Lots to learn, so the curve is shallow.

**Recommendations to others considering IBM WebSphere:**

Definitely look at it-it's a one-stop solution.
