"The Guardian Behind The Scenes: IBM Guardium Real-Time Database Protection"
5/5
What do you like best about IBM Guardium Data Protection?

An excellent solution for database protection. It not only gives customers out-of-the-box accelerators aligned with current security standards, but when implemented properly, it can also serve as an inline solution that helps defend against potential cybersecurity threats in real time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Guardium Data Protection?

The main weakness is integration with other security solutions. While IBM Guardium has its own Incident Management capabilities and reliably records every security incident, forwarding those incidents to a SIEM platform is, in some cases, not adequately supported.

The biggest challenge is the incident metadata. With certain SIEM solutions, the LEEF messages need to be fully customised so the relevant incident details are parsed correctly and displayed properly in the SIEM environment. Without this customisation, important contextual information may be missing, which reduces the effectiveness of monitoring, correlation, and incident response. "Robust Data Security with Room for Deployment Improvement"
4/5
What do you like best about IBM Guardium Data Protection?

I really appreciate IBM Guardium Data Protection because it's a great tool for data protection. It allows me to protect my sensitive data without any loss or breach. The integration across several categories, such as the IBM ecosystem, IT security, ticketing platforms, and cloud and hybrid data sources, creates a unified data security and incident response workflow, which works really well for my needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Guardium Data Protection?

While IBM Guardium Data Protection is an industry standard for database security, administrators and security teams frequently highlight several operational challenges and areas for improvement such as complex deployment and steep learning curve, S-tap agent overhead and maintenance, and cloud naive adaptation. The initial setup is generally considered complex and demanding, often requiring dedicated expertise and careful planning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about IBM Guardium Data Protection?

I like IBM Guardium Data Protection for its strong data security capabilities, especially real-time monitoring, data activity tracking, and threat detection. Its centralized visibility and user-friendly monitoring make it easier to identify suspicious access and protect sensitive data across databases and environments. What do you dislike about IBM Guardium Data Protection?

One area I find challenging is the initial setup and configuration, especially when integrating Guardium with multiple databases and complex environments. It can require some time to fine-tune policies, agents, and monitoring rules. The solution is powerful, but the learning curve can be a little steep for new users. "Powerful End-to-End Data Protection, but Setup and Administration Can Be Complex"
3.5/5
What do you like best about IBM Guardium Data Protection?

What I like most about IBM Guardium Data Protection is that it addresses data security from a pragmatic end-to-end point of view. The tool goes beyond the mere identification of vulnerabilities by focusing on the actual sensitive data, its owners, and authorized users and how they treat this information. Monitoring, auditing, and compliance features are also compelling from the perspective of my daily job. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Guardium Data Protection?

The main negative thing about Guardium is that it can be complex to configure and administer, especially for environments that are large or that involve many data sources. It has a great number of features, which is good to see, but that could make the product appear as something too complicated for a company that wants an easy solution for monitoring critical data. I find that this aspect could be improved to make the product more accessible for everyday use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The user interface could be more intuitive, and some configuration tasks could be simpler. A simpler interface, clearer navigation, and guided configuration steps would make setup and daily administration easier. Some configuration required technical expertise. "Comprehensive Database Monitoring with Real-Time Threat Detection"
4/5
What do you like best about IBM Guardium Data Protection?

I like best about IBM Guardium Data Protection is its ability to provide comprehensive database activity monitoring and real-time threat detection. It helps organizations identify unauthorized access, monitor sensitive data usage, and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements. The centralized dashboard, detailed audit trails, and customizable alerts make it easier for security and data teams to track database activities and respond quickly to potential risks. Its support for multiple database platforms is also a major advantage for enterprises managing diverse environments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Guardium Data Protection?

One aspect that could be improved is the complexity of the initial setup and configuration process. New users may face a steep learning curve when configuring policies, reports, and monitoring rules. The user interface can feel overwhelming at times due to the large number of features and options available. Additionally, performance tuning and troubleshooting may require specialized knowledge, and licensing costs can be significant for smaller organizations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Smooth Setup, Stellar Support, and Custom Features"
4/5
What do you like best about IBM Guardium Data Protection?

I really appreciate the smooth experience with IBM Guardium Data Protection. The team has been super helpful and responsive, assisting us in onboarding and even developing custom features that align with our specific requirements. This has made the tool very accessible and provides exactly the kind of toolset and protection layer we've been looking for. It's definitely a step in the right direction for us. The initial setup was quite easy, thanks to the helpful support team. They even went above and beyond to design a custom security layer for our trading strategies, which has been particularly beneficial and impactful for our workflow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Guardium Data Protection?

But, there have been periods of, let's say, dark responses or maybe a certain deadline was not met and we were expecting things to be shipped a little faster. As compared to the time it has taken the IBM Guardium. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Robust Data Protection, Needs Better UI"
3.5/5
What do you like best about IBM Guardium Data Protection?

I like IBM Guardium Data Protection for its agentless real-time protection that speeds up deployment at scale with zero or minimal impact on production databases. I appreciate the strong compliance and audit features that are built-in for PCI, GDPR, SOX, and HIPAA, making audits easier and more reliable. The centralized visibility it provides is great for getting immediate insights into live activity and reducing onboarding friction. Its integration with SOC/SIEM for alerts is also very useful for real-time monitoring. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Guardium Data Protection?

I find the UI, policies, and reporting structure not very accurate and they can be improved. It also supports cloud but not as a cloud-native service, which can be improved for easier cloud integrations. The initial setup is not easy, especially with collectors, aggregators, S-TAP, and network configuration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
