This reduces the no of tools we can use and reduces flexibility **What problems is HPE Synergy solving and how is that benefiting you?** Conducted feasibility studies to check if the product meets our requirements on IT product deployment and life cycle sustainability. Met almost all of our requirements and provided so great benefits in terms scalability ### 6. HPE Composable Servers **Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Rami C. | Principal Systems & Storage Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** March 31, 2020 **What do you like best about HPE Synergy?** The integration of Oneview through the built-in composer The frames aggregation by using interconnect link modules Ease of management Almost seamless firmware update process **What do you dislike about HPE Synergy?** The hardware sometimes is healthy but the profile has a problem and it is hard to fix without downtime There is no maintenance mode in Oneview to stop notifications during regular maintenance Support sometimes take time to escalate the case from level 1 to level 2 support SUT integration can be ameliorated Update: After Version Oneview 5.3 there is now maintenance mode under Server Hardware **Recommendations to others considering HPE Synergy:** • Recommendation to others considering HPE synergy is to have segregated san virtual connects if the bandwidth is high and the budget allows • If Administrators don't have experience with HPE Oneview, they will have a learning curve to understand how things shall be managed and how it is structured (but it is not complicated) • Use a single LAG to combine all the network uplinks to have higher bandwidth • Always update all the components including one view, Virtual connects, frame links, compute modules ... Since Oneview is ameliorating fast • Watch out for the firmware update compatibility matrix from the HPE website at first it is a bit confusing **What problems is HPE Synergy solving and how is that benefiting you?** Easier management especially when You have a large number of compute modules. Easier patching process using the composer SPP Higher bandwidth and compatibility with Cisco ACI for the HPE Virtual Connect 40G ### 7. Just automating all the management tasks that we have for our server hardware has been incredibly helpful. **What do you dislike about HPE Synergy?** We experienced few to no problems, but one of the issues that we did have is with the firmware baselining. We would also like to see SaaS connectivity and sharing of storage between frames sometime in Synergy’s near future. **What problems is HPE Synergy solving and how is that benefiting you?** Synergy gives time back to our operations team and helps us track and report automatically to HPE for any questions, concerns or issues. Also, storage, networking and computing is combined in one chassis, so you save a lot of extra space in the datacenter which is also quite helpful. ### 9. Also, the software's fluid resource pools allow customers to immediately start up the infrastructure and have it be ready to run physical and virtual applications. **What do you dislike about HPE Synergy?** You definitely pay a premium for the highly advanced software and that is understandable; however, it does make this product a bit expensive. That being said, it is difficult to find a perfectly similar competing software and once I found HPE Synergy I became more than okay with paying the premium. **Recommendations to others considering HPE Synergy:** Another perk is definitely that HPE Synergy builds upon application specific templates which allows infrastructure to be used/applied and constantly updated. These templates make it increasingly easy for for customers to use composable infrastructure in a way that meets the needs of each of their applications. **What problems is HPE Synergy solving and how is that benefiting you?** The Composable infrastructure that HPE Synergy offers allows our IT system to manage infrastructure as code and thus optimizes application performance.
