Holistiplan Reviews & Product Details

Holistiplan is an easy to use, automated tool for analyzing client's Federal tax return. It provides amazing insights and it is educational for the advisor as well as the client. It identifies a number of tax breaks and clearly lays out why the client may/may not be eligible based on their complex MAGI calculations. It also calculated IRMAA for clients covered under Medicare. The Observation section is also aweome. The tool is perfect for having a clear converstaion with the client even if I am not a tax accountant.

The sceanrio analysis is also veruy helpful in identifying Roth conversions, increasing charitable contributions, property sales and harvesting long-term gains and losses.

Tax laws are complex and the tool has made it easy to navigate the changes.

There are always room for improvement, right? The following are areas that would be great additions:

Add Schedule E, especially Rental Property, to the analysis.

Add YoY Report (basically combine two prior year tax reports) - similar to side-by-side scenario analysis.

Add State Tax analysis report (been told it is complex) . I do not have the state scenario analysis tool.

P&C Insurance analysis is available only at highest level subscription.

The observation secton can be dynamic, i.e. insert penaly amount for example.

I enjoy the tax report, as well as the tax explainer. I work with Scenario Analysis all the time, with all of my clients. It's especially helpful with Roth conversion calculations.

I like that I can save a step by giving a personal link to clients to upload their taxes directly into the software.

Nothing comes to mind right now. If I really pressed into the deep caverns of my brain I could probably come up with something. Oh yeah, sometimes when using it, the beauty of its application makes me weep. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Prior to Holistiplan I was a user of the more traditional tax planning applications but limited my efforts to only key clients because the proess to plan was difficult and tedious. Holistiplan has made tax planning so much easier from first being able to scan a return and having its content already formated and available to analyze. Prior to Holistiplan, one would spend time keying information into software to set up a client to even complete any analysis. With Holistiplan, once the return is uploaded then there is an analysis of the results so that you immediately know key details about a client. What tax bracket are they in. If they are over 65 are they subject to IRMAA. Can they make a Roth IRA contribution is another good immediate response. Next one can then move into the Scenario Analysis and do pro forma scenarios to help create plans for the next tax year and even later years with or without current tax law changes. Now, I do not work with a client without obtaining their tax return and then running it through Holistiplan so I know where they stand with their taxes both US and State and City. There are occasions where a question will come up about a tax calculation and the support team are quick to respond with a complete explanation of the calculation so I also learn more about tax rules at the same time.
