## higlight.js Reviews
  ### 1. Higlight js for syntax highlighting in the web

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashutosh T. | Engineering Development Group Intern, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 19, 2023

**What do you like best about higlight.js?**

One of its best advantages of it's usability, it can be used with vanilla js by importing it in HTML, and you can also use it in server-side rendering using node js, which is one of the popular server-side runtime nowadays. so you can generate highlighted syntax from the server itself to pass onto front end. It generally highlights code and syntax as required by the user. It also has support for frontend frameworks like React js and Vue Js and uses ES6 standards.

**What do you dislike about higlight.js?**

One of disadvantages is that it doesn't have great documentation to work with and doesn't have enough examples present in its documentation website. This makes new developers understand the application not very well and they generally discourage the libraries with poor documentation.

**What problems is higlight.js solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Nowadays, edtech is attaining more excellent capabilities, especially in software development and programming. It solves our problem of highlighting code in different and interactive styling as we can highlight code in our blogs very easily as push into production very fast

**What do you dislike about higlight.js?**

This tool is relatively new and doesn't have a ton of features yet, which is fine because it's a beta. But in the future I'd like to see more features added like the ability to export to PDF, a Chrome extension, integration with IDE's like VS Code, etc.

**What problems is higlight.js solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to use higlihc.js to highlight my source code has saved me a lot of time and frustration when it comes to reviewing my code. It makes it much easier to find syntax errors in my JavaScript or Ruby code by highlighting them and allowing me to quickly edit and fix them.

I suggest using as a trial first look at youtube tutorials they were really good step by step on how to use highlight.js to use to highlight the code. ### 9. highlight.js User Experience

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 24, 2019

**What do you like best about higlight.js?**

highlight.js is the software tool that you never thought you needed but you actually do. It is great for visual display because not only does it detect the code but it properly indents, formats, and highlights the selected code properly in a way that is easy to read. Anyone can learn how to use this platform and it works with a wide variety of languages. It can also be used with any framework in Javascript and works with desktop. The plugin itself is free and takes little to no effort to implement.

**What do you dislike about higlight.js?**

I do not dislike anything however there are some instances where it is slower than usual, but it still does the job well. It might be hard however to receive help or support in this software but you can always look at forums and external sources for that. However their online website is quite helpful as well and goes into details regarding the coding languages as well.

**Recommendations to others considering higlight.js:**

It is really good at indenting and formatting your code. It also does a good job of highlighting sectioned functions and different types of variables.

**What problems is higlight.js solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is good for if you want code to be easily readable and want to draw attention to it. It can be used as example codes in websites that your business uses.

  ### 11. Syntax highlighting has never been this easy...

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2019

**What do you like best about higlight.js?**

I like how highlight.js is so lightweight of a plugin. It is so easy to setup in my projects, and is also easy to use. I displays code syntaxes on my web pages correctly and nicely, without having to worry that my compilers will confuse them with my real application code.

**What do you dislike about higlight.js?**

None at the moment. This simply is an amazing plugin, free, and it helps you get the job done easily.

**Recommendations to others considering higlight.js:**

There is not much to think about it. If you need to display code in your web pages, Highlight.js does the job right and good.

**What problems is higlight.js solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Highlight.js simply becomes our solution when we need to display parts of code in our web pages. It's obviously the only choice for the job as there is no other library that could perform at the level Highlight.js has done.

  ### 12. Perfect for Syntax highlighting

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Arts and Crafts | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 25, 2018

**What do you like best about higlight.js?**

It's not too big. It's way faster. I made a basic performance test in JSFiddle to see how highlight.js does in comparison to prettify.

**What do you dislike about higlight.js?**

I'm not sure whether the language tag/hint is something implemented by SO specifically, or built into prettify. It probably wouldn't be hard to parse them in order to inform the way hljs is activated

**Recommendations to others considering higlight.js:**

higlight.js' tags/classes it generates are quite extensive, and they are nicely nested, so you can do some cool things with CSS to make a really nice color scheme.

It can detect nested code blocks, such as CSS inside HTML, and highlight both languages correctly in the same snippet.

**What problems is higlight.js solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's actively developed. The commit activity for highlight.js is consistently high. Not so much for prettify (although it's not completely dead as some might have thought). Of course, SE can't update all the time, but more improvements can be pulled in every time the library is updated.

  ### 13. Performance and Speed

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vishant S. | Full Stack Developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2018

**What do you like best about higlight.js?**

It can detect nested languages and it has many more supported languages.

**What do you dislike about higlight.js?**

It is larger and slower for usage and most of the people may not be willing to pay this cost.

**Recommendations to others considering higlight.js:**

If you are willing to take a risk on the performance cut in your product , you might as well just use it.

**What problems is higlight.js solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Initially, we started with higlight.js cause we wanted syntax highlighting for the Web. It has a powerful library that can detect nested languages, i.e., language in a language, which is a really plus point. To top this off, it has many supported languages which helped our business in syntax highlighting to a depth.
