## About Hexnode IdP
Hexnode IdP is an identity provider that helps organizations secure access to applications, devices, and corporate resources through centralized authentication and policy-driven access controls. It combines identity verification with device posture checks to enforce Zero Trust access. With features like single sign-on (SSO), multi-factor authentication (MFA), role-based access control, and automated user lifecycle management, Hexnode IdP enables IT teams to manage access securely and efficiently from a single platform.

**What do you like best about Hexnode IdP?**

What I like best about Hexnode IdP is how seamlessly it integrates with the broader Hexnode ecosystem, particularly Hexnode UEM, creating a unified identify and device management workflow that eliminates the need to juggle separate identity provider solutions alongside the endpoint management platform. For IT administrators already managing device fleets through Hexnode UEM, having identity management natively integrated into the same platform means user provisioning, access control, and device compliance enforcement all work together cohesively without complex third-party integrations or additional licensing overhead.

The Single Sign-On capability is a standout feature from a day-to-day administration perspective. Being able to provide users with one set of credentials that grants secure, policy-controlled access to multiple business applications significantly reduces password fatigue, minimizes helpdesk tickets related forgotten credentials, and strengthens the overall authentication posture of the environment without adding friction to the end user login experience.

The directory integration capabilities are also implemented. Syncing users and groups from existing directory services into Hexnode IdP without manual provisioning overhead keeps identity data consistent across the environment and ensures that access rights stay aligned with organizational changes like onboarding, role changes, and offboarding without requiring manual intervention across multiple platforms. For IT teams managing dynamic, fast-changing user populations across multiple client environments, that automated sync capability is a meaningful operational advantage that directly reduces identity management overhead and the risk of orphaned accounts or stale access rights remaining active after personnel changes.

**What do you dislike about Hexnode IdP?**

While Hexnode IdP is a convenient identity management solution particularly for organizations already invested in the Hexnode ecosystem, there are some genuine limitations worth highlighting from an IT administration perspective. The most significant is the depth of features compared to dedicated, standalone identity providers like Okta, Azure AD, or JumpCloud, Organizations with complex identity management requirements advanced conditional access policies, granular MFA configurations, risk-based authentication, or extensive application catalog support will find Hexnode IdP's feature set somewhat limited relative to what purpose-built identity platforms offer at a comparable price point.

The application integration library, while functional for common business applications, is narrower than what dedicated IdP solutions provide. Getting SSO configured for less common or niche business applications requires manual SAML or OIDC configuration that isn't always well documented, leading to extended setup times and occasional compatibility issues that requires support escalation to resolve correctly.

The reporting and audit logging capabilities also feel underdeveloped for environments where identity related audit trails are a compliance requirement. Tracking user authentication events, SSO access patterns, and failed login attempts in sufficient detail for security investigations or compliance audits requires more granularity than the current logging interface provides, which is a meaningful gap for organizations operating under strict data access governance requirements.

Scalability is another consideration worth mentioning. Hexnode IdP works well for small to mid-sized environments, but organizations with large, complex user populations spanning multiple directories, departments, and application ecosystems may find the platform's identity orchestration capabilities insufficient for their requirements without significant customization and workarounds that add ongoing maintenance overhead.

**What problems is Hexnode IdP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hexnode IdP solves one of the most operationally frustrating challenges in IT administration the fragmentation between identity management and endpoint management that forces administrators to maintain separate platforms, separate user directories, and separate policy frameworks for what are fundamentally interconnected security functions. In environments where device compliance and user identity are both critical security controls, having those two functions managed through disconnected tools creates visibility gaps, inconsistent policy enforcement, and significant administrative overhead that scales poorly as the environment grows. Hexnode IdP bridges that gap by bringing identity management natively into the same platform used for endpoint management, creating a unified security and access control workflow that is significantly more coherent and efficient than managing separate solutions.

From a practical IT administration standpoint, it solves the credential sprawl problem that affects productivity and security simultaneously. When users maintain separate credentials for every business application they access, password fatigue sets in, weak or reused passwords become common, and helpdesk ticket volumes for password resets and account lockout consumes a disproportionate amount of IT support time. Hexnode IdP's Single Sign-On capability eliminates that sprawl by giving users one secure set of credentials that grants policy-controlled access across all integrated business applications, which directly reduces both security risk and helpdesk overhead in a single change.

The automated user provisioning and directory sync capability solves the joiner, mover, leaver problem that creates ongoing identity governance risk in dynamic organizations. When a new employee joins, changes roles or leaves the organization, access rights need to be updated consistently and promptly across every connected application and device. Manual provisioning across multiple platforms is slow, error-prone, and frequently results in orphaned accounts or stale access rights that represent a real security exposure. Hexnode IdP's directory integration automates that lifecycle management, ensuring access rights stay aligned with organizational changes without requiring manual intervention across multiple systems.

For organizations already using Hexnode UEM, the combined benefit of unified identity and device management from a single platform has meaningfully reduced the administrative complexity of maintaining a consistent, auditable security posture across both user identities and managed endpoints simultaneously.
