The auto-mapping feature makes setting up a SQL database sync relatively quick. They have a lot of different connectors. Their price is more competitive than other products. **What do you dislike about Hevo Data?** We have bought an annual contract for 300 million rows per month, the problem is, if you don't use your 300 million rows per month, it does not carry over to the next month, and databases never sync the exact same amount of rows every month, so you either paying for rows you never sync, or run short and then have to top up by buying more rows, this billing strategy needs to change ASAP. The metadata date rows they add to tables are in Unix timestamp format (__HEVO__INGESTED_AT, __HEVO__LOADED_AT), which is relatively easy to work out, they should just add a proper date time data type to these metadata rows. For all of our SQL databases, we had 1 table with about 34 million rows, but had a composite primary key of 2 columns, they could not sync these tables faster then 1 million rows per day, so it basically took over a month to sync these tables into our Snowflake data warehouse, and even after opening a support ticket, they could not increase the speed of these indivudual tabels sync to get the historical sync completed quicker. **What problems is Hevo Data solving and how is that benefiting you?** We put all our production database data into snowflake for reporting and data analytics, and data science strategies to be done on the data. It benefits us to have all our different data sources in 1 data warehouse for a detailed overall look at the entire company's data. ### 2. It was a breeze, and so far we have had no issues. Best of all the free tier is pretty damn generous. **What do you dislike about Hevo Data?** We sync data from a Google Sheet to a MSSQL database, and we have found that there was a few cases of duplicate data being pushed from the sheet to the DB and I'm not certain how to debug or detect these anomalies moving forward without a regular manual comparison / review. **What problems is Hevo Data solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use a MSSQL database for a few core business functions, and we need the wider team to edit this information. Our team isn't very technical, and we can't give them read/write SQL access so historically the updates have bottlenecked with the technical team member. It's essentially Fivetran with more features and at a fraction of the price. **What do you dislike about Hevo Data?** There are 2 things I dislike: firstly, the destination settings are a bit janky and require you to set up a new database destination every time you want to send data to a different schema. Secondly, the events-based pricing (rather than rows loaded) is annoying and sometimes leads you to quickly use up your quota on connectors you don't really care about. For instance, Facebook and Google Ads involve regular row updates, meaning you have to either set them to very infrequent load schedules (e.g. 24hrs) or move them across to another provider (as in our case). I wish they gave the option to just not update rows once they're loaded, but overall it's not enough to ruin the experience. **What problems is Hevo Data solving and how is that benefiting you?** Getting data from A to B in the right format. We've experimented with other tools but this one is by far the most reliable, well-supported and reasonably priced we've come across. ### 8. They may not have updated their review text, but have updated their review. **What do you like best about Hevo Data?** Hevo integrates with a lot of data sources and destinations, covering everything we need: Amplitude, Google Sheets, MongoDB, PostgreSQL. It's very easy to get started with a new pipeline and to re-run data after initially loading it. Hevo gracefully recovers from errors and re-runs automatically when problems are resolved. Being able to easily sample events from a given source and re-run those to test pipelines is a nice feature. Hevo models and workflows are a very simple (and freely offered) implementation of DAGs that allow SQL pipelines to be built... this greatly improved the value we got from Hevo once we started using them. **What do you dislike about Hevo Data?** I wish there was an easier way to manage and re-create pipelines which store the schema mappings. As a result, it is preferable to move configurations into the transformations file, which works fine but I will advise that you do this yourselves so that you're more able to re-create your pipelines as needed. I believe that sometimes the errors Hevo provides specify the transformed object rather than pre-transformation object. This makes it difficult to debug errors in transformations at times. The PostgreSQL destination is somewhat slow with Hevo... it would be great if they used the LOAD interface in PostgreSQL (perhaps with necessary restrictions/limitations) prevent this being a bottle neck. Only being limited to Python2 in the transformations is not ideal. Having access to Python3 or other environments could be powerful as well. Hevo models are great (see above), but there are certainly limitations with these such as Hevo not being able to manage any changing schemas. **What problems is Hevo Data solving and how is that benefiting you?** Hevo helps us move data from multiple source systems into our DW, to then transform that data within the DW and keep the tables consumed by BI up to date and clean. ### 9. These pre-built data connectors also support a large number of data sources which gives us great convenience while working with multiple client requirements. It also makes our data engineers focus more on the insights rather than other configurations & integrations which saves a lot of our time. **What do you dislike about Hevo Data?** We faced difficulties in a few use cases in which we had to replicate the pre-existing pipeline with some minor stage parameter changes. It is not possible to clone any pipeline which is already present in our production environment. Because of this, we need to raise a change request every time we need to replicate a specific pipeline. This goes through building a pipeline from scratch and its approval from clients which is a tedious & time-consuming process. It would be great if the pipeline duplication feature is introduced for our feasibility. **What problems is Hevo Data solving and how is that benefiting you?** We often faced issues while trying to pull more data to our data warehouse as it took plenty of time for setting up the data source & AWS environment. With the help of Hevo Data, we can easily perform integrations from a multitude of data sources within a few clicks which gives me more time to focus on customer procurements & business regulations. In our postgres integration it's a bit annoying to not be able to sort the tables in alphabetical order and they ony show up in the order that they are being synced. For the product that our company is developing, we compared several ETL tools. For our use case, we need a tool that allows us to create a large number of pipelines. Because Hevo offers pricing based on events, the costs are also lower compared to other tools for our use case. With some other tools, pricing is based on the number of pipelines. We had some very specific questions and support was usually able to answer within one business day. **What do you dislike about Hevo Data?** Hevo is really good for normal pipelines, but it has currently some limitations for more complex use cases. In our use case we want to be able to create Hevo pipelines within our application. For this we are using the API that Hevo offers, but the API is still missing some features that are needed to fully automate our process. In addition, some documentation was not up to date, so we had to contact support. As a result, we had to wait unnecessarily for an answer. If Hevo fixes these things, it can be the perfect ETL tool for our use case without limitations. **Recommendations to others considering Hevo Data:** If you are looking for an ETL tool that allows you to create a lot of pipelines and the data sources that you have are supported by Hevo, then Hevo is a great and easy to use option. But if you want to automate pipeline creation and management, Hevo currently has a few limitations. **What problems is Hevo Data solving and how is that benefiting you?** At first we wanted to develop our own tool to create connections between data sources and a data warehouse, but then we found Hevo and found out that we could not match the features and the pricing of Hevo with the tool we wanted to develop. ### 16. We had previously evaluated Stitch as an ETL solution but we preferred Hevo for two reasons: it automatically handles schema changes, and it is cheaper. We had absolutely no issues setting up and the service ran reliably all the time, with ~15 minutes refresh rate. Support was responsive and resolved our requests successfully in a couple hours. **What do you dislike about Hevo Data?** My only gripe with Hevo, and it's a very minor one, is on auto-mapping it prepends table names with the source schema name, which was not desired for our use-case. Fortunately, there is a workaround by disabling automapping, manually assigning the destination table name, and then reactivating automapping. This was a minor inconvenience but it would be nice to have the choice to keep the table name only. **What problems is Hevo Data solving and how is that benefiting you?** Hevo helps us replicateinto our datawarehouse without having to code and maintain our own pipelines. This allows us to focus on data modelling and analysis instead of worrying about ETL. ### 42.
