**What do you like best about Harvest?**

Harvest stopwatch is easily integrated into my browser or project management software such as Basecamp and Google Chrome.  I also appreciate the ability to get organized reports by team and project, which helps us keep track of resource utilization across our projects. Without this functionality, it is much more difficult for us to determine if we are providing the optimal amount of resources needed without either under- or over-servicing our clients - something that is critical to maintaining the trust of the companies that use our services. It is great to have such quick access to what might otherwise be more difficult information to make the perfect adjustments.

**What do you dislike about Harvest?**

In general, I am quite happy with Harvest. However, one feature that could be improved is the monthly view feature on both the desktop and iOS versions; currently it cannot display past days or weeks, which can make managing larger time frames unnecessarily complex for me. There is one advantage to the desktop version in terms of visibility: it occupies much less space compared to its iOS counterpart, leaving more space for the actual work.

I am able to get my work done faster and more efficiently with Harvest. Its user-friendly interface allows me to track how I spend my time easily and focus on achieving project goals without distractions.

**What do you like best about Harvest?**

It's super simple to use and takes the hassle out of tracking time. It helps us get a high-level view of how our team is spending time against projects and clients.

**What do you dislike about Harvest?**

I haven't encountered any issues where I couldn't achieve something I was trying to do. No major complaints here, but it's a very simple platform, so perhaps some additional features could make it more useful.

**What problems is Harvest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Harvest provides a user-friendly way to track resources on projects and clients. We use it to assess the real-time status of budgets, as well as to forecast future projects based on historical effort and resources.

**What do you like best about Harvest?**

Harvest is the first system I have used that I have had minimal quesitons from the team. The analytics, UI and invoicing function has saved our team days every month in reporting and invoicing. The cost per user is far cheaper than other systems I looked at.

**What do you dislike about Harvest?**

My only wish for Harvest was that I wish I could add different currencies on certain projjects. I have to make a note that something is in Euros for example. I also wish I could better differentiate between employees and contractors, so when I do my reports, I can split them quite easily.

**What problems is Harvest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had a very manual process of invoicing with our freelancers and full time team. Freelancers would send their invoices in and we would manually add these details to a spreadhseet to then work out what we need to invoice clients. Harvest has the ability to work to log the time, multiply it by the freelancers hourly rate and also the billable rate to client to generate invoices that save us a considerable amount of time every month.

The integration with JIRA tools allows tremendous and easy time sheet entry and then invoicing. Great for creating estimates also

Just got to remember to change the billing code; otherwise, you need to adjust it in your timesheet if it is incorrectly set

I have been using Harvest for 8 years now and I love the tool. It is easy to use and integrates easily with other tools. It allows you to track the hours spent on each task in a project. I like the UI/UX it is done. The tool is easy to use.

What I don't like about Harvest is the options for sending notifications or reports. I find the tool a bit too simple at times and would like to have more flexibility

To know the use of hours per project and the output of the project. Also allows you to easily manage a team and their use or who has worked on such a project. Report for client.

Most times it is very manual and it is often confusing when pulling invoices to understand where discrepancies are.

Harvest allows us to have visibility into project budgets and easily make adjustments as well as have our team members track time with easy admin visibility. It centralizes many aspects of budget and invoice management all in one place.

Harvest has so many wonderful tools to export reports for how long each type of task takes, how much time each team member is spending on each project and task, and how close you're getting to your cap.

It's a little more expensive than other tools that can track time. There aren't many other features, it's pretty much solely for tracking time and seeing how long each task in a project takes, or how much time your team is spending.

I really enjoy harvesting because it's a great way to be outdoors and appreciate nature. It also reminds me of the hard work that goes into growing food, something I'm very passionate about!

I'm unhappy with Harvest because it only tracks time and expenses for projects, not anything else. I would be much better off if it included complete project management and accounting functions to make life easier as an all-in-one solution.

Harvest is very simple to implement and use.  It also has chrome integrations so project time can be captured while working via a timer. We had previously used mavenlink which did not have that feature and wasn't as user friendly. The support staff is also SO quick to respond to any questions.

**What do you dislike about Harvest?**

You cannot view the full month view of capex vs opex, only by week. This means the project managers must audit more frequently

**What do you like best about Harvest?**

The best thing about Harvest is its ability to track employee hours and progress on tasks. However, the timer function received mixed reviews as no system would alert management when an employee had been clocked in for too long. To improve this feature, replacing manual checking-in with a required hourly check-in may have resulted in better accuracy of time tracking for employees' work hours.

**What do you dislike about Harvest?**

I am not satisfied with the current tools that Harvest has for planning and reporting company-wide and individual project costs. Although I appreciate being able to assign tasks related to projects and track their progress in real-time, there are limited options available when forecasting future expenses - especially regarding acquiring new business opportunities.

Harvest provides an affordable way to combat the ongoing problem of adequate compensation for work done. It has been invaluable in helping me manage my workload and track how long I've worked on each client or task.

The software is good at very basic time tracking.

**What do you dislike about Harvest?**

I tried to upload about 100 time entries via a simple .csv (about 30 KB) which errored out several times. Here is the answer their "Escalated Support Team" sent me:


"Hi,
 
Thank you for your patience here. Andrea shared your message with me; I work on the Escalated Support team here at Harvest.
 
We took a closer look at your imported file and checked our logs. Unfortunately, as you well know, on this occasion the import did not complete successfully. I don't have a great reason to share for this error: the file was correctly formatted and servers were operational at the time. Every now and then, imported files fail. I wish I had a better answer for you today.
 
That's especially true because failed imports are very challenging to clean up in Harvest (you're also well aware of this). I want to be transparent with you, especially because you mentioned that importing thousands of entries is a critical part of your workflow: you will encounter these errors from time to time in Harvest. As a team, we are keenly aware of the hurdles that frequent importers face. We have some ideas for how we could make the importing process more user-friendly, but changes to the import process aren't on the docket anytime soon. It's important that you know that as you consider the best tools and processes for your business.
 
I'm happy to answer any questions or pass along any feedback you have to share about imports in Harvest. Please let me know.

So, not only can their software not handle a 30 KB import, but they have no idea why it failed.

It's a basic time tracking software.

> We can understand your frustration with your import failing. We do want you to know that our team did take your issue seriously and has been working to understand the root cause of the problem, with the hopes of being able to improve it. It doesn't seem like that came across clearly in our communication, which we can see. 

That said, it's true that at the moment, we're not sure what caused the import issue. While the vast majority of imports work without issue, this does occasionally happen and may require doing a separate import for the failed data points.

We're sorry for the extra work this issue caused on your end. We'll continue to dig into what caused the problem and we hope to have a way to improve it in the future.

Harvest is a great integration with Google Calendar, which saves valuable time in adding meetings to your timesheet; this, as well as the ability to carry over tasks from one week to another, saves me time in what is easily the most tedious part of my work.

**What do you dislike about Harvest?**

It takes time to switch between live timers for project tracking, and I would love the ability to have built-in administrative/internal tasks that aren't listed like client tasks.

My time needs to be tracked in order to bill clients effectively and ensure I'm receiving a fair work share. It also maintains work equity between my teammates so no one is overworked.

I like how easy it is to set up a template in Harvest. You can save them for the entire company to use. The ease of finding projects is also a huge bonus! I would recommend it.

I dislike the cost. It is very pricy to have each employee have their own Harvest login! It doesn't make a lot of sens when a large business has to pay for each login access.

It is beneficial to me because it allows us to track our time billed for each client, we can have a client have the same name but have multiple projects under their name. It helps a lot!

**What do you like best about Harvest?**

Harvest's timekeeping system is simple to implement and use. The system permits the creation of multiple projects, each with its own set of tasks, and assigning those tasks to various team members. As a manager, I can track each employee's time on a project and how that time compares to the allotted time. Everyone working on the project has access to their weekly schedules. With the help of a forecasting tool, managers can better determine daily and weekly resource allocations.

**What do you dislike about Harvest?**

As a manager of multiple business projects, I honestly cannot think of anything I dislike about Harvest. However, a Yubico integration would be an advantage from my perspective.

**What problems is Harvest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Harvest enables us to track the amount of time spent on each task and the overall budget for the project. Because of the system's integrations and the company's creation of tags and IDs for each project, it is simple to track the time of a project rather than accumulating it and then attempting to decipher which projects each chunk of time belongs to.

My favorite part of using Harvest is the quote of the day that shows before you start tracking your time. It always makes me stop, breathe and reflect before the working day begins. Not many other software tools do that.

**What do you dislike about Harvest?**

the google chrome extension could do with some improvement - I wish it showed the time you've already tracked that day as the browser version does. That way, I wouldn't have to keep a harvest tab open on all of my browsers.

Harvest is a mandatory time-tracking tool that my company enforces to help understand what team members are spending the majority of their time doing. However, I've also found it beneficial to understand what I'm spending most of my time on.

Harvest is user-friendly for my entire team. With one 30-minute training session, they were up to speed and ready to start using the software to track their time.

**What do you dislike about Harvest?**

The reporting dashboards are limited, I would love to see more visual ways to interpret my data. Would also love to be able to add recurring expenses within the system.

Before, we did not have a system to track time and expenses. Now that we have one, we can focus in on project and client profitability.

Great to be able to see how I am spending my time during the week and make sure I am focused on the top priorities. Like the accountability it provides for my team. Great way to do summary at the end of the month

I wish there were a way to automatically track when I move from one project to another. Hard sometimes to remember to switch times. Also, need a function that is not tied to billable projects.

Employees track their time based on projects which filters directly into invoices to send to clients. The interface is easy to use, admin/manager/employee relationships easy to manage.

**What do you dislike about Harvest?**

Sometimes the timestamps are messed up when switching between mobile and desktop, but I think it might be because the timezone of my org is not my own timezone. No real complaints about Harvest!

Harvest timekeeping is easy to use.  You can set up multiple projects with multiple tasks and assign team members to the projects/tasks.  Hours can be tracked for each individual and you can see the hours spent compared to the overall hours budgeted for a project.  Forecast helps you assign resources to projects on a daily and weekly basis.  It is easy to use and easy to update.  Everyone on the project can see their time for each day and/or week.  Easy to use, easy to update.

**What do you dislike about Harvest?**

As a project manager with multiple projects, I have to admit that there is nothing I don't like about Harvest.

Harvest helps us track hours assigned to the project tasks and hours used.

Harvest is a simple time tracking software. It's easy to log time toward different clients and/or different projects. The dashboard provides an at-a-glance overview of how time is spent on various projects, clients, or even overall. The mobile app also works well. Decent integration with Google Calendar, although I rarely used that feature since my meetings didn't always adhere to my calendar.

**What do you dislike about Harvest?**

Harvest can be a little tricky if you are wanting a more detailed review of how time is being spent beside the quick overview. The sort function (A-Z) for projects does not remain selected if you leave the page which was annoying for my needs. Weekly (sometimes multiple times weekly) I go through and update my team's project tracker which required me to sort (A-Z) for simplicity, however, if I clicked on a certain project to get more details, the sort would revert to be random when I returned to the overall list, requiring me to scroll to the top to resort again. It's a small thing, but pretty annoying when you are encountering it regularly. Additionally, email notifications can be a bit much, these can be adjusted in the notifications settings, but just be aware in the beginning that Harvest will blow up your inbox.

**Recommendations to others considering Harvest:**

Don't forget to also have time policies for your team and SOPs for using Harvest. The software itself is simple to use, but our team consistently struggles with recording time correctly. This is no fault of Harvest, we just need better onboarding training and consistency across users.

We use Harvest to track hours worked on client projects. Some clients have multiple projects, and we have multiple team members working on them. Harvest also allows us to get a quick snapshot of monthly client hours to ensure we are meeting expectations. We also use it to track the number of hours worked by employees.

1. I like that you can use either the day or the week view style.
2. It copies all rows from the previous week if you use the week view. This feature is good since most people will have the same categories consistently.
3. The Google Calendar integration is very beneficial; you can simply look at your meeting and assign a category. It's great when you have a full calendar as opposed to unscheduled tasks for the day.

**What do you dislike about Harvest?**

Whenever I move to a new box in the weekly view, it auto-saves and pops my cursor back up to the most upper-left box if I don't catch it quickly enough. It wasn't always that way, and hopefully is a glitch that the designers can solve.

We use it to ensure that employees are not being over-worked and that we are staying within our contracted hours for clients who have such contracts. We also have a category called "office closure/ooo" since we have to log at least 40 hours each week.

**What do you like best about Harvest?**

I like how easy the product is to use. We use Harvest for both time tracking and expenses. The ability to create projects and task categories to a very granular level allows for insightful analytics down the line. We are able to see where we are burning the majority of our hours, on which types of tasks, etc. As far as using Harvest for expenses, the UI is straightforward and intuitive. I don't think anyone even formally showed me around it and I was able to pick it up immediately.

**What do you dislike about Harvest?**

This may be a silly, minor gripe, but I don't love that the day doesn't auto-update. You must manually select which day you want to log your hours towards. As someone who consistently logs their hours each day, it would be nice if it defaulted to the current day. But honestly, that isn't a big deal, and it takes minimal effort to work around by checking that you're set to the correct date when you go to log your time.

We are using Harvest for timesheet management and for expense tracking. Harvest allows us to track time granularly, so we can retroactively pull and analyze our hours data to see what projects have been efficient/inefficient for us.

I like that it has two different views of how you can view your week/log your time; I like to use the daily view since it makes it easier to track my time. Another cool thing is that you can integrate your Google calendar with it and your Jira account which makes logging even faster.

We love using harvest to keep tabs on our team. We can track time to specific tasks in Asana, which we link to. Harvest and Asana are easily integrated. We have both contractors and employees, and Harvest gives us the freedom to track time on projects and track employee time. It doesn't seem like it has a contractor invoicing option, but perhaps we have overlooked it.

**What do you dislike about Harvest?**

There isn't much to dislike about Harvest. It's more or less does what it says it will do and does it well. I do get a bit confused at times with the way they format time, which can be like 1:30 or 1.30, which mean different things. The first would mean one hour, thirty minutes; the second would mean 1.3 hours.

**What problems is Harvest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are automating our time-tracking and payroll processes through the use of Harvest for our employees. It saves us a good deal of time to be able to keep everything in one place. Also, the way we are able to integrate with Asana is hugely helpful.

Very easy to use. Great for professional services organizations that employ different billing models. Reliable - uptime is high.  Integrated timesheet and estimate approval and invoicing.
