  ### 4. Great loadbalancer and WAF

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Administration | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2025

**What do you like best about HAProxy?**

It's a REALLY fast load balancer with almost limitless functionality. It's very easy to use with Fusion, which is getting more features every now and then, whilst maintaining stability. We also do really like the request explorer integrated in to Fusion.

**What do you dislike about HAProxy?**

It has not always been as easy for us to implement it in our environment, but we solved this with great help of the HAProxy team and some custom scripts provided by them. Don't forget to document this, so you remember how everything is implemented and working together.

**What problems is HAProxy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We've been looking for a new load balancer which integrates well in to our environment and came across HAProxy. We were able to integrate it on our active-active networking environment (EVPN VXLAN) with BGP to also perform active-active load balancing and use anycast addresses for the load balancers.

**Official Response from Nick Ramirez:**

> It's good to here that you got the help you needed. Thank you for leaving a review!

  ### 5. Reliable Performance with a Steep Learning Curve

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Hardware | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2025

**What do you like best about HAProxy?**

What I like best about HAProxy is its reliability and performance. It efficiently balances traffic across multiple servers, ensuring high availability and minimal downtime. Its flexibility with advanced configuration options, robust security features, and strong community support make it an excellent choice for both small and large-scale deployments.

**What do you dislike about HAProxy?**

One aspect I dislike about HAProxy is the complexity of its configuration for advanced setups. While it is extremely powerful, managing multiple frontends, backends, and ACL rules can become cumbersome, especially for larger environments. Additionally, debugging misconfigurations requires careful attention to logs and can be time-consuming.

**What problems is HAProxy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HAProxy is addressing the challenge of efficiently distributing incoming network traffic across multiple backend servers, ensuring high availability and reliability for our applications. By acting as a load balancer, it prevents any single server from becoming overwhelmed, reducing downtime and improving performance. Additionally, HAProxy provides features like health checks and failover, which help maintain seamless service during server issues. This benefits us by improving user experience, enhancing scalability, and simplifying traffic management in our infrastructure.

**Official Response from Nick Ramirez:**

> Which tasks are at the top of your list for making simpler? For instance, rate limiting? We're collecting feedback about how to simplify the configuration.

Won’t lie, the config can get pretty gnarly. It’s not always easy to validate and check ahead of time. Not anything that the age of AI doesn’t get past though

**What problems is HAProxy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

use HAProxy on EC2 to route incoming traffic to the right backend services. It solves having a single entry point and keeps things decoupled

**Official Response from Nick Ramirez:**

> Yes, we're expoloring ways to leverage AI with HAProxy.

**What do you like best about HAProxy?**

We have used HAProxy Enterprise Edition for the past 2 years. Over this time it has provided reliable load balancing and has run in the background without the need for intervention. The upgrade procedures have yet to give us any headache. The ACL system is robust for complex routing and Fusion Control Plane makes managing multiple clusters convenient. The support team is very knowledgeable and quick to respond. They have a slack channel that makes getting help pain-free and keeps things moving along.

**What do you like best about HAProxy?**

Update for 2025:

We purchased the enterprise version along with Fusion after a few years using the Aloha appliances and have been really impressed by the centralization and monitoring that Fusion provides. We have been leveraging HAPEE as a key component in our companies network now, allowing us to easily direct users to any specific datacenter we need. Support is still awesome. They are very open to receiving input from their customers.

  ### 49. Powerful, Consistent, and User-Centric Solutions with Outstanding Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Manufacturing | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2025

**What do you like best about HAProxy?**

HAProxy solutions are incredibly powerful tools. All have been build in a consistent way in order to achieve their purpose as efficiently as possible: provide visibility (logs), redundancy (loadbalancing), security (reverse-proxy).
The company mindset itself is incredibly user-centric, with an amazing support : whether I am facing an issue, raise a security concern or have an improvement suggestion, I always feel confident my voice will be heard, and in a very efficient way. This probably comes from the open-source mindset of the team!

**What do you dislike about HAProxy?**

"Disliking" is a harsh word to describe the feeling I have here. Although I think this traces back to the DNA of the team, being rooted in open-source often underlines you get to have a lot of autonomy in understanding and configuring your solution : so I agree with other people here, it can be harsh at times to "get into" the configuration of the solution.
However, this difficulty is appeased by all the support the HAProxy team is able and willing to provide : it can be difficult at times, but I never feel lonely behind my laptop when I need to work on my infrastructure.

**What problems is HAProxy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HAProxy helps us adding more granularity in the way we expose our applications.
It has also given us a very efficient way to log the flows.
And also, with HAProxy we've been able provide a very strict frame to handle our server outgoing flows.

**Official Response from Nick Ramirez:**

> The learning curve of the configuration syntax is the most challenging aspect for users, and we're working to improve this. Thank you for the feedback!

  ### 50. Easy to Use with a Smooth Migration Experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 24, 2026

**What do you like best about HAProxy?**

HAProxy is extremely fast and efficient, even under heavy traffic. It provides advanced load balancing algorithms and fine-grained control.

**What do you dislike about HAProxy?**

The configuration syntax can be difficult to understand for beginners. Debugging issues is not always straightforward, especially in complex setups.

**What problems is HAProxy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HAProxy is solving our need for reliable traffic distribution and high availability across our services. It acts as a central entry point, balancing incoming requests efficiently and ensuring that no single backend becomes a bottleneck.

**Official Response from Nick Ramirez:**

> What could we do to improve the debugging experience?
