I majorly have faced two issues: Frequent Algorithm changes - Google Ads introduces new options and new algorithm changes very frequenctly due to which campaign performances sometimes may go down after trying to optimize the campaign for a long time. New Ad formats - Namely Pmax, Though this campaign type drives good performance for some campiagns in the longer run however control around placements (Youtube) and Frequency of exposure is not available in this ad formats due to which overexposure happens. I like the Google performs max campaign which I have executed for one of our client and it turn out to be very productive ,where in one performs max campaign set up I was able to fetch the leads from Google search discovery and you tube . I have used google ads for one of our client campaign where we spend huge money on Google ads in that specifically spend more money on Google search for getting high intent leads ,which in turn profitable for our client and we were able to generate the hefty revenue from this campaign.
