One drawback of Foxit PDF Reader is that several advanced features—such as more robust PDF editing, OCR, and document conversion—are only available with a paid subscription. In addition, the free version may occasionally show upgrade prompts, which can feel distracting while you’re trying to work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Foxit PDF Reader is compact, fast, and provides me with immediate access to all relevant information. The UI is intuitive, logically structured, and not as convoluted as with other PDF readers. We use the free version and are very satisfied with it. The workflow from PDFCreator to FoxitPDF Reader works smoothly and quickly. I haven't needed support so far, as the program has always worked flawlessly. I haven't tried AI tools in the tool yet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The configuration options are numerous and extensive, but also very confusing and could be better organized. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It’s available on mobile and desktop, can be installed on various operating systems (Microsoft, macOS, Linux), and supports multiple languages. The feature set is extensive and well organized: the different tools are grouped into an easy-to-navigate, Office-style tabbed menu. Several plug-ins are also available and can be managed easily, so you can activate or deactivate them as needed.

The commenting tools are particularly rich. They let you add notes and callouts, insert text boxes, highlight text or entire areas, and draw different shapes and lines while adjusting formatting, arrangement, and alignment.

It also includes many unusual and interesting features for free, such as auto-scrolling (the document scrolls slowly on its own, without needing to move the page with the mouse or arrow keys), reading (the document is read aloud), a text viewer (only the text remains visible, while graphics and images are hidden), and a measuring tool. Files can be shared using various options, including email, Evernote, OneNote, and—via the relevant plug-in—Google Drive and Dropbox. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

More advanced PDF editing tools—such as adding, deleting, or extracting pages; adding or modifying text; OCR recognition; and exporting to Office formats—are only available in the paid version. It’s still a fairly lightweight PDF reader compared to other software, even though the latest versions have become a bit heavier and I often notice longer startup times. In earlier releases, it also included a virtual PDF printer, but that’s no longer available in the free version. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I find Foxit PDF Reader to be very user-friendly. I particularly like the extracting, combining, and rearranging the order of pages. The snapshot tool is a feature I use often. The search feature is very helpful, especially when I need to extract specific pages from large documents to share with others. Converting Word files to PDF is also something I find very useful. I downloaded Foxit because Adobe Reader felt really slow on my old laptop. Honestly, I expected another PDF reader that would look exactly the same, but it was actually much faster. Documents opened quickly, forms worked fine, and for a while I was using it for almost every PDF. It felt lightweight and didn't get in the way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What started bothering me was all the upgrade reminders and paid features being shown all the time. I understand companies need to sell products, but sometimes it felt like I was being reminded about it every time I opened a document. After a while that became more noticeable than the things I originally liked. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
