No lag in GUI- While doing modifications or switching to multiple tabs via the GUI, no lag was experienced and very quick page responses. SD-WAN- Using SD-WAN links for Internet connection is more granular to monitor application utilization and link SLA status. And using SD-WAN in IPsec VPN connection is more efficient to compare with normal fail-over configurations. Cross-product support- Without any additional WLAN controller, via FortiGate we can easily configure& monitor Forti Access points& clients and also manage Forti switch. Easy to troubleshoot- In the forward traffic log session, more details and filters are available. What do you dislike about FortiGate-VM NGFW? Customer support- Directly connecting support by using global call support will take more time to reach technical team and most of the time they ask to wait for call back. In most of the cases, after some days they will reply over the case, by asking to clarify some details and finally verified all the shared details& logs then only they will connect via remote support. No Management complexity- Integration with Forti manager& Forti Analyzer are making easier to manage and log multiple branch firewalls in single panel. Additional controls via EMS Client- By integration with FortiEMS, Endpoint Protection profiles will apply based on user on-fabric and off-fabric location. In same client by using Forti ZTNA license, additionally utilize remote VPN connectivity feature like Auto-connect, Always Up SSO and MFA, it is really helpful as remote user. Reducing deployment time- By using SDWAN Zero touch provision, in very short time we can deploy multiple firewall via remote. The thing I like the most it's the Security Fabric Integration the thing about FG it's that it isn't just a firewall , it is part of Fortinet’s Security Fabric, which means it works seamlessly with other Fortinet devices like FortiAnalyzer, FortiManager, FortiAP, FortiSwitch and many more and it allows centralized management and automation. The thing that I dislike the most It's the Firmware Stability , in terms that , versions may contain some bugs that would make you to rollback to a previous version and Couse mayor setback on the task, new firmware releases sometimes introduce unexpected bugs, especially in major updates (like 7.2 or 7.4). FortiGate NGFW is helping me solve several critical problems in my network infrastructure, especially in the areas of routing, secure remote access, and user traffic visibility. One of the biggest advantages for me is how easy and intuitive it is to configure IPsec VPNs. Whether it's for site-to-site connections or remote users, FortiGate provides a clear interface and strong encryption options that make the process both secure and user-friendly. I can quickly set up VPNs with just a few steps and be confident in the stability and protection of the tunnels. Additionally, FortiGate's routing capabilities are robust, allowing me to manage complex network topologies efficiently. Fortigate Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) has the capacity to protect the systems from different types of attacks like DOS, DDOS, brute force attacks, ransomwares, man in the middle attacks, session hijacking and more. Its intrusion detection and prevention system is very good and robust. It provides a great management console to the network administrators for monitoring security performance and fine tuning the required configurations. Its packet filtering, Anti spam and IPsec features are very good and useful. We have been using it since many years and has got a great support from OEM whenever required. The logging and alert mechanism is also very good. It is a reliable and stable product and does not affect network performance. However it is sometimes hard to configure in an existing network. Its intrusion prevention system is very good and robust. It has deep scanning capabilities which makes the life of attackers difficult. Fortigate Next-Generation Firewall provides advanced security against different types of cyber threats. It has the capacity to protect the organisation from network threats, malwares and attacks by taking action on them and blocking them if required. We can even manually block the IP addresses which seems to be suspicious. Also we can whitelist only those ports which are required. FortiGate NGFW is easy to configure and set up. The maintenance cost is low. 2. The dashboard is user-friendly and easy to understand. 3. Configuring any rule is an easy task as we can define the source, destination, ports, and services of our choice. 4. VPN configuration such as site-to-site and Remote VPN can also be configured which is much needed for organizations that have offices in different cities. 5. FortiManager helps to manage all the the FortiGate firewall hence we can do centralized management and configure all the inbound and outbound rules from one place.
