What do you like best about FortiGate-VM NGFW?

The best thing about Fortigate VM is its solid working model and high-performance security. It can be deployed across different cloud environments, and it also works as a cloud-native firewall.

I have deployed multiple VM's on VMware cloud like 02, 04,08 and its much user friendly compared to other vendors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about FortiGate-VM NGFW?

The main thing I would point out is the licensing, which is a bit complex. I still remember we had an issue importing the license: I had deployed firmware 6.4.x, and the license could not be imported. I raised a TAC case and found out that the license can only be imported after upgrading to 7.0.x, but there was no proper documentation about this limitation. Fortinet needs to improve the documentation on issues like this so we don’t get stuck.

Frequent firmware bugs are another problem, and because of that we end up upgrading FortiOS quite often. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about FortiGate-VM NGFW?

What I like the most is that it does a lot without being a pain. You get Firewall,VPN, IPS, web filtering, app control, etc.

It’s also really solid in virtual and cloud setups. Whether it’s VMware, AWS, or Azure, it spins up fast and behaves exactly like the physical FortiGates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about FortiGate-VM NGFW?

It can feel clunky at first. The interface isn’t bad, but it’s busy. If you’re new to FortiOS, menus and options don’t always feel intuitive, you’ll click around a bit before you know where things actually are. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is FortiGate-VM NGFW solving and how is that benefiting you?

FortiGate-VM gives me one place to handle security instead of juggling multiple tools. Firewall, VPN, and threat protection are all together, so management is simpler and faster.
