  ### 8. Robust and powerful VFX package.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Games | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 28, 2019

**What do you like best about Flame?**

Very robust VFX creation software possessing a ton of options for VFX artists in any industry. Once you get the hang of it, Flame is an extremely powerful toolset for creating complex VFX.

**What do you dislike about Flame?**

Flame has a somewhat high learning curve although it's no higher than any of Autodesk's other products. It'll probably take even an experienced vet a little over a month to truly get the hang of it. It's also fairly expensive, as even the monthly subscription will run you a little over $500 a month. You get what you pay for though as Flame is one of the best VFX packages I've ever used.

**Recommendations to others considering Flame:**

Flame is a little expensive, but it's well worth it considering its features and support. Whether you're in the film industry, video game industry, or any other industry dealing with computer graphics, Flame is a fantastic product and makes a stressful job slightly less stressful.

**What problems is Flame solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Flame is fantastic software for creating complex VFX such as fire, water, volumetric lighting and smoke effects.

  ### 9. Flame review for coffee

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 04, 2019

**What do you like best about Flame?**

Once your familiar in it you can mock things up pretty quickly in flame

**What do you dislike about Flame?**

Corrupt setups little bugs that come up, the 3d environment

**Recommendations to others considering Flame:**

Definitely use it, forgot about the timeline one of the biggest strengths

**What problems is Flame solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A lot of tricky cleanup shots, benefits are great in working fast

  ### 10. flame artist review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gary C. | Content Operations Manager/Digital Editor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2016

**What do you like best about Flame?**

Seamless work flow. I can do everything that I need to do inside flame without having to jump in and out of different softwares.

**What do you dislike about Flame?**

When the project tree gets too big, sometimes it's hard to find resources. I am still using the older version of flame, so I have to try out the newer version soon.

**Recommendations to others considering Flame:**

Learn all the keyboard shortcuts to speed up your workflow. If you can execute as fast as you think, you are likely to be a better artist.

**What problems is Flame solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can create without boundaries inside flame. I mean it's the best program out there for what I do. It's really fast and accurate. I haven't used a program that can track and warp better than flame.

  ### 11. Flame has always been the best

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Motion Pictures and Film | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2016

**What do you like best about Flame?**

It's still the very best tool for finishing film and commercials projects. Smoke is great too but the workflow and additional tools in flame are amazing.

**What do you dislike about Flame?**

Occasional crashes.
There seem to have been bug fixes recently that have fixed these though.

**Recommendations to others considering Flame:**

This is the best tool for compositing video.
No question.

**What problems is Flame solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Finishing film projects, Tvcs, music videos and experimental work.
I'm a director so I work as a client to many post houses finishing projects

  ### 12. Still going strong if a little unnecessary

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Motion Pictures and Film | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 13, 2016

**What do you like best about Flame?**

Flame is still the big draw for clients to do live compositing. Nuke has the ability to do more than Flame but for the interactivity and "wow" factor Flame is still much more competitive and fully featured.

**What do you dislike about Flame?**

Unfortunately Nuke is catching up all the time and Flame cannot compete any more especially at the price point. The cost is the biggest issue and having to have a dedicated Flame suite is just not something that many companies can deal with.

**Recommendations to others considering Flame:**

Try Nuke instead, Flame is out of date and falling by the wayside. In a day where everyone is using Nuke, the ability to have a million pound Flame seat seems to be more and more redundant

**What problems is Flame solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Flame is the must have for liaising directly with clients. Working on adverts or Look development for shots is fantastic with Flame.

  ### 13. Every version I see improvements.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gustavo B. | Adobe Premiere, FCP Editor, Motion GFX and VFX, Marketing and Advertising, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2016

**What do you like best about Flame?**

I like the library workflow, matchbox shader and 4k perfomance. 2015 version make Flame a very powerful tool for VFX

**What do you dislike about Flame?**

Probably what I think needs to be better is add more plug ins to use.

**Recommendations to others considering Flame:**

Yes, I think if you are into VFX you should try Flame.

**What problems is Flame solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Digital compositing and 3D integration for pharma MOA videos.
