With the External Data Connector for SharePoint, users of SharePoint gain access to variety of data imported from external sources, directly into Lists and Libraries. Documents, files, tables and items imported into SharePoint can also have their metadata updated. Necessary metadata can also be exported to the source to update it as necessary. Data is imported from multiple sources and not limited to a few formats. Metadata of imported contents is also updated in SharePoint as well as in the source. It is used as a data synchronization tool to keep both SharePoint and non SharePoint users updated with the latest version of content they use. Data can be synchronized with a variety of sources, making the External Data Connector a cross platform data and metadata synchronization tool. The query generator allows for selection of specific data before importing it into SharePoint. This makes it easy to import data from SQL into SharePoint.

**What do you like best about External Data Connector for SharePoint?**

With the External data connector for share point, we can gain access to variety of data imported from external source, directly into Lists and libraries. and also the data will get updated when changes are done to it from source side.

**What do you dislike about External Data Connector for SharePoint?**

Few of the limitations of external data connector was
1. Datasheet view is not available.
2.Export to excel option is not available
3.Cannot create information management polocies ( bar codes, auditing ...etc)
4.Inline editing is not available.
5.No version or version history.

**What problems is External Data Connector for SharePoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With the help of external data connector the problem of updating data every time when the source data was updated was gone as the data was in sync with the source data so when ever any changes done on source side will automatically reflect in sharepoint with the help of external data connector.
