What do you like best about Esri Location Data?

I love the ability to quickly see a large variety of stats for my city or state. In an instant, I can see wealth, health, education, any sort of factor I want to look at on the map. It's hard to notice trends in a table, but it becomes abundantly clear which areas are under-resourced when plotted on the map. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Esri Location Data?

It's not abundantly obvious what to do when you first start, and which factors to look at. There's metadata, but for a beginner, it would be helpful to have a guide and suggestions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Esri Location Data solving and how is that benefiting you?

Working in Adult Education, we are able to see educational attainment levels by Zip Code. We can see those without a GED. We can look at Median Household income, percent below the poverty level, those unemployed, health, etc. This helps better inform us which students might need our help, where to target efforts, and what other barriers our existing students might have. What do you like best about Esri Location Data?

Esri Demographics easily pulls Census data (and much much more) to your polygons. It makes it really easy to match demographics to counties, CBGs, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Esri Location Data?

Esri leads the pack among other ArcGis solutions by providing such a large breadth of key population characteristics to power insightful analysis and reporting of demographic data across more than 130 countries. I can say with absolute certainty that the powerful features and tools found within this award-winning software have added never before realized clarity in narrating the stories behind data clearly for decision-makers. This has lead to an exponential improvement in how we conceptualize solutions within our organization and empower better business decisions.

What do you dislike about Esri Location Data?

Almost nothing major to complain about. But, if I had to pick something to improve, I'd say the following points are the most important to consider:

You can gather detailed census data for free but otherwise, it can be somewhat costly. They do have pricing for non-profits, which I do enjoy quite a bit.

APIs can also be improved for developer use.

Finding specific information for a location can be a bit streamlined.

Takes some getting used to learning and using the software, but the overall learning curve is not too high.

Improve the ability to quickly and effortlessly create presentations using information from Esri Demographics. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Esri Location Data:

Consider organizational goals when picking out a package that would best meet those goals. Also, review pricing information for the main plans as well as add ons if you are a non-profit, a student, in education, disaster relief, or in the public sector. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Esri Location Data solving and how is that benefiting you?

The links between crime and socio-economic demographic information in major cities across the US. This has led to improved implementation and evaluation of solutions to significantly decrease crime in low-income minority neighborhoods.

I like that there is a "more robust' option for this kind of data from ACS - I put that in quotes because Esri says it's better but offers very little proof/evidence of their methodology or MOE. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

once you get into the platform, its fairly easy to navigate and pull whichever reports you need and they have a variety to choose from. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Esri Location Data?
