Handling bitcoin can be difficult can be a hard task even for the most tech savvy of users. Handling bitcoin can be outright impossible for inexperienced users. Such inexperienced users usually tend to keep their bitcoin in hot wallets, these hot-wallets are very insecure and they can lose their money easily. The alternatives to this to run one's own cold wallet, but this is very difficult for users to handle. The electrum wallet bridges this gap by giving a light wallet. It takes less than a second to create a new bitcoin address with the electrum wallet. The UI is simple to use and it is a breeze to handle multiple addresses and keys. My most favourite feature is the ability to control the amount of outbound bitcoin transaction fees. Since the software is open source the code is auditable and so it is more secure than closed source wallets like Jaxx or storing bitcoin in exchanges like poloniex or coinbase. If one keeps sending bitcoin to the same address over and over again, such an address can be stored as a contact easily and from that point onwards bitcoins can be sent with the click of a button. Electrum is one of the first wallets created for Bitcoin some time ago, and since then it has been my favorite wallet because it has many options and is very lightweight due to the fact that it doesn't take up much space on my computer, unlike other wallets.

The best thing for me about Electrum is:

+ It is not necessary to download the entire Bitcoin blockchain to function because it is synchronized with external servers maintained by the community that remotely contain the blockchain.

+ It implements the most current security options in a way that makes it almost impossible to be hacked and lose my Bitcoin. Seed, 2FA, MultiSign Wallet, offline transactions...

+ It is compatible with the latest version of Bitcoin Segwit and also supports Bitcoin Legacy.

Although Electrum is very simple and this could be a negative point for some, it is not the case for me. I believe that given the complexity of working with cryptocurrencies, it is important for wallets to be simple so that inexperienced users can use them without problems. Electrum is one of the most recognizable bitcoin wallets. The main advantage of this wallet is that it is very lightweight and maintained on external servers so that we do not need to download the chain, but only the client, which is available on all major operating systems (Windows/Linux/Mac), as well as on the Android mobile system. This product is BEST because it is Very fast, provides good safety features and privacy is kept. It is a widely used platform and easy to set up. It is not easy for beginners as there may be some struggle. It also only supports Bitcoin. Electrum is also complex to understand at first. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like that the platform is fast and easy to setup, has integration with hardware wallets, has been around for a long time (since 2011). One of the best features of Electrum is that it does not download the entire Blockchain, making it very lightweight. It uses servers to collect the information and so saves lot of memory. It is end to end protected wallet which is encrypted, so there is no way for stealing your Bitcoins.

The private key generated for encryption are used from the seed itself which is stored in the Desktop, which would save the data from being lost. As it does not download the information from Blockchain, it would be much faster to perform the transactions. As the passwords and other data is not stored on the server, it would be much secure as it would not be easy to steal the information from the desktop.

Electrum is written in Python, which is much easier and shorter to review the coding and review the work. It can sign the transactions and verify the messages offline from where it can import and export the private keys. The simplicity of its usage attracts me to this wallet. A user just has to remember their 'random set of words' or the code that they basically get when they start using the Electrum wallet and in case if they lose their laptop or hard drive or any other connected device, user can easily recover all the data securely by installing the electrum wallet using their unique code or the random set of words. I pretty much liked everything about the Electrum wallet and the cons if any(though i cannot spot one yet) can be easily ignored given the advantages of this wallet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Where to begin.

For starters, I love the fact that there is an electrum for the big three; LTC, BTC and BCH.

Next, I love (and get a lot of use out of) the wallet sweeping features. This makes claiming hard forks easy and quick. Also it makes claiming them risk free, as you can run the correct commands offline and you don't have to rely on a third party to collect your fork and rely on them to send them back to you.

Wallet sweeping also makes changing wallets seamless.

The fee adjustment is easy to use too, with a reasonable default setting.

Lastly, you don't have to wait for 6 confs to send your coins elsewhere. You choose how many confs to wait before you're happy to send.

Oh and I'll also mention clicking straight through to see a transaction on the relevant block chain.

Eveything about electrum is there by choice. It has a very plain and boring UI to reduce clutter, and it leaves you with the chance to make a mistake but it does so to give you full control of your coins. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It is completely free! =) Other things I like about this wallet are, of course, protection, reliability and privacy. It has solid privacy features and it is really really secure. I wish it supported more coins, but, alas, it supports only Bitcoin. Also, it may be a bit hard for beginners to figure everything out about how to use it properly. And another couple of things that I really don't like about this wallet are its user interface and design. Seriously though, why does it look like it came straight from 90's?
