What do you like best about Editor X?
The editor is quite intuitive. It is quite different from Wix, so those unfamiliar with Wix can easily learn how to build sites. Beyond standard Wix, Editor X truly gives you full control over every visual detail of your website.
VISUAL CONTROLS
The ability to create immersive web experiences in Editor X is amazing. As a designer/developer you have full control of views, scrolls, page/element builds, transitions and animations.
Breakpoints ensure that the website looks sharp on every type of device. If you need an exception, you can easily add another breakpoint.
CUSTOM DYNAMIC PAGES
• Setting up dynamic pages is easy.
• You can link those dynamic pages to other dynamic content such as a blog. This gives you the ability to create things like multiple bio pages with direct links to blog articles that they wrote.
• There's not much limiting user ability here.
DYNAMIC CONTENT
Repeaters allow you to design one element, such as a card containing someone's bio. The repeater will then link to a database with staff information and auto-design the rest of the layout for you with everyone's information.
APP BASED SOLUTIONS
From marketing and social media management to managing schedules, internal processes (including business flows) and invoicing. Everything A-Z is built-in and easily integrated into your site.
GREAT FOR DESIGNERS AND DEVELOPERS
Sure, advanced developers may balk at Editor X. At least until they try it. We've worked with several Fortune 100 companies and built their concept sites within Editor X... setting the bar high for devs.
IMAGE HANDLING
Editor X is amazing for retouching images and people. You have controls over everything from color correction, cropping, and effects, to an AI-driven close-cropping tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What do you dislike about Editor X?
Price. We thoroughly enjoy working in the Editor X environment. While it can make sites look better than Wix, Wix still offers better stability and database-driven features, including dynamic pages. Wix is also 10X more stable. So why charge double for a system that still feels beta? More insulting is that Wix users will find some basic Wix features are not available in the more robust Editor X.
Glitches. While the platform has periods where it is quite stable, there are periods where there will be odd behaviors.
Here are some of the glitches and quirks that drive us nuts:
• We've encountered changes reverting randomly.
• Clicking on an object and watching it suddenly change the color, add a border and add a drop-shadow involuntarily.
• Line-spacing will make you cry. You can set your CSS styling to include line-spacing in Wix, but not Editor X.
• Wix allows dynamic content within a database. This is great and empowering for clients that want to manage their own content in a beautifully controlled environment. Yet not available in the more premium Editor X.
• Navigation controls and animations. There are some controls, but it can be quirky trying to move design elements into the header.
• SVGs and databases. Yes, SVGs are allowed in the database but will break your repeater. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
