Our platform maps how teams contribute to a company's strategic goals or OKRs, or to any other customized investment buckets (e.g. features, maintenance, risk...). Echoes also measures software delivery performance using industry-standard metrics, to help understand how a team is functioning. Engineering leaders are then able to get and give visibility on how engineering efforts are truly being spent. They can easily explain how their organisation is progressing to the rest of the company. They better understand strengths and weaknesses of their organization, through data. Decisions on roadmap & priorities are then easier to take. Engineering managers can follow their teams progress through data and KPI, week by week, and better manage shadow work, or reprioritization. Echoes will help them dig into issues and follow improvement curves. Moreover, implementing Echoes is easy. Echoes is resilient. Our solution gives you an exhaustive view of the activity at the team level, even in the presence of heterogeneous processes: not all teams need to operate the same way, not everything needs to be tracked in JIRA. ## Echoes Reviews ### 1. We use the insights provided by the platform weekly in our reporting and to help the team identify potential problems in their day-to-day. This tool is really useful and easy to implement: - Easy to adopt for developers with only a tag to add to PR or Jira tickets - Quick insights, very useful to determine, for example, the shadow work/maintenance effort done by developers - Perfect to show where efforts go to strategic pillars of the company - Super easy to set up: very few hours of internal work to have a 100% functional tool. - Last but not least, the Echoes team acts really like a partner. They are super reactive to answer any questions or solve any problems. **What do you dislike about Echoes?** Honestly, it's very difficult to see things I dislike in Echoes. As with all tools, there is room for continuous improvement and more product surface, such as different ways of calculating the lead time. **What problems is Echoes solving and how is that benefiting you?** Echoes help us solve some of the following problems: - Automatically measuring the efforts put into building and running software engineers' activities (this is not a time tracker and this is clearly not the purpose here!) - Measuring the DORA metrics for our squads - Identifying if our tech department's efforts align with company strategy - Spotting forgotten open PRs through Echoes notifications ### 2. Adds little or no overhead to individual engineers' work. Does not attempt to track code-level metrics or track individual people — this is a good thing! Helpful and responsive team. **What do you dislike about Echoes?** Takes some time to get it configured in a way that provides the most value to your teams. **What problems is Echoes solving and how is that benefiting you?** It gives us visibility into how our software teams are truly spending their time (e.g. feature work versus maintenance) and allows teams ownership over correcting that when necessary to meet their targets/desires. Helps us track our improvements to delivery time, cycle time etc., and also lets engineers flag what is slowing them down (e.g. unclear requirements) so we can improve specific pain points. Helps us track the true progress towards completing, as well as identifying scope creep.
