It makes it easy to share as the retrieval and accessing process is easy. The product is user-friendly as all users can use it without any difficulty in their daily activities hence a smooth user experience. Duplicati gives its users instructions on how to use it this makes even non-tech people able to use it without difficulty once they follow the instructions. Finally, the implementation process is fully executed making the operations effective. **What do you dislike about Duplicati?** Not much to dislike but once the network connection is disrupted the backup stops and it will be completed on the next schedule this may make the backup to take a long time to upload. **What problems is Duplicati solving and how is that benefiting you?** The product makes sure that data are secure with recently updated versions also it ensures no data is lost and has a very easy and cheap method to solve the problem once it occurs. The duplicate is used more in backing up organization files which works well with no issues. This works really well and even runs on a headless server. The performance is great. It was really easy to get running and the integration with Google Drive and their APIs are awesome. We now have our backups running weekly and we know data is backed up. **What do you dislike about Duplicati?** So far we have not found any issues we have disliked. **What problems is Duplicati solving and how is that benefiting you?** We were looking for an easy solution to backup a headless Linux server into Google Drive. Duplicati fitted that role perfectly and it works really well. ### 7. It can be installed on almost any OS. It is free and open source. **What do you dislike about Duplicati?** It has to be installed on the client machine itself so in order to recover from a disaster you need to restore duplicati first which can take time. Itcan only backup directories and files, it would be awesone if it had option to backup databases and docker volumes directly. **What problems is Duplicati solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is amazingly space efficient and fault tolerant. You can backup to basically any location you can imagine as well as customizing which files to back up and which backups to keep, and it automatically performs compressed incremental backups, using fairly little storage depending on the compressability of your backups. **What do you dislike about Duplicati?** Setting it up and learning the interface may be a bit harder than some other apps, but if you're familiar with apps that expose web UIs, this will be very easy to learn and self-host **What problems is Duplicati solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use duplicati to ensure that none of my data is lost and I have a cheap backup solution that isn't just a direct file copy. Duplicati allows you to set custom very flexible backup retention rules, e.g. "keep a backup for the past hour, past few days of the week, past few weeks, then each month after that". Overall it allows me to just set and forget this service while barely worrying about backup storage costs and system crashes (even mid backup). ### 11. If you're not a "tech" person, don't run away just yet! Yes, you have to open up the instructions and put the pieces together for this one, but it really isn't all that hard and I think it's worth the effort. **What do you dislike about Duplicati?** Its a little barebones in the feature department. And if you're looking to share files and do all of that extra jazz...yeesh. Duplicati is more of a personal solution than anything else. Oh, and there' s no free storage for everyone here either. It manages your cloud backups, it doesn't host them anywhere. That's all on you to figure out and maintain. **Recommendations to others considering Duplicati:** Again, this is an open source project, and with that comes an understanding that you can handle making decisions for yourself, and troubleshooting most things yourself as well. There is no support team taking your call at 2am when you mess something up on accident. The only people associated with the project are the developers who made it. That being said, open source projects tend to have communities of users who would really love to help you with any questions you may have, but they're end users like you. That could be good or bad, but again, there's no traditional customer service here, and I'm A-OK with that! **What problems is Duplicati solving and how is that benefiting you?** Before Duplicati, I was trying to do the whole NAS thing and run automated scripts on my computer to make sure things got backed up, and it was a PAIN! Now it just set it, and pretty much forget it. ### 12. I like its user interface that is simplistic and with one click you can run a backup. It also has an option to organize folders and selectively select files. **What do you dislike about Duplicati?** A disadvantage of this software is the versioning of files, which does not update immediately and sometimes there may be duplication of data by human error. **Recommendations to others considering Duplicati:** Duplicati is a very valuable tool, because it allows you to have backup copies with high protection standards, such as the AES-256. In addition, the fact that it is free software is also valued. We benefit from the fact that we can protect backup copies and only provide access to authorized users. What I like most is that this software works with protocols such as FTP or SSH, is under AES-256 encryption and is a free software. In addition, it saves space with incremental backups. **What do you dislike about Duplicati?** The software is configured to use a fraction of the bandwidth, so if it is not checked on time, your backups may take too long to upload. **Recommendations to others considering Duplicati:** If you are looking for a tool that does not generate any implementation cost for online backup, Duplicati is your choice. What contributed most to our organization is that it is an open source software that allows us to customize its configuration to connect to our server directly. I like that you also allow backups on local external servers. In addition, time is saved because this software creates a full backup at the beginning and then updates it by adding only the parts of the data that have changed. **What do you dislike about Duplicati?** Customer service usually takes almost two days to answer a query. On the other hand, Duplicati still does not have a mobile application. **Recommendations to others considering Duplicati:** Duplicati has multiple options in the cloud, is a free software and is also encrypted with high security standards. As well it can run on a lot of platforms(MacOS, Windows, Linux) **What do you dislike about Duplicati?** - Hard to make the initial backup if it is big (so you required gradually increase backup size) - A lot of bugs (backup interrupts too easily) - Hard to set up right permissions so it will access all files. **Recommendations to others considering Duplicati:** I think the app is still very unfriendly for non-technical users. Support of the most popular remote storages and protocols. Ability to backup any folders you want and therefore do complete backup with system folders. **What do you dislike about Duplicati?** Network interruptions stop backup and it will continue only on the next scheduled run. The interface is unintuitive in some parts and sometimes overly complicated(for example not many people will schedule many different backups for a computer, but the interface is designed for that). **Recommendations to others considering Duplicati:** If you are not satisfied with other options like BackBlaze(which doesn't backup all data) it should be a good choice. **What problems is Duplicati solving and how is that benefiting you?** Making sure all data will be safe with multiple previous versions.
