Dotmatics software has been a powerful tool in our drug discovery program. In particular, Vortex has been highly effective at analyzing countless chemical and physical properties of compound libraries and generating impressive 2D and 3D graphs. The implementation of an electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) to replace traditional paper notebooks was something that Epichem was always keen to get on-board with. Despite the sometimes daunting and huge task to move from paper books to an ELN, Dotmatics has made the process very approachable and have guided us every step of the way.

They have provided Epichem with extensive resources during the set-up, including many virtual meetings to help understand the fully customisable system to cater to our every want and need, and tailoring our specific system so we get the most out of it.

The Dotmatics team has always been very approachable, with no request deemed too hard, and a support line always on standby. Dotamtics has also provided training for Epichem’s scientists, showing how flexible the system can be and intuitive at the same time.

It serves as a data umbrella that brings our chemical and biological data together. The annual admin requirement in terms of total hours is actually low. Support is really good, not perfect. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It is "tinkery". Some of the things I have to do as an admin are surprisingly fussy and detailed. Ids have to be plucked from special places. The number of tables is amazing. Sometimes, there is no way to know where specific information comes from without pinging Support. It would help to have a schema and better tools for finding where values come from. The Browser and Vortex interface was familiar from previous experience,which was reassuring, and most tools run within a browser/ can be hosted in the cloud, minimising maintenance costs. The "out of the box" Register solution is fit for purpose, but also readily customisable to individual needs. This was done under expert guidance from the implementation team, who went above and beyond to do this to my requirements. They were also on hand to deal with the migration of legacy data which is a non-trivial task and not for the faint-hearted! Dotmatics is a large company and the initial contacts felt slow to get off the ground in order to establish the business relationship, but this takes effort on both sides, of course. Once it had been decided which products were needed and how much implementation/ training time this would involve, it took further time to get the cloud instance up and running and get an implementation team together.
