Actually, this is not one program, but a whole package for end-to-end design (from idea to files for production) including a schematic editor, a PCB editor, a component editor and an editor for their enclosures, and a 3D enclosure editor. Well, all sorts of usefulness like converting from various formats, various libraries, an autorouter and much more. There is also a 64 bit version. In this program, I liked the ability to draw a schematic diagram, and then use an auto-router to create a printed circuit board. Of course, you have to edit it yourself later. It is possible to automatically position and trace in parts. There is a 3-D visualization of the printed circuit board. The program is mastered very easily and quickly. **What do you dislike about DipTrace?** In DipTrace is unable to generate all required documentation with a given templates Eagle's free terms and DipTrace's free terms differ in favor of Eagle. You can use the free Eagle as much as you want, and the restrictions are very mild, completely satisfying the radio amateur in most cases - the size of the board is 10 cm by 8 cm, two layers, you can draw a diagram only on one sheet. FreeWare in its purest form. Now compare with DipTrace - use it for free for only 30 days, or buy. That is why Eagle reigns supreme on the Internet. It is clear that we in Russia or in Ukraine (for the time being) don't care about anything - even Proteus, even PCAD, even though Altium and use it for health, but in the bourgeoisie it is somehow not accepted. However, we are far from indifferent to how much the tool that we are going to use will be in demand. Therefore, when choosing a PCB design system, I looked primarily at popularity, chose Eagle and have no regrets. Prices for DipTrace are quite reasonable, and if it were as popular as Eagle, then I would probably choose DipTrace to study and buy the full version - not so expensive. **What problems is DipTrace solving and how is that benefiting you?** make my diploma at university and create PCB for drone What DipTrace has - to immediately understand why it is cool: DipTrace has extensive functionality (as for an amateur CAD system) and good, well-thought-out ergonomics. DipTrace is easy to learn (the so-called "low entry threshold"). DipTrace in Russian - both interface and tutorial. Indeed - a trifle, but nice. DipTrace is well debugged and not buggy (for example, I had no freezes or crashes). ### 3. I have been using Dip Trace it for 11 years. User interface is simple and dark color scheme is really easy on eyes. There are options to add custom build components libraries or to customize available components with personalized properties. Auto rout feature for multilayered PCBs is a life saver. The schematic capture feature is also very handy, it makes the process fast and hustle free, which leaves more time for innovative workload. 3D view is perfect for real scale visualization and presentations. The export options are mostly cover everything with tool selection for PCB milling machines. **What do you dislike about DipTrace?** Only thing missing is you can not export direct G-Code from Dip Trace, that would be the last jewel in the crown. The Pad properties tab is a bit confusing for new users, that can be improved to be more user friendly. Other than that the can improve the overall user experience by adding libraries for most recent controllers along with their 3d models. There is nothing much to dislike about the product. **Recommendations to others considering DipTrace:** It is highly recommend for use in any scale, given the price it is sold for, there wont be any regrets. And if you wanna use it as a student or for small scale personal use the free version is also packed with all premium features. **What problems is DipTrace solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am using it for product development in my current role as a Design & Automation Engineer. I am using Dip Trace to prototype my products and also generating Gerber data for mass production orders. The exported PCB in Gerber format can directly be imported in FlatCam with multiple tool selection and drilling options for our milling machines. ### 4. Prompt response from technical support. Great user interface and good set of built in objects like fiducials and static vias. Also good set of 3D model libraries and pattern libraries including the IPC standard patterns. Several sub libraries of famous IC manufacturers for fast finding and selection of the components in schematic capture. Great updates with lots of new features and bug fixes. **What do you dislike about DipTrace?** Can be improved in terms of 3D CAD component libraries and viewer. Also no built-in version control. Some times bugs would take a while before a version upgrade is released. There can also be improvements on the selection of program background other than white and black (e.g. blue!). It can be a bit lag-y when load 3D models. Overall, not much to seriously dislike especially with the great price point of this software. I had a good experience with technical support on multiple occasions! **Recommendations to others considering DipTrace:** Be ready for a seamless productive PCB CAD experience with Diptrace. Particularly useful to get you started if you don't have experience with other similar PCB design software. Please don't hesitate to contact support when you feel the need to, they have always been thorough and prompt. I also recommend using the latest version 4 of Diptrace as it come with plenty more useful features and an expanded component and pattern library. The community forums is also a good place to look at FAQ and insights from other users as well as the diptrace team. Simple and easy to learn with great prompt support. From "starter" to "standard" and finally "full", DipTrace comes in all sizes to suite your PCB design needs at various skill and complexity levels! Definitly a great value for what you get! **What problems is DipTrace solving and how is that benefiting you?** Ease of use in pattern and component creation with plenty of them available in the diptrace libraries. This makes schematic creation and PCB layout smoother. DipTrace helps me to work faster and with less overheads with a simple and clutter-free user interface. I found Diptrace to be a good pcb layout software to teach to novice users including some of my colleagues who had no previous experience in pcb CAD. This is also enforced by the fact that they can install a free time-limited version on their personal machines to practice from home. Diptrace never glitch and broken when I worked. It is very stable soft. **What do you dislike about DipTrace?** The DipTrace community niw is not very big. **Recommendations to others considering DipTrace:** I have using Diptrace and KiCAD for everyday work. I can compare those soft: DipTrace a little weak than Altium, but it more powerfull than KiCAD. DipTrace have a good editing tools. For examle: you moving a fragment of sheme to another place and the connections for all lines are keeps. Also for PCB editor: if you drag element the traces are strentching but keeping. You can create variable wide traces. It suitable fir connection integrated circuit with thin contacts to a more wide traces. Sometimes I can find some components to need me. It is not a problem - I can create symbols and footprints in embedded pattern editor and component editor. Library components are very recent. easy to edit existing components, auto aligning components is very useful. One click conversion from schematic to pcb is really good. Switching between different layers is easy. Good graphic hardware support, texture looks really nice. Design verification engine is easy to configure and catches every problem, one definitely needs to use it before sending design to production. When I need to add a custom component to library, I use Pattern Editor, it is easy to use does good job. **What do you dislike about DipTrace?** Track, Via and other objects lack ready to use templates, constructing missing parts is hard especially ICs of 40 pins or more, It would be good to have text based component construction, copy paste of object attributes would also be beneficiary. Track classes needs to have some templates. auto-placement is not good enough, 3D models are not updated long time. 3D model installer would be better if it support selective component install. Resetting object padding and rotate is missing.
