**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Machinery | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 08, 2026

**What do you like best about Designcenter?**

I think it's great that Designcenter NX is an integrated software. Everything is combined in one solution, and I have no issues with interfaces to other software systems. Additionally, all downstream processes can be derived from a master model, which is really practical: If something is changed on the master model, the subsequent processes are adjusted accordingly.

Especially in the CAM area, I can program all types of machines and technologies – milling, turning, and additive. Through the NX Open API, I can also develop my own tools to standardize and automate processes. The semi-annual main releases also regularly provide new and improved functions.

The price is relatively high, but when you compare it with other products where you would have to buy CAD/CAM/simulation separately, it puts it into perspective, and the price is understandable to me.

Siemens is working very hard on the integration of AI. The implemented copilot is a great help and has very specific NX knowledge. This way, you quickly get summarized support and approaches to problem-solving.

**What do you dislike about Designcenter?**

Partially, the performance for computationally intensive functions could be improved. Many functions only compute on a single processor core, and I think computation via the GPU would be very advantageous. It is not very intuitive; as a beginner, you definitely need support from experts and plenty of training.

**What problems is Designcenter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Designcenter NX is an integrated software that allows me to work with just one system.

**What do you like best about Designcenter?**

There are lots of ways to get the job done. The other modules feel endless, and I can always find something that does exactly what I need.

**What do you dislike about Designcenter?**

Handling of large models. When geometry gets complicated and gets plentiful it starts to struggle. And this is not large assembles, it's assemblies with large models. NX can easily get stuck in an update loop that is often hard to determine what is the cause of the updates. Sometimes the large amount of interconnectivity can be volatile and a simple non-geometric tweak can make an entire model structure update, ultimately ending in no updates to geometry.

**What problems is Designcenter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we;ve been on NX for some time now, so there are not too many problems being solved, outside of small improvements to our existing workflows. We are moving to TC which I feel is going to open up doors for more major improvements.

I like the tight integration between CAD and FEM models which totally avoids any kind of exporting and importing needs for conducting FEA analysis. The graphics and its ability to handle large assemblies have improved over the years. And I also love the model cleanup tools where I was able to delete similar sized features all in one click as it detects and selects all the instances automatically once I select the feature. This significantly reduces the preprocessing time.

**What do you dislike about Designcenter?**

My last responce on this has not improved yet. Still I have to search for a specific command to access it. For example 'Custom Symbol' command. Commands should not repeat in different workbench. Serious Improvement is need in Command Organization. Sketch tool constraints are too annoying. For example, deleting relations for a curve is a headache..Once I click a curve or line, user should have clear list of constraints on that curve..User should be able delete them easily.

**What problems is Designcenter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

NX helps in Designing our products,it helps in completing interference check of complex assemblies.

It is simple to use and pretty quickly you are able to get the hang of modeling in Siemens NX 12 in the CAD environment. There is modeling, assembly, layouts, constraints, reference sets, arrangements and sequencing that help you better visualize your models within an assembly. It is a super simple implementation with SAP PLM environment and is used weekly if not on a daily basis.

**What do you dislike about Designcenter?**

I don't really have a downside for siemens NX CAD other than that you are limited to what you can design because of licensing. There is a lot more potential for the CAD environment but depending on what your field/company needs that's all they'll buy.

**What problems is Designcenter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is solving tolerancing, layouts and clearances that we might need to see virtually before applying it in real life at our plant. Meaning that we are seeing it on the computer before hitting or going out of tolerance before installing any sort of equipment, tooling, assemblies and much more.

**Official Response from Tomaz Povsic:**

> Thank you for sharing your positive experience! We're thrilled to hear that you find it simple to use and that it is helping you save time and resources by allowing you to see potential issues virtually before implementing them in real life.
