## Deepnote Reviews
  ### 1. Deepnote makes me feel like I have superpowers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rob R. | Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2024

**What do you like best about Deepnote?**

I love how it works where ever I am - no matter what physical machine I am on at the time.

I love the AI - it helps me so much with code, allowing me to focus on great questions.

It is simple to set up, run and maintain. I switch on an work - simple as that!

I love the interface and workspace - as a self taught data person (50yrs old) I find it allows me to focus on the data and not the IDE.

**What do you dislike about Deepnote?**

Where are downsides? Well ok...if I have to find some then maybe because it is cloud based some of my future clients might be concened about privacy but I feel you have that covered.

**What problems is Deepnote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Deepnotes let me tackle data problems I would have considered above my wirght category. I am new and self taught and Deepnore maks me feel like we can teach old dogs new tricks.

  ### 2. very good but not quite perfect

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jackson G. | full stack engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 31, 2025

**What do you like best about Deepnote?**

everything basically works as expected -- in particular i like the file system

**What do you dislike about Deepnote?**

i should be able to just pay by the hour without registering for a plan, if i'm going to pay by usage anyways.

**What problems is Deepnote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

real time colloboration

  ### 3. A great tool with room for improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2024

**What do you like best about Deepnote?**

Ability to share work, and run complex translations across multiple data sources.
The AI coding is helpful, but still requires a knowledge of coding to get the most out of it.
App support is good but limited.

**What do you dislike about Deepnote?**

AI is too quick to just remove entire required functions to fix code errors, rather than identify what the real issue is.

The App support is lacking input options (select an option, input a value), which we could really do with as you can't have to the code wait for something before continuing. Some aditional visualisation like progress bars would be helpful.

More syntax highlighting would be helpful in the code

An update to built in libraries like pandas would also be helpful

**What problems is Deepnote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to translate dirty and vaired data for automotive products. This includes passing through AI api calls and pulling in manual translation spread sheets.
The final outcome would be an app that a non technical person could run to perform complex translations of data.

  ### 4. DataJam project using deepnote

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 27, 2024

**What do you like best about Deepnote?**

I like the collaborative nature of the tool. Our team of 3 are able to see each others' progress using multiple notebooks in the same workspace, which is what make our project possible in a short timeframe.

**What do you dislike about Deepnote?**

Machine is getting restarted too often/soon. I know we are having the free/education version, so resource is limited. But it seems like I spent a lot of time waiting for machine to start up during the project implementation. I would like to see a longer timeout if possible. I would also like to see support of newer version of python. I think the default was 3.9 when we first create the workspace.

**What problems is Deepnote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use this tool to analyze college accessibility using publicly available data. It is part of a DataJam competition that a group of college students put together.

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2024

**What do you like best about Deepnote?**

The Ai capabilities when compared to Hex. I can write prompts to get code that is usually 75% of the way there for my relatively simple data analysis. I also like the integrated SQL/python environment and integration with bigquery

**What do you dislike about Deepnote?**

I'm still getting used to the ui and finding things or how to do things. I search in the help docs and don't get results. For example, what about 2fa?

**What problems is Deepnote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm able to analyze the data in my bigquery project in different ways and create decent visualizations which are mostly line charts and bar charts. I do wish the built in charts had more features like trend lines and types of trend lines, etc. I'll probably just use a python library for now

**What do you like best about Deepnote?**

Mostly time to market. We use deepnote for internal data analysis. It's very easy for the data scientist to publish a notebook and also for non-technichal people at the company to use. We always start with a deepnote app before moving to a production model or dashboard.

**What do you dislike about Deepnote?**

I think it could be less "cody", with a mode made for non technichal staff. Perhaps this exists and we are just not using it.

**What problems is Deepnote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

If we have an idea that we want to test, such as running a cashback campaign for VIP users, we can quickly make a small deepnote app and start testing the idea without worrying about the infra. If it's successfull, we then move it to something more automated and robust.

Deepnote allows us to prototype quickly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nishu L. | Founder & CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2024

**What do you like best about Deepnote?**

Deepnote's easy to use notebook interface powered by it's cloud-based compute has been a gamechanger for our team. We haven't had to deploy some of our core algorithms to GCP / AWS to do small prototypes, using Deepnote instead. We've even gone as far as building basic prototype apps and embeds using Deepnote. All of this supporting us towards building a functioning MVP.

**What do you dislike about Deepnote?**

The file management system can be really frustrating. We have been uploading and creating datasets inside of Deepnote, and often accessing the data and moving files into different areas via the interface feels clunky. I end up using terminal because it's a little more seamless, but would prefer a more responsive interface.

I like how easy are the integrations with databases and storage sources like s3 and github. we frecuently use it for data collection. so start a new project is very easy. it has some libraries alredy installed and the guidance makes the support very smooth. because is based on jupyter notebook, implementation of projects are the same we used to do it before

**What do you dislike about Deepnote?**

Creating input controls, the buttons controls are complicated to use or program

**What problems is Deepnote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ETL environment, database access.

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2024

**What do you like best about Deepnote?**

It allows us to collaborate in real-time with team members, has a great user-friendly interface, and connects with a wide range of data sources, making it all more convenient! It's also inexpensive when compared with other data science tools.

**What do you dislike about Deepnote?**

Working with large datasets can be slow, and I wish there were more customizable options to visualize data, but the current options are still great.

**What problems is Deepnote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is so much easier to collaborate in real time with the team while integrating with a variety of data sources such as GitHub, SQL, and Google Drive. We can also easily share notebooks with others to review our work and for anyone else to extend the work using the existing notebooks.

  ### 37. Fairly straightforward

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Logistics and Supply Chain | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2024

**What do you like best about Deepnote?**

Deepnote has been instrumental for our data team to run exploration and creating MVPs for different teams. The number of integrations that Deepnote provides helped the team to plug into different tools to extract data and to send data. We have created 19 data apps in less than 6 months and data apps also enabled us to provide self-serve analytics to our data users.

**What do you dislike about Deepnote?**

IT would be great that we also have an integration to streaming data such as Kafka but otherwise there is no complain at all

**What problems is Deepnote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Analytics platform without investing much on an engineer maintaing an org's Jupyter notebook server

  ### 39. Useful, intuitive but sometimes slow.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 27, 2024

**What do you like best about Deepnote?**

I like that deepnote is rather intuitive, it is versatile, allowing you to code and take notes in the same place. I use it almost every day. It allows easy integration of many packages. There is an option for customer support.

**What do you dislike about Deepnote?**

It lags a lot. It can be glitchy and take a long time to run a programme and may randomly stop working at times.

**What problems is Deepnote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Deepnote allows me to collaborate with other people on the same project which is a life saver when trying to code something with other people. It also requires no need to download the programme, which is helpful as it can be used across different devices.

  ### 40. Deepnote allows live collaboration on ipnyb files

Deepnote can easily change params in Big Query integrations with variables inputed by user, with a simple app interface, which is ease of implementation. Futhermore, the app allows you to create simple visualization for users with limited data permissions.

**What do you dislike about Deepnote?**

One thing that i dislike about Deepnote is the lack of a button to run blocks after some chunk of blocks.

**What problems is Deepnote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Some plots and data frame modifications are easily mae with python, instead of SQL

  ### 42. very great for managing experiments!

**What do you like best about Deepnote?**

It is great for using a notebook simultaneously with other team members. It has many great features for customization and the AI is solid.

**What do you dislike about Deepnote?**

Occasionally slow to load notebooks. There's a latency and responsiveness issue that might be inherent with web apps, which has been frustrating. Sometimes I wish there were more choices of machines I could use that have better rates. Not sure if it's a browser issue, but I had issues logging in for the longest time. It would take me to a landing page every time I wanted to log in with a different email, so I couldn't even figure out how to log in and needed to use a different computer or browser, or pull up an old email.

**What problems is Deepnote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps with collaboration. It's nice to be able to work on a project with someone else.

  ### 48. Excellent

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

Fixing minor mistake by itself. Suggesting keywords while writing codes.

**What do you dislike about Deepnote?**

The machines stops sometimes, one time I had this project and I had to redo it again because the codes stopped working as they were working before.

**What problems is Deepnote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am able to to finish my work faster than on Jupyter notebook through Anaconda

  ### 49. Powerful and straightforward way to play with your data

- Supports connecting to warehouses via SSH tunnels
- AI SQL writing has helped my team inexperienced in writing such queries
- Shareable charts into tools like Notion

**What do you dislike about Deepnote?**

- Have to reset machines that i unintentionally start infinitely long queries
- Can only set a single page in a notebook to run periodically

**What problems is Deepnote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easily explore our data and sharing that story with people who aren't in Deepnote.

  ### 50. Deepnote Closes The Knowledge Gap

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bryn H. | Student, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2024

**What do you like best about Deepnote?**

It was so helpful to use Deepnote to further my projects that would've been limited if I didn't have access to Deepnote due to the lack of data science skills or knowledge. It is so easy to use and is keeping up with the times of AI.

**What do you dislike about Deepnote?**

It is like any AI machine where sometimes you must work with it, sometimes repeating yourself or having to redo the prompt because you didn't include EVERYTHING you needed in your prompt.

**What problems is Deepnote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves how I am able to complete my projects and what projects I take on since sometimes the projects require more knowledge than I have.
