You can set it up in a way that you get a randomized sample of your data and have everyone in your team try to use the same codes to code the same data and then the system itself compares how closely you are calibrated to your teammates. **What do you dislike about Dedoose?** I feel like, more often than not, you get some very slow system to work with. It is as if the software itself is slow and 'heavy'. I have lost some progress because of not having a save button and you can only rely on the system to auto save **What problems is Dedoose solving and how is that benefiting you?** Dedoose if helping resolve problems for all types of qualitative data analysis and research. Personally, it is the most helpful for working or collaborating with other researchers ### 2. It took them over a month to generate an invoice. Then it was wrong. They do not answer the phone so you can not talk to a live person. It takes them days to respond to emails. Frankly, it has disrupted my research. **Recommendations to others considering Dedoose:** Web-based is great but the customer support is lacking. **What problems is Dedoose solving and how is that benefiting you?** No benefits over NVivo and Hyperresearch at this time. ### 4. For me, I work with dedoose only for coding purposes, coding for a research project. And dedoose is helpful that I can access dedoose easily through that. **What do you dislike about Dedoose?** I do not like how the home page of dedoose is actually quite hard to navigate when you first start using it. There are a lot of components, features, and things going on with the home page dashboard. And there are multiple tabs as well. This set up makes it a bit hard for someone who is new to using dedoose and needs to figure out how to navigate through the tabs and etc. **Recommendations to others considering Dedoose:** Dedoose is great for coding, but this is only what I have used it for. In addition to this, I do know that dedoose is also used for recruiting purposes in research studies. If you would like to recruit participants for a reserach study that is online, I do know that dedoose is good for this - I heard from other colleagues. **What problems is Dedoose solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use dedoose to solve coding disrepancies for a research project. Two people on team (the two coders) have coded text based on behavioral targets, and I use Dedoose to log in to help them resolve any coding disrepancies and check that both independent coders are on the same page. benefits - dedoose is easy to use in that regard. I know to go to the tab "Media" and click on the project I am working on and just work in there. ### 5. This software makes it so easy to code and analyze qualitative data. **What do you dislike about Dedoose?** Sometimes the browser edition was very slow and it was difficult to get in contact with support. **What problems is Dedoose solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are attempting to distinguish the coping mechanisms for young black males that have experienced homicide or violent injury in their past. ### 6. However, sequential import(one-by-one) is takes very less time. **Recommendations to others considering Dedoose:** I think for research analysis,dataset preparation, data validation, analytics this is one of the best software and much easier to operate than Excel. for e.g. Pivot tables etc. Also, make sure your flash is upgraded for any browser you use as the software doesn't have integrated Adobe flash in their software and it is needed externally. **What problems is Dedoose solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am in research field and this software is used for research analysis basically text-analysis for preparation of data-set , defining of features, dimensions etc, coding of data in spreadsheet is a cumbersome effort. Dedoose make's the text/content analysis very easy, along-with import/export feature to different file formats. ### 7. My favorite thing about it is that it allows you to see what codes other have already suggested, and this is great because it makes the process a lot more efficient and allows us to build on each others work. **What do you dislike about Dedoose?** I am a fairly new user, and have not run into anything that I do not like yet. However, when I first started it took be a bit to figure out where everything is located, but now that I know the basics the app seems pretty straightforward. **Recommendations to others considering Dedoose:** This is great for research teams whose members are not located in the same place. It makes coding of interviews and focus groups really easy to coordinate. **What problems is Dedoose solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are using dedoose for a university research project. Our team is not always in the same location, and dedoose makes it easier to continue collaborating when we are not meeting. ### 8. I've yet to find anything else that matches Dedoose on features and price point. **What do you dislike about Dedoose?** Setting up a project is a massive time sink. The onerous process has catalyzed many many many moments of procrastination and frustration and searching for an alternative. **Recommendations to others considering Dedoose:** Take time to get the project setup properly! It will make ALL the difference. Also, reach out to their customer support team. Everyone I've ever heard from there has been super helpful. **What problems is Dedoose solving and how is that benefiting you?** Mixed methods research and quisitive inquiry! ### 9. I like the ease of importing and exporting. **What do you dislike about Dedoose?** It is very hard to learn how to use, having an example project is not enough training. **What problems is Dedoose solving and how is that benefiting you?** Inputting evaluations from inmates in the prison systems. Their responses are written out so it is difficult to analyze without software like this. ### 10. It's similar in terms of how to code information. **What do you dislike about Dedoose?** I always get user errors and sometimes that software does not work well in general. I find it more frustrating to use as compare to other qualitative software. **What problems is Dedoose solving and how is that benefiting you?** i am trying to do rare disease research through qualitative research and interviewing by providing more information about clinical trials. ### 11. I liked that multiple users could work on one project. The layout for the program is easy to follow. **What do you dislike about Dedoose?** Formatting for exporting work was not easy to read. Also the monthly cost made it unsustainable for prolonged use in the office our size. **Recommendations to others considering Dedoose:** Definitely use if you are going to be working a group! **What problems is Dedoose solving and how is that benefiting you?** Used to organize and categorize dozens of documents being referenced for a guidebook. Realized the use of it for organizational purposes in addition to its traditional use as a text analyzer for qualitative research. ### 14.
