## Crystal Ball Reviews
  ### 1. Crystal Ball Review

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Oil & Energy | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 26, 2020

**What do you like best about Crystal Ball?**

User interface very friendly, ease of use is important for continued use (not dropping the software for another alternative),

**What do you dislike about Crystal Ball?**

Would like the ability to display more uncertainty data.

**What problems is Crystal Ball solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reserves estimates. Understanding between input data and how this affects results distributions

  ### 2. An useful tool for the aspiring Finance graduates and people in Finance

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Raiyan J. | Management Trainee Officer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 14, 2020

**What do you like best about Crystal Ball?**

Hands down, the user friendliness of the software. In our MBA program, we are given 20 business cases to be solved and interpret with the help of Oracle Crystal Ball software. Unfortunate part was out instructor did not even give a hint on how to use this software. But after installing it, and using it for 2-3 days, it became very simple for us to use by our self! Within 1 week, we somewhat became expert in using the suite.

**What do you dislike about Crystal Ball?**

Throughout the usage, I have not realized any ground breaking issue with Crystal Ball. But however, occasional crashes in middle of simulation process, even though very rare, are very much disappointing. Another problem I faced was that the add-ins from the excel would sometime disappear even though I have customized settings to open Crystal Ball every time I open excel. I was particularly annoying when middle of the case presentation, we were suppose to run the simulation and interpret the data to the audiences. Costed the valuable time of the audiences in that process.

**Recommendations to others considering Crystal Ball:**

The software is very user friendly. I think it is mandatory for Finance graduates to have a great deal of idea about simulation and scenario analysis and Crystal Ball can easily be used to perform those tasks. It helps in interpreting financial models in more confidence manner.

**What problems is Crystal Ball solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mainly business cases. When building a financial model, so many assumptions are made. In real world, those assumptions do not match the expectations in precise manner. So, we have to have a range within which the value will fall based upon the volatility of our assumptions and thus, we can provide recommendations to approach the business problem. Crystal Ball helps in determining the range through simulating thousands of scenario simulations. As a result, we can easily interpret the result to the audiences. Another time I used crystal Ball 5 months ago in evaluating a start up model. The plan was to provide our confidence, and range within which the angel investors will get value investing in the start up. Crystal Ball proved to be very efficient in convincing them. People trust statements backed by numbers.

**What do you dislike about Crystal Ball?**

The Excel add-in is prone to occasional crashes on my laptop, and the add-in occasionally has to be re-installed, especially after version updates.

**What problems is Crystal Ball solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's helpful forecasting probabilistic events. There's a steep learning curve to understand what you're doing, but the software itself is very easy to use and interpret

  ### 4. Very useful add-in for Excel which does not lose validity

**What do you like best about Crystal Ball?**

It is very easy to dock with Microsoft Excel and its options are very useful to make risk analysis and predictions in any numerical data set that you have in a simple table. Unlike other risk analysis and forecasting programs, with Crystal Ball you don't have to learn unknown formats or special modeling languages. This tool has a wide variety of options that could be applied in different business areas, especially in engineering projects, obtaining reliable results widely accepted worldwide. The predefined reports that show either in the input data as they originate as a result of the simulation itself.

**What do you dislike about Crystal Ball?**

Although it is a very complete complement, for many the learning curve is a bit steep. However, once you manage to overcome that barrier or have the right training, it will be a very valuable tool.

**Recommendations to others considering Crystal Ball:**

Very useful to perform risk analysis of any data set you have in Microsoft Excel or SPSS.

**What problems is Crystal Ball solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With this tool we have been able to carry out better analysis of evaluations and specify better projections to estimate many behaviors of various variables inherent to each project.
