"Overcharged for months, and they wouldn't produce the evidence"
0.5/5
What do you like best about Cookiebot by Usercentrics?

As a compliance product, the consent tool does its job. It scans the site, categorises cookies, and serves a working consent banner, and the initial setup was straightforward. If the billing and support matched the product, I would rate it well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cookiebot by Usercentrics?

The billing model, and the handling of a billing dispute. Cookiebot charges by the number of subpages its scanner finds, but the scanner cannot distinguish a genuine page from a filtered view of the same page. A filter plugin on our WordPress site briefly produced several thousand query-string URLs (e.g. /resources/?filter=…), and a scan on 8 March 2026 counted each as a distinct subpage – over 10,000 "pages" on each of two domains that in reality hold well under 1,000. Both were pushed onto the Extra Large tier, and our monthly charge for the two jumped from £50 (2 × £25) to £156 (2 × £78). Under their terms a charge based on that scan may be technically permissible, and I accept that – though it is neither fair nor client-oriented.

What followed is the real complaint. The fault existed only briefly in March and was fixed soon after; it did not persist for months. Yet Cookiebot kept charging the Extra Large tier through April, May and June, with no sign of a fresh scan in any of them. I caught the overcharge only in June. When I raised it, Cookiebot conceded the page count was wrong but offered to refund a single month as a "gesture of goodwill" – it was not goodwill, it was a plain overcharge.

I then asked for the dated scan behind each disputed month, the one document that would prove the charge. I was told the scan was "the exact same" for every invoice and that sending them would be "redundant"; later, that each scan "accurately reflected the site at the time each invoice was generated". Both cannot be true. If the fault was fixed after March, the later counts were not identical to March – so either no fresh scan was run, and the charges rested on no current data at all, or the claim is simply false. By Cookiebot's own rule that pricing reflects the scan at the time of billing, one March scan cannot justify three separate later months. And the tier only ever moved one way: it escalated automatically when the count rose, but never came back down when the real count fell – always in Cookiebot's favour.

In the end Cookiebot refunded only the final month, refused April and May on identical facts, and declared the matter "closed" because I had raised it months later. Raising a charge late does not make it correct, and a vendor does not settle a dispute by announcing it is closed.

Above all, Cookiebot has refused to produce the actual scans for the disputed months – the only evidence that could show whether those charges were ever justified under its own terms. It insists the charges are correct while declining to prove it. A company confident in its billing would simply show the scans. That refusal, more than anything, is why this is a zero from me. Response from Hanna Sternkopf of Cookiebot by Usercentrics

Hello Aleksei,

Thank you for your detailed feedback. We're glad the compliance product itself has been working well for your sites.

Regarding your billing concerns - our pricing is based on the number of subpages detected during scans, and the URL list on which your invoices were based was shared with you by our support team. When query-string URLs are generated by plugins on a site, our scanner counts these as individual pages, which is why we recommend reaching out to support to apply a filter when this occurs so that these URLs are excluded from future scans.

We did refund your most recent invoice and remain open to helping you ensure your setup accurately reflects your actual page count going forward. If you'd like to continue the conversation, our support team is available at support@cookiebot.com.

Kind regards,

The Cookiebot Team

"Updated Review of Cookiebot for my preferred cookie solution"
4/5
What do you like best about Cookiebot by Usercentrics?

Now even easier to implement than previously with the new plugins and so on they have now. I used the one for Wix and was just a toggle on. Personally I like the usercentrics design similarly or better than the cookiebot Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cookiebot by Usercentrics?

I had a case where I had one cost on something like 8 euro and then added another domain and suddenly the cost went a lot more up, to like 40-50 euro. So didn’t understand this and the new site had less subpages than the original one. Also there are many competitiors now and many embedded cookie consent options for free in the website builders Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless Compliance with Strong Automation Benefits"
4/5
What do you like best about Cookiebot by Usercentrics?

Cookiebot by Usercentrics provides a user-friendly UI/UX along with smooth integration processes (such as those in WordPress and Google Tag Manager).

The software's automatic scan function and intelligent consent system guarantee good performance as well as compliance.

The affordable cost structure and simple onboarding process yield good return on investment.

Cookiebot offers a great combination of usability and automation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cookiebot by Usercentrics?

The interface of Cookiebot might not seem as up-to-date or sophisticated as some other tools’ interfaces.

The pricing/return on investment of Cookiebot can become expensive when dealing with larger amounts of traffic or multiple domains.

Performance is slightly impacted because Cookiebot is a third-party solution.

Support is available, but at times it may take a while to respond to certain inquiries. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Cookiebot by Usercentrics?

What I like best about Cookiebot by Usercentrics is how easy it is to implement and manage on an ongoing basis. The automatic cookie scanning and consent-based blocking save time and reduce manual effort while supporting compliance needs. I also appreciate its integration with Google Consent Mode, which helps align privacy requirements with analytics and advertising workflows. The banner customisation options are another strong point, because they make it easier to maintain a professional website experience while staying transparent with users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cookiebot by Usercentrics?

I do not have any major complaints about Cookiebot by Usercentrics. If I had to mention one point, it would be that fine-tuning the setup and customization may take some time at the beginning. Beyond that, it is a solid platform that delivers well on its purpose. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless GDPR Compliance with Auto-Blocking"
5/5
What do you like best about Cookiebot by Usercentrics?

I really appreciate the auto-blocking of cookies before user consent, which simplifies GDPR compliance for us. The automatic scanning feature is super helpful because it saves time by finding all cookies on a site without manual effort. I also appreciate having the option to manually categorize cookies if needed, giving us more control. Additionally, the ability to easily brand the cookie consent banner is a nice touch. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cookiebot by Usercentrics?

I think more controls on the banner and make it a bit easier for beginners as well. Most users end up having the same design except for the brand color. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Intuitive, Fast Global Cookie Compliance with Great Value and Responsive Support"
5/5
What do you like best about Cookiebot by Usercentrics?

The platform is very esy to use, and very intuitive to both technical and non technical users. It is very easy to get up and running really quickly. The integration into a website is really straightforward using the google tag. The system operates globally for us, and the performance (even in China is really faster. The system is very cost effective for us, and provides us with good value for money for a cookie management compliance system. Any time I've required support, I have got answer straight away either through the support system, of from a support team member. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cookiebot by Usercentrics?

The interface could do with updating, I'm still using the original interface when I signed up 9 year ago. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Straightforward, Dependable Consent Management Across Multiple Client Sites"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Cookiebot by Usercentrics?

Cookiebot has been an excellent fit for our agency because it makes consent management straightforward, dependable, and easy to deploy across multiple client websites. The platform is easy to set up, helps keep us aligned with privacy compliance requirements, and gives clients confidence that their cookie consent is being handled professionally. We particularly appreciate the clean interface, automatic scanning, and the flexibility to adapt to different site needs without adding unnecessary complexity. Overall, Cookiebot helps us deliver a smoother user experience while saving our team time and reducing compliance headaches. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cookiebot by Usercentrics?

Cookiebot identifies issues, and then it’s up to us to fix them. It’s a bit of extra work, but I suppose that’s a good thing overall. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Pascale Comaty of Cookiebot by Usercentrics

Hello David,

Running compliance across multiple client sites is no small task, so it's great to know Cookiebot has become a dependable part of your agency's workflow. On the point about fixing identified issues yourself: you've framed it well. Scanning surfaces what needs attention, but remediation will always involve some human judgment, especially across varied site setups.

If there are recurring issue types where clearer guidance would save your team time, our support team is happy to help you build a more efficient process around that.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience.

Kind regards,

"Cookiebot Makes GDPR Cookie Management Easy—even for Complex Scenarios"
5/5
What do you like best about Cookiebot by Usercentrics?

We always turn to Cookiebot for management of cookies, ensuring that our clients are GDPR compliant. We really like the fact that we can manage complex cookie scenarios such as third party cookies generated by inline YouTube videos and Analytics software. Their UI is really easy to use and define how it looks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cookiebot by Usercentrics?

Logging in is a pain, it's complex - but still think its great and always recommend it as a great solution for GDPR. Also, you seem to be forced into a premium account, even though free is promoted on their pricing page. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Hanna Sternkopf of Cookiebot by Usercentrics

Hello Tim,

Thank you for your review! It's great to hear Cookiebot is your go-to tool for managing complex cookie scenarios like third-party cookies from YouTube and Analytics, and that the API helps you maintain strong PageSpeed scores alongside GTM.

We appreciate your feedback on the login experience and pricing transparency - this is valuable input and we'll make sure it's heard.

"Powerful, but Demanding Consent Management"
4/5
What do you like best about Cookiebot by Usercentrics?

I like that Cookiebot by Usercentrics allows me to continue operating a data-driven marketing model in an increasingly restrictive environment. I value that it transforms a restriction like consent into a structured data system, which helps optimize marketing and prevents us from making decisions with broken or incomplete data. Additionally, the initial setup was moderately easy, being quick on the basics and more demanding on the advanced aspects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cookiebot by Usercentrics?

Implementation dependency. Limited modeling (consent mode). UX vs compliance. Little visibility for business. It works well as infrastructure, but its value depends more on how you implement and exploit it than on the tool itself. If it is not well configured (GTM, Consent Mode, tags), it loses a large part of its value. It is not truly plug & play. The modeled data helps, but it does not replace the observed data. Relevant margin of error in attribution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Hanna Sternkopf of Cookiebot by Usercentrics

Hello Alberto,

Thank you for your review! We appreciate the thoughtful perspective - it's great to hear that Cookiebot helps you maintain a data-driven marketing model while staying compliant, and that it transforms consent into a structured data system rather than just a restriction.

Your feedback on the implementation complexity and the gap between modeled and observed data is well noted. You make a fair point that the value of a CMP depends heavily on how well it's configured within the broader stack. This is the kind of nuanced input that helps us think about how we can better support advanced users in getting the most out of their setup.

"Cookiebot: Customization & Effective Support"
5/5
What do you like best about Cookiebot by Usercentrics?

I like the customization offered by Cookiebot by Usercentrics and the possibility of using it for free for websites with few interactions and few articles. I consider it synonymous with a guarantee of transparency, clarity, and effectiveness. The dashboard is important, allowing me to download the logs of website visitors. Furthermore, the customer service is effective; at the beginning, when I implemented the codes on my site, I was assisted via email with effective operational instructions. I found Cookiebot more intuitive and effective compared to other products after trying it along with the free plan, which offers the opportunity to test the features without the obligation of an immediate payment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cookiebot by Usercentrics?

I preferred the previous version of the platform more, I'm referring to the one I used until a couple of years ago. Although it was more basic, it was much more intuitive and some functions were more accessible: I'm referring to the script, the ID to use to anchor the domain to the plugin, for example. Just this Saturday, I used the new version of the platform because I helped a colleague set up the cookie policy and I didn't find it very intuitive for the reasons I mentioned before. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Hanna Sternkopf of Cookiebot by Usercentrics

Hello Carmen,

Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review.

We’re very glad to hear that you value the customization options, transparency, and effectiveness of Cookiebot, and that the free plan gave you a useful opportunity to explore the platform before committing further. It’s also great to know that our support team could assist you effectively during your initial setup and implementation.

We truly appreciate your honest feedback regarding the newer platform experience as well. Hearing from long-time users who have worked with different versions of the platform is extremely valuable, especially when it comes to usability and accessibility of important configuration details.

Thank you again for sharing your experience and insights with us.
