## Concrete CMS Reviews
  ### 1. Flexible, User Friendly, and Developer Friendly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dan K. | Web Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2021

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

User-friendly for user
Modern PHP Development
Very flexible in what can be developed using the framework - from blocks for an editor to quickly add content to full-fledged custom online applications
Excellent community members and core team

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

Smaller community - could use more items in the marketplace for those who are not able to custom develop some functionality

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Everything from simple brochure websites to logistics management systems. With the recent API integration it is now easier to get data / content out of a Concrete CMS site and use it as a headless platform if desired.

  ### 2. all in one package which has been in development for over a decade

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kurt K. | ICT-Coördinator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

Ease of use for content creators. It is an excellent framework for creating almost any website/application for developers. You can tell that the developers have a clear vision for their CMS, and while they did adapt to a changing internet, they stuck to their original vision when creating their CMS.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

Documentation is sometimes vague, and when you run into an issue, you feel at a loss; the dev team is very active on their forum and Github, which makes it possible to ask questions almost directly. Not perfect, but it does seem like they are actively trying to fix this

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing large organization websites and versioning pages so quality is guaranteed. give access to the users and give them the chance to edit their own partition of the website.

  ### 3. Great for site editors. Great for developers.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John L. | Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

Concrete CMS is easy for users/editors to learn. They catch on to the concept editing and arranging blocks and are soon racing ahead with very little need for support. Concrete is also a great basis for extension. The curated marketplace of free and paid addons and themes provides a reliable source for extending the core. As a developer, learning the basic principles of custom templates and blocks is simple and your skills can grow incrementally.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

Like many open source projects, documentation lags behind the code.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A site can begin as an online brochure then grow to incorporate business data and applications. I have not met anything else that covers such flexibility of scope.

  ### 4. The only CMS you need. It also happens to be the best.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alexander S. | production manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 26, 2022

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

Working with concrete-cms for the last 12 years made me appreciate this CMS the most of all of the popular ones out there. In page editing and easy management of files.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

There is nothing I dislike about it. It is a perfect solution for small and large businesses!

**Recommendations to others considering Concrete CMS:**

It is hands down the best choice for any kind of website.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I built hundreds of sites with Concrete CMS, some of them have large amounts of pages and need to be easily searchable. Concrete delivers all that out of the box. It also has amazing user management and permission system that enables you to build pretty much anything!

  ### 5. Very flexible CMS, was limited by the agency managing it for us

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marah S. | Marketing Automation Strategist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 26, 2020

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

Concrete5 being open source is a great asset for finding integrations that others already created for your website. Everything we wanted to do with our website we were able to, either by custom programming or integrations from the marketplace.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

We had an agency managing our overall Concrete5 account and this limited us in what we were able to do.

**Recommendations to others considering Concrete CMS:**

Choosing a CMS is very important. Concrete5 is a great option for small businesses as long as someone on your team has some web development experience for setting it up, otherwise it can be updated by your marketing team. It’s been a few years since I used it, but it had a lot of nice features and was easy for me, as a graphic designer, to use.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Very easy to update the website and collect form submissions. You don’t need to have full web development skills, but they can definitely broaden the horizon.

  ### 6. The CMS you should be using.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Craig M. | Interactive Development, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2022

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

Concrete has a terrific back-end interface and is incredibly flexible. With much of what you need built-in, it is strong right out of the box. Also, my clients love how intuitive it is to use.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

The community, while extremely helpful, is smaller than it should be. Let's fix that!

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing data is a breeze, making even the most complex sites easier to build and manage. The Concrete workflow has me spending less time scratching my head, and more time coding.

  ### 7. In short, the best CMS out there!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Duncan M. | Managing Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2021

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

The only CMS that I am confident to hand over to my clients to maintain.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

I suppose my only niggle would be the limited number of add ons available in the marketplace. This will surely improve as Concrete's profile increases.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a web design agency, one of the first questions we are asked is 'can I update the site myself?' Using Concrete, we can confidently say yes, even with limited knowledge. Even is the client doesn't want to manage the content themselves, Concrete allows us to make super-fast changes on their behalf, keeping their costs down and allowing us to manage our time more effectively.

Concrete is quick to deploy and we can have a basic site built in hours instead of days. Fine-tuning the design to the clients' requirements is much easier when they can see something on the screen, Concrete allows us to do this quickly!

  ### 8. Concrete CMS is what you really need for your website, it's simply the best

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex B. | Concrete CMS PHP programmer web developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

As user: ease of use for designing frontend and backend, graphical editing interface, powerful functionality and lots of features already built in incl. mobile, it's free, it's open source, based on modern technology, attention to security and permissions, excellent SEO features and tools built in, excellent file manager, multi-language support
As developer: MVC architecture and it's the best among other CMS, Doctrine implementation, ease of developing for frontend and backend, ease of theme development with PHP and without extra engines, excellent separation for pages/blocks/packages/API and between frontend pages, admin Dashboard and user Account, the best and simplest functionality for package/addon/plugin development and overriding the core functionality of pages, blocks, well nearly everything

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

Development documentation needs attention and cover all functionality and API, development support is lacking, really hard to get help for some uncommon or undocumented issues

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Website development of any functionality and complexity, development of plugins, blocks, packages, new functionality, whole web applications
The MVC architecture and Doctrine implementation, the best ability of overriding core functionality, excellent security and permissions system, seamless Bootstrap integration and theme editing

  ### 9. Great CMS for 80% of websites on the web.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Wayne S. S. | CEO of Stewart Design Agency (443-429-0494), Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 16, 2019

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

Concrete5 easy of use for the end user is it clam to fame. Very easy on page editing and can build out more complex pages using custom attributes.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

From a development stand point, concrete5 can be hard to use for 3 or more developers on a project. S There is no syncing process between local development environments and remote environments this can cause issues on large projects. Also scaling the CMS for very large project (250+ plus pages) might be an issue however, that is more of dev-op issue then a CMS problem.

**Recommendations to others considering Concrete CMS:**

Give concete5 a chance for your next CMS for a agency project. Wordpress, Joomla and Drupal are other alternatives however your end users will be so much happier with their ability to edit content. There is a great slack community of core concrete5 developers that can answer pretty much any question.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We want our clients to have a very easy to use CMS for editing content. However still have a system that is powerful enough for high end features such as user permissions, advanced theme development, custom blogs and forms.

  ### 10. I've tried them all. concrete CMS is by far the best.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John S. | Systems Analyst / Programmer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

Content editors love the interface. Modern PHP7+ OOP codebase, with the best from Symphony, Laravel, Zend, etc.

All add-ons and themes are peer code reviewed (no wild-west take-your-chances like WP).

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

Need more add-ons and themes in the marketplace.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

You can build just about anything with it. Intranets, Document Libraries, and of course, websites.

End users require very little training.

  ### 11. Great CMS, I will never use another!!!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tim M. | Creative Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

Having used WordPress, Joomla, Squared space, Wix and moany other CMS's this is the best i have ever used.

It has everything you need out of the box, it is feature rich and you rarely need loads of plugins. It was built for the user, its simple to use but also has a complex core that you can build off should you want to use it as a development platform.

The code is well commented, well structured and easy to expand. There is a good community of developers and designers with a good forum and slack group.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

There isn't much to dislike, the lack of ecommerce is an issue but there is a very good plugin for this that is well supported. some of the documentation can be lacking but there are enough people in the C5 community should you need the answers. Also it is very easy to contact the creators of this CMS should you want exact information.

**Recommendations to others considering Concrete CMS:**

Get it, install it and you will never look at or need another CMS.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This is now my go to CMS, I don't need to keep going and installing updates to keep it secure like WordPress, none of my site have ever been hacked. The feature set out of the box is perfect and you don't need to get loads of extra plugins.

  ### 12. The perfect CMS we were looking for

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michele L. | Web & network manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

Concrete is a very powerful yet easy-to-use CMS. We use it both for our intranets and public websites.
Its multilanguage features help us connecting to our worldwide customers.
Thanks to its great permission model, we grant our resellers access to specific parts of our websites, and since it's so easy, they don't even need any training!
Last but not least, it's very extensible, and its codebase is very clean and robust: coding for it is a joy.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

The documentation is a bit lacking, but since Concrete is very easy, you won't miss it.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Connect to our customers, promote our products, connect to our resellers.

  ### 13. Love C5

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Henrik S. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

Love C5. Been using it since 2013. Easy and runs smoothly.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

Too few updates, features and developers.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Intuative system my collegues easily can manage.

  ### 14. Amazing tool for web developers

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nainish A. | Assistant Systems Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2021

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

Concrete5 is a very good and reliable cms tool. It is very useful for developers as well as end-users. It provides a drag and drop feature with responsive layouts which makes this tool very efficient to use. The developers can edit the layout by coding also. It provides more than 1000 add on functionalities which makes it more attractive to use. Concrete5 community support and forums are very helpful and useful. Also according to our organizational requirements, we can easily manage access control which ensures the privacy of the project. It provides multi-language support with integration with other software.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

Concrete5 provides fewer built-in forms which basically restricts some of the client requirements. There is less documentation provided for concrete5 which is a big negative point. The user interface can also be improved and can be made more friendly.

**Recommendations to others considering Concrete CMS:**

Concrete5 is a very good alternative to WordPress and it has more amazing layouts than other cms tools.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With concrete5 we have solved many problems such as we can now give more time to back-end functionality compared to frontend as many amazing layouts and templates are provided by concrete5. No major maintenance is required as everything is prebuilt which saves a lot of time and effort.

  ### 15. Perfect fit both for small and large applications

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Peter J. | Backend developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

I've been using Concrete CMS in the last 5 years actively. It's a perfect fit for fast prototyping, headless projects, API-s, small projects (website in a weekend) and also for large-scale project (I have a project with huge traffic and constantly ongoing activity) and this CMS fits like a glove.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

No such thing. It's the combination of all the things I like to use.

**Recommendations to others considering Concrete CMS:**

Try it, feel it, dig into it, play around with it. Maybe it will catch your attention as well.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm using it for all types of projects, fast prototyping, small (one weekend) and large (2 years ongoing) projects.

  ### 16. ASN

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Practice | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2022

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

Safety of the CMS, ease of use, rapidity of the site.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

Things I cannot do, like getting rid of the concrete5 message at the bottom of the pages

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Safety and problems

  ### 17. A flexible breath of fresh air

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David K. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 24, 2021

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

- Ease of use for clients, most of the editing can be done on the front end, a couple of clicks and you are editing your website.
- Modern codebase for developers
- Easy to extend and modify if needed, very flexible
- Secure
- Override architecture is well thought out and implemented flawlessly
- Block architecture is easy to understand and very powerful
- Responsive community and approachable development team

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

- Marketplace is a touch small, not as many add-ons and themes as some of its competitors

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Selling sites that a client can be left to edit themselves can be a perilous task, if you use a poor CMS you can guarantee you will be on the phone all day explaining how to use it. With Concrete5 I found that issue is gone, if your client can write an email they basically have the skill set to use Concrete5, fewer support calls means a happy developer and a happy client, couple this to a very robust permissions model and you have a great CMS.

  ### 18. Very good and versatile CMS with unique features and easy to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fred F. | Webmaster, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2021

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

Concrete5 includes "workflow" to manage editing permissions on website for different users (you can choose who can see or edit what for each page of the website), an inline WYSIWYG editing features, easy forms creation and management.
Concrete is very easy to use, very easy to set up, also it is pretty comfortable, friendly and powerful.
You can choose any HTML template on the web and use it easily with Contrete5.
The experience of deploying a website from Concrete 5 was overall amazing and tireless effort.
The development team loves it because it's completely customizable and our users love it because of it's an immediate way to edit, maintain and grow the websites.
Concrete5 has a great set of tools for managing SEO too.
Concrete5 offers a good doc and videos to learn using it for free.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

Everything is good to me, I could say that Concrete5 has limited plugins and themes but you can adapt it to your needs and you can develop addons easily.
The marketplace is smaller than other CMS like Wordpress but you can find the essential you need and more.
It would be great if more people know and use it.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I needed a good and fast to learn CMS to make a website quickly, I have done this thanks to Concrete5. I can edit the website fast and easily every day to keep the website up to date.
Thanks to Concrete5 i managed to replace an old website in less than 10 weeks working on it only few hours a day.

  ### 19. Powerful for developers, easy for site editors

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josh B. | Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2021

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

Comprehensive editing tools for site owners.
User-friendly and intuitive interface.
Extendable architecture for developers.
Solid community forum for asking questions and getting free & paid help.
Good number of 3rd party add-ons and themes to extend the core features.
Regular news updates from core team about platform improvements and strategic direction.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

Average quality and depth of developer documentation.

**Recommendations to others considering Concrete CMS:**

I've been using this CMS since 2009 and over a decade later, I'd still choose it again in a heartbeat. The team behind ConcreteCMS is always pushing the platform further, and taking bold, brave steps to make it a world-class system. As a developer, it's a breeze working with ConcreteCMS. The elegant architecture makes it easy to create complex add-ons and functionality that is clean, fast, and future-proof. Take the time to give it a try and see how it performs for you, and after a few weeks you'll be like me and it will never be able to look back.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

An easy way to publish beautifully formatted and structured content easily.
In addition to the security and performance benefits, ConcreteCMS makes managing large websites painless and efficient.

  ### 20. Dependable, Flexible Web Development Platform + CMS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marc S. | Principal, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

Concrete5 is simply best of-class content management and website development platform. It's ready to use right out of the box, and it completely extensible and customizable as much as needed. More over, our clients love working on their sites for day-to-day updates and site management. Concrete5 runs on any Linux (LAMP stack) server that would support Drupal, Joomla, WordPress or any of the other platforms.

Our clients love working on their Concrete5 powered websites. Whether it's adding articles to the news room, sharing brand assets, updating employee profiles, or posting job openings to for their HR departments. It's not uncommon for our clients to grow their sites >50% in size during the first year after launch.

If your web team is tired of dealing with CMS training issues, you need to consider Concrete5. If your technical team and host are tired of dealing with website security issues, you need to consider Concrete5. If you're pulling your hair out over frequent update patches required to keep your CMS platforms secure, you need to consider Concrete5 as the primary platform to grow your business, build great sites and make clients happy.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

It's really hard to find something to dislike about Concrete5. Concrete5 is a strong, flexible, secure platform that works on small websites or giant data driven web applications. The biggest thing that I dislike about Concrete5 is that it does not have the name recognition of other website platforms. I hope this review helps other people learn about Concrete5 and give it a try on their next project.

**Recommendations to others considering Concrete CMS:**

Setup a Dev site and give Concrete5 a try.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My firm builds designs, develops and builds brands, Concrete5 is our go-to web solution. There are a number of benefits including how much our clients web-team like managing through the Concrete5 in-context editing. Other benefits include superior security when compared to other CMS platforms, and limited need for software updates and patches for security reasons.

  ### 21. Powerful, Extendable, and User-Friendly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian M. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

Concrete5 is great for everything from simple websites to custom, complex, applications. The peer-reviewed marketplace offers out-of-the-box solutions that save plenty of time and cost less than developing on your own with many add-ons available for free. Community support is fantastic with user forums and projects, including an e-Commerce solution that is robust and inexpensive to run with no monthly fees (seriously, the best e-Commerce package you're going to find). Sites can be deployed quickly with minimal costs and end-users can be trained often in minutes instead of hours or days. The platform is secure and allows fine-tooth permissions control. Internationalization is handled too for those that need to display their sites in multiple languages. Self-hosted and Concrete5 hosted options are available and maintenance is usually easily managed at the user-level.

Without question, Concrete5 is the perfect mix of power and usability to allow sites to be deployed quickly at a reasonable cost.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

There can be a learning curve and the technology used in the background has grown more complex over the last few years. This is not to say that it can't be used by those with less technical knowledge, just that like with any CMS there is a learning curve and some occasional pitfalls.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used Concrete5 for "business-card" type websites and complex applications including product lifecycle management, project management software, and health claims. Costs are very low to implement and the structure is robust and well thought out. Concrete5 allows me to build secure sites quickly that my clients love to use.

  ### 22. My CMS of choice for years

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Garrett E. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 08, 2021

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

More intuitive approach to creating content (on the actual page). Has the plugins and templates I need without having to navigate through a jungle of choices of questionable quality. Periodic deals on add-ons, and an ease of experimenting with add-ons makes it easy to grow familiarity and skills.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

User forum could use a shakeup. After existing for so many years it can feel cluttered and not well organized. The transition of sites from the original architecture wasn't seemless, but the newer platform structure was a major improvement.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Building websites focused on content that look good in an intuitive way. Edit on the pages, not in a dashbooard interface to the page content. Open source makes it easy to build and experiment affordably on a hosting package.

  ### 23. Great CMS for content lead websites. Easy to build in, easy to manage.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew P. | Managing Director

**Reviewed Date:** September 14, 2021

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

So easy to use from an end-user standpoint, all of our clients have always been blown away with how easy it is. And easy to build and customise from a dev point of view.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

The only issue is that it's not as well supported with add-ons/plugins as other CMS competitors.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pushing out new content and optimising it is extremely efficient. This saves us and our clients time.

  ### 24. Very Professional Open Source CMS that hits all the right areas

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris K. | Application Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

The community that comes with Concrete5 is truly amazing and all of it has come a long way in only a few years. It has a great community and just enough expansion capabilities to make it work for most application scenarios. We use it internally for process management and ticket management. We also like how easy it is to use and change to suit our needs.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

Sure, it doesn't have the reach of say a WordPress in terms of expandability, but it has just enough to get the job done. The documentation could be a little better and it isn't currently as well know. But, it is still a great platform.

**Recommendations to others considering Concrete CMS:**

I have used Drupal and WordPress in the pass and this is better. It is simpler to roll out and is very easy to use.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides the basics to get a very professional website up and running quickly with very little if any custom code. And it is open source so, if you want to modify the source code you can. We use it to track tickets and processes internally for our use.

  ### 25. Powerful, easy-to-use website content management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Glyn J. | Managing Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

concrete5 delivers a complete content management system including WYSIWYG editing, forms etc. without the need for extensions to accomplish basic tasks. That said, concrete5 also provides an excellent modern php framework for further development and the marketplace provides a range of useful AddOn components.

The concrete5 community is knowledgeable, supportive and friendly.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

Documentation has previously been criticised but this is improving steadily and Portland Labs recognise the need to continue this.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We deliver content managed websites to our clients who find concrete5 easy to use. concrete5 has increased our client's enjoyment of the editing process and has enabled us to efficiently deliver sites that meet a very wide range of requirements.

  ### 26. Concrete is only as strong as the mix.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David Z. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2021

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

What's not to like about Concrete5? It's intuitive, comprehensive in feature set, easy to set up, easy for clients to use, responsive, adaptable, and secure. The user community is supportive, helpful, and really, really smart. It has a lot of functionality built-in that you would need to add in apps like WordPress and Drupal. Licensing addons is unique because it is developer, not client, centered, so you could re-assign licenses and reuse addons and themes. So far, great!

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

Unfortunately there is no substantial developer ecosystem, which makes a great product even better. Not enough themes and addons for working with multiple clients, no way to test addons prior to purchase, unless you purchase and then return the product (which would really annoy me if I was a developer). As a site designer, it would be to your advantage to be comfortable working with code. File Manager could use some streamlining and speed. Many templates and addons have been around for a long time, and may be in need of updating to meet current web standards.

**Recommendations to others considering Concrete CMS:**

I used to build *all* my sites in Concrete5 version 5.6. That was when third party support was the most active. With the release of version 7 and continued in 8, that was severely reduced due to new addon requirements and some developers not wanting to re-write their products. In addition, Portland Labs had abandoned their eCommerce and discussion board addons, leaving some site designers high and dry, until the e-commerce function was added by the open source Community Store.

I am hoping with the soon-to-be-released Concrete CMS (version 9), the third party situation will begin to improve again, I would be happy to return to the fold.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Promoting the facility, the many rehab disciplines available, the programs, and the staff, as well as registering first-time patients. We are able to process first time clients much faster now that they can fill out the required paperwork ahead of time and have it delivered to us prior to their initial visit.

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

Concrete5 CMS is written by those who love clean, secure code. Especially if you are wishing to write your own PHP code for special requirements, C5 is really the most solid and affordable solution out there! Also there is good support outside of the community as well, eg. Stackoverflow.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

The marketplace is smaller than other CMS like Wordpress.

**Recommendations to others considering Concrete CMS:**

Concrete5 CMS is written by those who love clean, secure code. Especially if you are wishing to write your own PHP code for special requirements, C5 is really the most solid and affordable solution out there!

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When I need a CMS that is small (not bloated) and tactfully modular, C5 is my go-to solution!

  ### 28. A awesome tool for a better and inclusive web

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Raphael P. | Project Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2021

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

Easy: installation, configuration, customization and to do improvements. A great community that help everyone in trouble (if hapens). Tons of add-ons and great numbers of theme options (could be more, but is ok).

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

A few options to customize a theme on core system and few themes selling on market place.

**Recommendations to others considering Concrete CMS:**

Give a chance and you will never look back. Only will see the bright future.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I build a lot of websites for different industries like medicine, construction, food, automation, real state etc. The principal benefit is the time I save building with concrete5.

  ### 29. My favorite CMS!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josh S. | Online Pastor and Digital Technologies

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

ConcreteCMS is very customizable, and its inline editing is the best I've seen.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

Sometimes the Marketplace is lacking some add-ons that can be found in other CMSs.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ConcreteCMS provides easy and granular workflows for multi-staff editing scenarios.

  ### 30. A CMS that delivers all that is needed

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carsten J. | Web-Developer / General Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2021

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

Concrete5 is constantly growing and developing CMS that delivers all you need for any CMS-project. It also can be used as a framework and can be easily extended.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

It deserves be known more ;-). Also I am looking forward for a new certification and training program plus a parter section.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

From standard websites that need a CMS up to portals with a lot of custom implementation. In the last case I use Concrete5 as a framework.

  ### 31. Works as expected, a bit resource intensive

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael J. | Managing Member, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2021

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

I generally found Concrete5 to be easy to install and quite extensible. There are a variety of themes available to customize the look of the site.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

It is quite resource intensive. Errors in configuration may require a rollback to a prior backup. Some old extensions are still on the marketplace that are not compatible with the current version and aren't well marked what version they apply to.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it to manage my website for my small publishing company.

  ### 32. Great for end users. Good for developers.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Online Media | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

A well engineered CMS. Managed marketplace for extensions. Everything you need from one location. Convenient for off-the-shelf solutions and for developing custom solutions.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

Whilst concrete5 has its own forums, the primary means of quick support is Slack. Posts on Slack get lost in time, hence support information that others could benefit from is lost. With each new release, the infrastructure increases in complexity and leaves the documentation further behind.

**Recommendations to others considering Concrete CMS:**

Well worth a try. You may be pleasantly surprised how much easier concrete5 is to use and develop for over some of the leading CMS.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

concrete5 enables me to create well structured and mainable web sites.

  ### 33. Simple, Intuitive & Easy to Update

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pamela B. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 20, 2021

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

Ease of creating your own unique site. Simple to take an old relic site and bring it into the modern IT world.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

While it was mostly intuitive to use, more complete documentation would be grand.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having a site look and use with the tip of a finger and the 'not so computer techy' everyday gal (or guy) to look at and use with ease.

  ### 34. I really love the CMS. It offers your almost every possability and still is nice and clean.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

documentation, the documentation could be better

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

i did everything from a simple businesscard to a whole application

  ### 35. Wordpress Beater

  ### 37. Flexible easy to build CMS for developers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dale C. | Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2020

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

The CMS is very easy to extend. You can build whatever type of application you want inside of this CMS. It's designed to give you so much more than simple brochure websites. The code is easy to read when you start delving into the core and you won't get lost in a puddle of mud like some other well known CMS platforms. There are a variety of after market plugins available however you will need to be tech-savvy enough to integrate them into your website 90% of the time. There is fine grain controls on permissions, users, roles and a lot of the built in CMS features such as the calendar are great.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

The platform is not suitable for small projects. The learning curve can be quite steep and there is a lot of boiler plate to set up when creating a new project. There is not much availability for themes if you were to compare this to something like wordpress. This is a CMS for DEVELOPERS who want to build custom websites and apps, it does not work well for quick/small projects that require a small custom website.

**Recommendations to others considering Concrete CMS:**

If you're looking for a platform that can build a rich admin interface for complicated applications then this is what you need. If you're looking for a quick and easy CMS to get a brochure website up and running go use wordpress.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to provide a rich interactive WYSIWYG interface for our clients when editing their content is fantastic.

  ### 38. Love Concrete5!!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jill K. | Graphic Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 16, 2020

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

It is so easy from a developer standpoint to create websites that are easy for clients, with no web background, to maintain once I am done building it. It is super simply to train people on and easy for them to really take over without much help after we hand it over!! I do like that there are themes you can choose from too. It makes it easy to start instead of starting from scratch.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

I wish there was more of a variety of pre made blocks. I build a lot of my own blocks, which is actually really really easy, but I wish there was a huge library, much like Wordpress has. Because you can seriously search for anything and everything on word press and you can find it. No matter what you are looking for. I wish there were more, so I did not have to make my own all of the time.

**Recommendations to others considering Concrete CMS:**

Give it a try at least! There are so many benefits!

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Like I said before, it creates a really simple atmosphere that everyone can benefit from, no matter what your level of experience is in web design! It is so easy from a developer standpoint to create websites that are easy for clients, with no web background, to maintain once I am done building it. It is super simply to train people on and easy for them to really take over without much help after we hand it over!!

  ### 39. User friendly, very customisable, quick to implement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2021

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

It is highly customisable and easy to implement. Building websites with this platform is much faster than coding them with HTML and CSS.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

CMSs require more storage space than hard coded websites.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest benefit that I found is that it is super easy and fast to get a website going.

  ### 40. Excellent product on so many levels!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Allison F. | Front End Developer/Creative Artworker, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2020

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

Really easy to set up and use, whether you're a site editor, front end dev or a hardcore PHP ninja. The interface is lovely too.
I'm front end, and don't have a lot of PHP knowledge, but I've built a number of sites using C5. The plugins are all approved by the guys who developed C5 so there's less risk of code clashes.
It's built on Bootstrap too, which is my favourite framework, so it's easy to convert a Bootstrap site to C5.
There's also a great community of really friendly, helpful developers who've helped me with any tricky PHP I've had to deal with.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

I really wish more people had heard of it! I always end up doing a speech to clients and other devs because Wordpress is the one everyone knows about, but having used both, Concrete5 is by far the better option.
I wish there were more recent training videos. C5 has changed a bit over the years, and while there are plenty of videos for site editors, but I'd love to see some more front end focussed, or PHP newbie videos.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Most recently I have created an online training site for a not-for-profit organisation. I've got jQuery multiple choice questions, drag and drop exercises and video/audio clips incorporated without too much trouble.
So many other features are baked into C5 and ready to deploy. A bit of CSS and you can really customise it to make your sites look great.
It's also open source and the plugins range from free to around £20 so I was able to keep costs down.

  ### 41. Most agile Content Management System

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2021

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

Concrete 5 CMS' ease of setup and rapid deployment alongside fewer web resource demand

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

Concrete 5 store has fewer plugins compared to WordPress

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Web resource allocation problems. Concrete 5 requires less web space to deploy

  ### 42. Great idea, a little hard to find support

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** alyse c. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2020

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

My favorite part is the edit-in-place feature. This makes it really easy for me to build websites for clients and then hand it over to them to maintain.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

My least favorite thing is that Concrete 5 isn't as widespread as some other web platforms. So there's fewer widget options and support. I liked how simple it was to implement, as I don't have a ton of web development experience, but when I got stuck, I found it pretty frustrating to try to find the answers I need. Like other CMSs, I am always nervous to install updates, because I'm afraid it will break the website.

**Recommendations to others considering Concrete CMS:**

It's great, but not very supported. When I had questions, I sometimes had trouble finding answers.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Concrete 5 allows me to hand over web maintinance to clients. My clients can keep their own websites updated with no knowledge of code.

  ### 43. Simple Straightforward CMS

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Naibuka Q. | Founder & UX Design Lead, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 29, 2020

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

I first used C5 years ago while it was fairly new in the market. What caught my attention then was the on page editing experience that was very new at that time as none of the other CMSs had implemented it.

The development experience as well was brilliant. Creating a theme from your HTML built site was straightforward and required a few lines of code to make editable fields.

The learning curve was a no brainer.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

One of the issues back then was load times and seamless updates had not been implemented.
I haven't built a site into it in a while so I'm not sure what the update experience is like now.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I chose concrete5 as it allowed multiple admins on an easy to use platform. I wanted site administrators to have a delightful experience when editing their site and that's exactly what C5 provided.

  ### 44. I have had positive a experience with Concrete5. I have built a couple of sites on it.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 19, 2020

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

Easy edits, lots of resources, pretty good customer service forums. I really like the themes and how you can take a theme design and make it your own. Most CMS have limitations.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

The updates. Seems like every three months there is an update. I actually did an update and it disrupted the entire site. I had to do a complete rebuild. The contact page, despite the fact there is a recaptcha, doesn't seem to have a spam filter. I get inundated with spam daily.

**Recommendations to others considering Concrete CMS:**

Be patient and follow the set up steps word for word. I did the set up through my host and once I uploaded Concrete5, I had to set up the theme. The process can be a little bit tricky because you have to override the current theme in place and build pages or override the current template.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest problems is having pages hidden to the public and accessed by subscribers, that is really nice. I also like how easy it is to make changes to the web site. It's a very simple process that doesn't require diving into code. This makes it easy for the laymen to go in and make easy edits.

  ### 45. Not what I expected

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Antonio N. | Senior Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 31, 2020

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

Blocks are easy for non programmers to work with, and edit the page.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

Some developer documentation is a bit obscure and out of the date. Also, there are not as many tutorials available as for some other platforms, which makes a job bit more difficult for certain things.

**Recommendations to others considering Concrete CMS:**

I recommend it, but as I mentioned before, it might be a bit difficult to find the right developers to implement certain features.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was mostly using Concrete5 to build a custom website with small traffic that didn't require a lot of changes.

  ### 46. A CMS built with end users in mind.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2020

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

The front end editing and block additions are simple for our customers to manage regardless of their technical abilities.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

There are few quality themes and most are too bloated for ease. The add ons seem less reliable than in the past.

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a number of clients that come to us with limited capabilities because of skill or tools. Once we move them off their previous platform, they can easily update their sites and are always grateful for the independence Concrete5 allows them.

  ### 47. Concrete 5 is easy to use

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2020

It has a very active community
Easy to create workflows

More plugins could be added that are free

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Its a CMS and it allows customer to modify easily

  ### 48. Flexible CMS ever

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Akhil K. | Associate Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 29, 2020

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

It's also similar to other's much flexible and good one. Also which is not a better option for the e-commerce work.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

most of the good packages are paid one only, need more active community

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Simple Web apps

  ### 49. Can be customised easily.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 18, 2020

**What do you like best about Concrete CMS?**

The ability and flexibility that it offers. You can basically customize concrete however you need. Also, the WYSIWYG editor is amazing. There are several plugins like the designer block that make the experience awesome.

**What do you dislike about Concrete CMS?**

The community support. There is sufficient support but not as much as I would like

**What problems is Concrete CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Concrete 5 allowed me to give access of the client to the client. Now I don't need to make small changes. The client can do it themselves.

  ### 50. Easy to use and setup a new website

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jakob A. | Web Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

Documentation need to be improved so need more examples
