  ### 8. JavaScript code editor in the browser

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Margareth S. | Computer Technical Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Codemirror?**

It is an incredible code editor the truth to be so little known to other than that is completely free that in my opinion it is something very good, it also has a fairly powerful and extensive API that allows us to work much better and more comfortable. This editor has many features that make it stand out as the fact that it highlights the syntax so that the reading and writing of the code becomes more enjoyable and simple, in addition to that it makes the spacing and places the indentation automatically, we can also manipulate , create or edit large documents, with thousands of lines of code without any problem and with great fluidity. Finally, I really like that it has an extensive range of languages that it supports and that in addition to that we have the option of autocomplete that when it comes to coding becomes a great friend.

**What do you dislike about Codemirror?**

I do not like that it is a basically new tool and that it does not have a large community that supports it but the truth is that I think that it is on the right track and to be a tool that does not charge for a commercial license it seems to me that it is quite complete.

**Recommendations to others considering Codemirror:**

I recommend it, the truth is that I think that being free we have the possibility to try it and to know if it is an editor that makes us comfortable or not, it seems to me that it is very powerful and I dare to say that it is better than others publishers that are paid and that in addition is an editor capable of processing many lines of code at the same time without getting stuck or anything.

**What problems is Codemirror solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has been useful to me in repeated occasions where projects have been developed mainly in JavaScript, although it is capable of supporting other languages, in the environment in which it performs best is in JavaScript, I feel that it allows me to work comfortably for the interface so intuitive that it has, and that allows us to know and locate quickly if we have any error in the syntax of the code that we are writing because the editor highlights all those parts of the code.
