## About Cisco TrustSec
Cisco TrustSec is a security architecture that enables software-defined segmentation within a network. Instead of relying on traditional IP-based access control lists, it uses Scalable Group Tags (SGTs) to classify users and devices based on their identity and role. This classification allows administrators to define and enforce security policies that follow the user or device as they move across the network, regardless of the underlying infrastructure or physical connection point. By decoupling security policy from IP addressing, TrustSec simplifies the management of access control, reduces the complexity of maintaining firewall rules in large-scale environments, and provides a consistent security posture across campus, data center, and branch network deployments.
