  ### 2. Robust Network Security with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Divyesh V. | SPOC Client cordination, Security and Investigations, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2026

**What do you like best about CheckPoint?**

I like CheckPoint's layered threat prevention architecture, which brings together firewall, IPS, Anti-Bot, Anti-Virus, and sandboxing into one unified security framework as blade systems. I also appreciate the detailed logging and smart event reporting capabilities that offer strong visibility into traffic patterns, threat activity, and compliance posture, making audits and incident investigations more structured and data-driven. The logging and event correlation capabilities significantly improve our incident response workflow, allowing us to trace suspicious IP activity, identify blocked versus allowed traffic patterns, and analyze IPS triggers and malware signatures.

**What do you dislike about CheckPoint?**

Most of the time, if the customer uploads password-protected bank statements over our portal, CheckPoint's sandboxing doesn't work and passes them. There are limitations with CheckPoint's VPN client, as it is not supported in Linux environments. We had to use TAC support because the CheckPoint knowledge base guidelines are not user-friendly for first-time users. When setting up with CloudFormation, if parameters are not checked properly, the deployment needs to be recreated.

**What problems is CheckPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CheckPoint centralizes firewall, IPS, VPN, and threat prevention, solving our network security challenges in a distributed environment. It offers detailed logging and smart event reporting, improving incident response and providing visibility into traffic patterns and threat activity.

**Reviewed by:** Imran I. | Technical Support Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 01, 2026

**What do you like best about CheckPoint?**

What I like best about Check Point is how reliable and easy it is to work with. The security features are strong, especially the firewall and threat prevention, and at the same time the management console is very user-friendly. It makes monitoring, troubleshooting, and applying policies much simpler, which really helps in day-to-day operations. Overall, it gives a good balance of strong security and ease of management, which I really appreciate.

**What do you dislike about CheckPoint?**

What I dislike about Check Point is that it can feel a bit complex and heavy at times, especially during the initial setup or for new users. The licensing model can also be confusing, and some features require more tuning to get the best performance. Additionally, hardware and support costs can be on the higher side compared to other vendors.

**What problems is CheckPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Check Point helps address the challenge of defending networks and systems against ever-changing cyber threats. With centralized security, powerful firewall protection, and advanced threat prevention, it helps block attacks before they can cause any real impact on the business.
From my perspective, this gives me much better visibility into network traffic, quicker identification of potential security issues, and greater confidence that our environment is well protected. Managing policies and security controls from a single console also cuts down on manual work, making day-to-day operations easier and more efficient.

  ### 9. CheckPoint Gaia from the perspective of 7 years

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Relations | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 08, 2025

**What do you like best about CheckPoint?**

Over the past seven years, I’ve come to rely on CheckPoint’s Gaia as the cornerstone of our network security infrastructure. The centralized management console (SmartConsole) makes rule administration and policy deployment across multiple sites remarkably straightforward. I appreciate the granular, stateful inspection capabilities and the breadth of security blades available—from firewall and IPS to advanced threat prevention—which together provide comprehensive protection against modern threats. Performance has been rock-solid, even under heavy throughput, and the high-availability clustering ensures near-zero downtime for our critical services. Finally, CheckPoint’s robust logging and reporting tools give our team the visibility we need to proactively hunt for anomalies and demonstrate compliance.

**What do you dislike about CheckPoint?**

While CheckPoint shines in security and stability, the initial learning curve can be steep for new administrators—particularly when it comes to mastering complex policy hierarchies and object relationships in the management database. Firmware upgrades sometimes introduce unexpected behavioral changes, requiring careful lab testing before rolling out to production. Additionally, licensing—especially when scaling blades and gateways—can get pricey, and the cost-per-feature model isn’t always the most predictable for budgeting.

**What problems is CheckPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CheckPoint solves our need for a single, unified security platform that scales across on-prem, cloud, and remote-user environments. By consolidating firewall, IPS, VPN, URL/Application Control, and advanced threat prevention blades under one management plane, we’ve greatly reduced administrative overhead and eliminated tool sprawl. Centralized logging and reporting ensure we meet PCI-DSS and ISO27001 requirements without stitching together disparate logs, and the high-availability clusters deliver near-100% uptime for our critical services. As a result, we’ve seen a measurable drop in security incidents, faster incident response, and predictable budgeting thanks to modular licensing.

  ### 10. Enterprise-Grade Security with Granular Control and Stability

**What do you dislike about CheckPoint?**

**What problems is CheckPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Check Point is helping us address critical cybersecurity challenges by providing advanced threat protection (IPS, Anti-Bot, Threat Emulation), centralized management through SmartConsole, and granular access control using an object-based policy model. It also ensures secure remote access via robust VPN capabilities. These features have led to improved threat visibility, faster incident response, enhanced compliance, and reduced administrative overhead, ultimately strengthening our overall network security posture.

**Reviewed by:** Félix L. | Manager IT, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2024
