**What do you dislike about Check Point Next Generation Firewalls (NGFWs)?**

What frustrates me most about Check Point NGFW is its email‑antispam handling. The built‑in anti‑spam engine is often overly aggressive, flagging legitimate newsletters and client communications as junk, which forces us to spend hours fine‑tuning whitelist rules. Conversely, some not-so-sophisticated phishing emails still slip through, indicating inconsistent detection. The lack of a spam quarantine increases the lack of features.

**What problems is Check Point Next Generation Firewalls (NGFWs) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 20, 2025

**What do you like best about Check Point Next Generation Firewalls (NGFWs)?**

Check Point NGFW is a security solution which implements security up to today's standards.
With the addition of the Blades and the threatcloud, the CP NGFW is able to provide a robust solution and share the new discovered threats between customers.
It's use for a simple administrator is simplified with the smartconsole and applying rules is very simple.
The gateway OS is GAIA OS and it's based on RedHat, this allows you to apply past knowledge of linux to the current OS and makes the troubleshooting situation a bit more difficult but very interesting.
RnD does a good job in providing custom fix to new issues.

**What do you dislike about Check Point Next Generation Firewalls (NGFWs)?**

The support is not great, it can be a hit or miss, especially during the different timezone.
The Ease of Use is simple for the most cases but it can be very complex when the solution can just be provided by an internal Check Point technician.
Often when upgrading the gateways you may encounter new bugs or old bus, it's said to be a low percentage, but if a customer has multiple gateways, it's likely to encounter this issues.
RnD time on some specific issues is too long, and it might require few weeks or several months to solve it.

**What problems is Check Point Next Generation Firewalls (NGFWs) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It creates a unified infrastructure, which allows you to have a complete view.

**What do you dislike about Check Point Next Generation Firewalls (NGFWs)?**

the learning curve is the trickiest part. Its kind of complex compared with other platforms I have used in the past (totally worth it though). The installation process also took ages, but that's a one time thing and again, worth it!

**What problems is Check Point Next Generation Firewalls (NGFWs) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

  ### 32. Elevating OT Security with Check Point NGFW: Visibility, Control, and Prevention

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Durgesh K. | Student Mentor / Coach, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2025

**What do you like best about Check Point Next Generation Firewalls (NGFWs)?**

Honestly, what I like most is how everything just works together, especially when you're managing both IT and OT environments. The SmartConsole is a lifesaver. Being able to push policies, track traffic, and investigate threats all from one place saves a ton of time and headaches.

I also really appreciate the modular approach, you can turn on features like IPS or Threat Emulation when you’re ready, without ripping things out or restarting from scratch. That flexibility is huge in environments where uptime and stability are non-negotiable.

**What do you dislike about Check Point Next Generation Firewalls (NGFWs)?**

If I had to pick one thing, it’s that the initial setup can be a bit overwhelming, especially if you’re new to Check Point or don’t have strong experience with network segmentation or their software blade model. There’s a learning curve, and it can take some time to fully understand how all the components fit together.

Also, the licensing structure isn’t the most intuitive. Between the blades, subscription tiers, and deployment models (physical, virtual, cloud), figuring out exactly what you need, and what it’ll cost, can be tricky without help from a partner or reseller.

That said, once everything’s in place and running, it’s rock solid.

**What problems is Check Point Next Generation Firewalls (NGFWs) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Check Point NGFW helps us solve one of the biggest challenges in mixed IT/OT environments: securing critical systems without disrupting them. Legacy OT networks weren’t built with cybersecurity in mind, and bridging them with IT introduces real risks. Check Point allows us to put strong, fine-tuned security controls in place—without breaking communication between sensitive systems.

It’s also solving the problem of limited visibility and threat detection in OT. With deep packet inspection, real-time logging, and integration with tools like SmartEvent and SIEMs, we can now see exactly what's happening on the network, detect malicious behavior early, and respond faster.

Another huge benefit is compliance and audit readiness. Check Point helps us demonstrate control, segmentation, and logging, making our internal assessments and cybersecurity reviews far easier and less stressful.

Overall, it’s helped us move from reactive firefighting to proactive protection, while keeping operations stable and secure

  ### 46. Lack of centralized management.

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 20, 2025

**What do you like best about Check Point Next Generation Firewalls (NGFWs)?**

To be fair, there are a few things Check Point gets right. The VSX architecture is solid. it’s great for multi-tenant environments where you need strong segmentation and isolated policy control. It’s one of the few areas where Check Point feels flexible and scalable.

I also appreciate the push toward Autonomous Threat Prevention. Automating policy updates and threat responses is a step in the right direction, especially in environments where manual intervention can slow things down. And their AI agent integration shows promise. it’s good to see them trying to modernize detection and response workflows.

That said, these strengths don’t fully make up for the operational headaches. The platform still feels clunky, and the threat intelligence gaps are hard to ignore. But if I had to pick what works best, it’s those few features that show potential VSX, automation, and AI-driven enhancements.

**What do you dislike about Check Point Next Generation Firewalls (NGFWs)?**

Check Point NGFWs are operationally inefficient and architecturally fragmented. Routine tasks often require logging into multiple consoles, and in high availability (HA) setups, peer synchronization is unreliable forcing manual configuration on each device via Gaia. This introduces unnecessary complexity and increases the risk of misconfiguration.

The threat intelligence database also shows gaps. In real-world deployments, I’ve seen Check Point allow inbound traffic that was later flagged and blocked by internal firewalls from other vendors. This raises concerns about its ability to detect and respond to emerging threats.

Compared to other vendors, Check Point lacks agility, streamlined workflows, and intuitive management. The platform feels outdated and is a challenge to maintain in fast-paced enterprise environments.

**What problems is Check Point Next Generation Firewalls (NGFWs) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Check Point NGFWs aim to solve core perimeter security challenges like intrusion prevention, application control, and threat mitigation. In theory, features like Autonomous Threat Prevention and AI-driven analysis are designed to reduce manual overhead and improve detection accuracy. The VSX architecture also helps with multi-tenant segmentation, which is useful in complex environments.
