Too much emphasis on AI features: With the recent focus in AI heavy features, other much more useful but simple functional improvements seem to have taken a back seat.

Sometimes the software was a little laggy.

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is keeping medical information in one place so professionals can read and check up on charts to get specifics into patients.

  ### 5. Cerner as a physician in training

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Syed H. | Medical education, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2024

**What do you like best about Cerner?**

The best part about Cerner was the ease of access to note writing tools, the simplicity of the user interface, and the elegant organization of lab values as well as easy access to Neuro imaging, which is heavily used as I am a neurologist in training.

**What do you dislike about Cerner?**

A lack of a feature such as care everywhere as seen in Epic, which was a huge game changer for us when we switched. However because of the simplicity and organization of not writing tools in Cerner, I actually really did miss Cerner when we switched over to a different EHR at our hospital.

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ease of note writing, access to daily lab values, able to view new changes in patient status, seamlessly using neuro imaging tools.

  ### 8. Good, but Could be better

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ka Ming L. | Food Services Supervisor/Diet Technician/Administrator, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 20, 2022

**What do you like best about Cerner?**

Everything is done electronically and records are kept.

**What do you dislike about Cerner?**

Limitation of customization for non - management level usage.
Ideally there should only be one nutrition order ( any new order would override old orders). It would be helpful if users are able to filter out everything they don't need without having to submit a request to do this.
It would also be helpful if there is a report showing any transfer &/or patient discharges since the last time we refreshed the site

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having all physicians orders and labworks electronically uploaded (instead of having a physical copy). Benefits: most up to date order / report is shown... And accessible by all different multidisciplinary health care team

  ### 9. Cerner user experience

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2022

**What do you like best about Cerner?**

I don't really like anything about Cerner.

**What do you dislike about Cerner?**

Too many windows to go through to get to information. Have a hard time finding information I need, such as infusion times, orders, etc.

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I worked with Cerner a couple years ago and again recently. Nothing has changed.

  ### 11. Cerner Behavior Health (EHR) is below average for behavioral health systems

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joanne J. | Electronic Health Record Coordinator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2018

**What do you like best about Cerner?**

Progress Noting functionality is highly configurable and can be attached to specific user templates and profiles. Individualized levels of security is also highly configurable with menu groups, user-specific access control, homepage templates, credentials, and other ways to control what a clinician/staff member can see and do.

**What do you dislike about Cerner?**

The billing module is very difficult for my organization to use as we work with a variety of both commercial and state PMAP/Medicare/Medical Assistance payors. We have to use a 3rd party clearing house and the Cerner product requires a lot of manual editing and managing of claims that might be rejected due to non-clinical reasons.

The reporting functionality on the older Cerner behavioral health product is not useful. We have seen a preview of the newer Millennium product, but even that does not allow as much configuration and ease of use as other behavioral health EHR products. Currently, in order to do clinical, billing, and operational reporting for our organization we have to use Microsoft Access databases that draw exported data (.csv files) from the Cerner product, but the reports have to be run and acted upon through Mircosoft products.

Additionally, the support from Cerner headquarters has been very poor. We have had an issue with promoting (a small upgrade with additional Cerner software) that is impacting some of our clinical documentation and communicated the importance of getting this fixed ASAP to Cerner. Their support has been spotty (some weeks we get phone calls and attention, then others we receive no communication for 3 weeks at a time). The issues has been going on 3 months and still we have no timeline from them about when we can get it fixed, even after our attempts to contact and get updates at least twice a week.

**Recommendations to others considering Cerner:**

Cerner is improving its behavioral health product, but it is still not at the same level of integrated functionality as other EHR products that focus only on behavioral health. If you are an organization that only does behavioral health I would not recommend using Cerner products. If you have both Medical and Mental health, then it might be better since Cerner's medical modules are more advanced.

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cerner behavioral health is our EHR solution allowing us to incorporate clinical documentation, billing, and (to some extent) reporting on business operations. It allows for secure documenting of clinical notes, diagnostic and other assessments, management of client forms, billing information, behavioral health billing and insurance management, and clinical oversight.

  ### 12. Works decently but wouldn’t consider outstanding

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elizabeth H. | Researcher, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2021

Levels of access needed to be able to use certain features it seems.

  ### 13. Cerner EMR

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 22, 2021

**What do you like best about Cerner?**

Cerner is generally straightforward and easy to use. There are not a lot of hidden things that are difficult to find. It is easy to learn whether or not you have experience working with electronic medical records.

**What do you dislike about Cerner?**

You can only have two patient charts opened at a time, which poses a challenge if you are trying to multitask or your tasks necessitate having multiple charts open simultaneously. It would be helpful to have to ability to have more than two charts open at a time.

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cerner allows entering orders quickly and communicating with other staff quickly as well. It also makes training new staff members more efficient because it is easy to use and learn.

  ### 14. Cerner Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2021

**What do you like best about Cerner?**

There are tabs for various departmental results such as lab, dietary, pharmacy, so that everything is well organized.

**What do you dislike about Cerner?**

Cerner only provides infrastructure for many functions. You need to have an IT team build functions for templates. Cerner doesn't do that build for you.

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's a very good EHR system for physician, ancillary, pharmacy, radiology and all other departments. It is also very good for results documentation. However, it is poor for patuent interface and posting results for patients to access.

Cerner is used at my workplace for managing all health systems records and submitting orders. The benefit is the ability to organize and securely maintain so much data.

**Reviewed Date:** April 12, 2018

**What do you like best about Cerner?**

I like that you can really customize the program.

**What do you dislike about Cerner?**

There are many things that i dislike, but the biggest concern I have is the fact that there seems to be multiple ways to carry out the same task. This leads to people being on different pages and sometimes things getting lost in the shuffle.

**Recommendations to others considering Cerner:**

to wait for them to really work out the kinks

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are working on customer relationships and communication so that it becomes more efficient for the patient and easier for them to get ahold of us if they need something

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cerner is not necessarily solving problems, but benefiting hospital systems that still use their EMR software.

Security features, functionality, and ability to integrate with a variety of platforms are some of best qualities about Cerner.

  ### 27. A detailed method for creating patient electronic medical record.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sascha M. | Social Media Communications Manager , Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2019

**What do you like best about Cerner?**

As a medical scribe in an emergency room I am extremely familiar with the many aspects of Cerner. I have spent endless hours in the past 3 years creating lengthy detailed documents in cerner. The greatest benefit of cerner is the many details that are available to be found within in the system. Not simply the patients previous visit within the emergency room, but as well as previous hospital admission and hospital related urgent cares. Information is easily pulled in through the system with little work required on behalf of the one creating the chart, this includes PMHx, FHx, medications, allergies, and all diagnostic testing done while in the emergency room. Everything is very clearly labeled and once you have become familiar with the system it takes seconds to access any specific patient information.

**What do you dislike about Cerner?**

It has it's finicky moments when cerner will shut down at random, most often whether or not the document saved within 2 minutes it will reappear with no details lost. Although it typically shuts down at least once a shift, I have never lost a chart due to this or had to start over with the chart I had created.

**Recommendations to others considering Cerner:**

Once you are familiar with the system you are able to get to the information you need without even thinking about it. This takes times but with practice going to find something within cerner will take seconds.

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quickly able to determine any needed information about a patient if they have been previously seen within out hospital system. From leaving the physician room to walking to the patients rooms I am able to determine what their last visit was for, what past medical history they have, and what medications they are currently on - All within just a minute.

**Recommendations to others considering Cerner:**

Check out other EMR and assess the pros and cons and know what it is your system needs.

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm not seeing any solutions with Cerner as I'm no longer using the platform.

  ### 29. Cerner review

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

Documentation system is easy to use. Item are easy to navigate for documentation purposes to report patient current status in hospital or hospital based skilled nursing facility. Log in credential is easy to change

**What do you dislike about Cerner?**

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Completion of timely documentation. Ease of ability to review doctors, nursing and other medical professionals notes and updates.

  ### 32. Relatively easy to learn to use and to document on.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Practice | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Cerner?**

I like that Cerner is not a web-based program, meaning that if the internet goes down, it may still work. I like that all of the information is accessible in one area, allowing me to access the physician's notes, nurse's notes, and other disciplines notes with ease.

**What do you dislike about Cerner?**

I don't like that you have to change the date range each and everytime you access the reports and records.

**Recommendations to others considering Cerner:**

I would look at how best to implement Cerner in all areas of the hospital. We presently use it in the inpatient hospital, but utilize other documentation systems in the nursing home/short-term rehabilitation setting (Optimus) and another documentation system (Medilinks) in outpatient setting.

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are better able to document quickly with Cerner because of updates we've had to our system. This saves time and makes us more efficient.

  ### 33. Pretty good EHR system

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Cerner?**

I have used 3 different charting systems as a nurse and this was my middle of the road choice. It flows like Microsoft word which I was very familiar with so that was easy to get used to this program and all the shortcuts and how it worked. There were lots of options to chart things and you could get very specific. Alot of it was free text which has it's pros and cons. I love how it automatically calculates your I/Os based on all meds that are running at the rates you document.

**What do you dislike about Cerner?**

Sometimes there were lots of unnecessary steps to do things. And sometimes docs could not see the same things that nurses see so they were not seeing all our documentation. I think it was overcomplicated at times.

**Recommendations to others considering Cerner:**

Honestly go with EPIC if your system can afford it.

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pretty easy to document on my patients. It is more integrated with all providers seeing mostly the same content than some other EHRs. Their copy and paste feature is nice for quick charting when nothing has changed from previous.

  ### 34. Decent for a new user

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jonathan Ming-Yan F. | Resident Physician, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 04, 2019

**What do you like best about Cerner?**

It has fairly intuitive functionality that made it easy to switch to Cerner from Epic which I used at my previous job.

**What do you dislike about Cerner?**

It can be annoying to toggle between all the different pages. I have had issues with writing notes in one window, having to leave it to fetch some other data, and then losing my work on the note and having to start over again.

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Cerner as EHR to take care of patients in the hospital.

  ### 35. Hospital management and patient information flow.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Malcom T. | Medical Doctor, Medical Practice, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 29, 2019

**What do you like best about Cerner?**

Its great interoperability and many integration is also marvelous for the hospital health management functionality just one of my best features.

**What do you dislike about Cerner?**

I dont like the fact that I have to sighn to each and every single programme of it they should just make it to a one general sign in.

**Recommendations to others considering Cerner:**

Incase you are looking for an electronic management tool for your hospital then it is time you consider taking it for the flow in different hospital departments.

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Scheduling of our hospital patient activities such as surgery, maternity, laboratory and ER patient scheduling.

  ### 36. Cerner is great most of the time

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2019

**What do you like best about Cerner?**

Cerner is very self explanatory and allows those who have never worked with cerner to use it.

**What do you dislike about Cerner?**

Cerner likes to hide things within folders and other areas that makes it harder to find pt. information.

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving the issue of having too many things in the task bar. We have realized it is great for having a lot of information in the same space

  ### 37. Satisfied with Cerner

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 20, 2019

**What do you like best about Cerner?**

The icons and colors to define sections and assignments make it user friendly

**What do you dislike about Cerner?**

I dislike that there is no easy way to chart notes without writing a clinical event. If you can’t Ed documents, nursing note, you can not see it on the flow chart...so no one ever sees it unless they do chart reviews

**Recommendations to others considering Cerner:**

Don’t be intimidated you will get used to it

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not necessarily solving any problems with it. I am managing charting patient care. It’s beneficial because once you get used to it it is easy to use

  ### 38. Cerner review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Madison L. | Paramedic , Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2019

**What do you like best about Cerner?**

I LOVE cerner. Cerner is the program my company utilizes for documentation and keeping track of patients.

**What do you dislike about Cerner?**

Sometimes I have noticed that when we change things on cerner, it takes a bit for everyone’s interface to change. But that is a very small dislike.

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving any and every problem.

  ### 39. Cerner Experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashley S. | School Nurse, Hospital & Health Care, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2019

**What do you like best about Cerner?**

Cerner is very easy to use. The Ad Hoc I believe is the best feature, and this is something Epic is lacking. Cerner is very easy to navigate.

**What do you dislike about Cerner?**

Having to use Athena to check in patients, and not having access to outside records (which they have started to do with Wheaten Franciscan records)

**Recommendations to others considering Cerner:**

I believe cerner is much easier than using EPIC. Only downfall is if you need any technical support you have to call IS. They do not have an ambulatory tip sheet like EPIC does.

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Patient care (charting)

  ### 40. I use Cerner at the hospital I work at.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Cerner?**

EMR interface is streamlined. I like how the lab values are organized and the processing time.

**What do you dislike about Cerner?**

It is hard to search lab values, the search feature should be better integrated. Making patient lists is also a little strenuous.

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am involved in treating patients and interpreting patient charts.

  ### 41. Advanced Easy to Use

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Cerner?**

This is a very advanced program that is easy to look up notes, vitals, past notes, meds and data is easily passed on from one person to another.

**What do you dislike about Cerner?**

Has a lot of different tabs and ways to navigate between data and needs coach to learn, but overall it's worth it.

**Recommendations to others considering Cerner:**

Make sure you have coaches to train staff

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Problems solved would be that lots of data, past records can be stored and retrieved easily.

  ### 42. Corner: useful for nurses

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2019

**What do you like best about Cerner?**

I like how easy it is to use for charting and to see what the doctors have ordered.

**What do you dislike about Cerner?**

It doesn’t have as many features as other brands and isn’t as as Ascetically pleasing

**Recommendations to others considering Cerner:**

Update the settings more and make communication between doctors and nurses easier

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Center has made charting easy allowing me to spend less time on the computer and more time interacting with patients

  ### 43. Solid EMR System

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2019

**What do you like best about Cerner?**

It does a good job of organizing all of the records and having a diverse set-up to capture it all

**What do you dislike about Cerner?**

It isnt as user friendly as other EMRs like EPIC. You need more clicks to get to where you want to go.

**Recommendations to others considering Cerner:**

Be prepared for a high learning curve but it has a lot of capabilities once you learn it.

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Maintaining patient records

  ### 44. Cerner review

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Cerner?**

I use Cerner at work. I work at a hospital it it’s the way we put in orders, patients hx and doctors notes.

**What do you dislike about Cerner?**

I don’t like that there is a lot of clicking. It’s something I’ve gotten use to too but there can be shortcuts based on how much we use this program

**Recommendations to others considering Cerner:**

None

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We cut a lot of time charting using this program which we assume is why which switched to this about 3-4 years ago.

  ### 45. Love this program!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2019

**What do you like best about Cerner?**

I have been exposed to many different types of EHR programs in the hospital setting and this is by far the most user-friendly!

**What do you dislike about Cerner?**

Honestly, there is not one aspect that I dislike.

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ease of charting, the ability for a healthcare professional to find a patient's information quickly

  ### 46. Cerner has been very easy to learn

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Taylor M. | Care Coordinator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Cerner?**

With Cerner, we can access our client's information with other providers within our agency.

**What do you dislike about Cerner?**

We are unable to use Cerner outside of our agency which is challenging when we work in a community-based program and are not always in the office to access the software.

**Recommendations to others considering Cerner:**

No additional recommendations at this time.

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to use this software to document our treatment notes, assessments, and client demographic information.

  ### 47. Corner is a useful software for healthcare professionals

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Cerner?**

It is a very useful software that allows me to be more efficient at my workplace.

**What do you dislike about Cerner?**

There are not many cons of this software. However, there are the occasional glitches in the system just as there are in anything else.

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The benefits of Cerner include time management, organization, and better care of my patients.

  ### 48. Easy to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 20, 2019

**What do you like best about Cerner?**

Easy to use. Seems to be very customizable

**What do you dislike about Cerner?**

I haven’t personally found things I dislike. I’m not an administrator but if there is ever a problem or something that needs fixed it gets done. Requests I have made to alter our charting in Cerner have been completed if approved by management. Hey do have a lot of updates that cause downtime but that is pretty standard I’m sure.

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Patient charting

  ### 49. A usable, but not my favorite EMR

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2019

**What do you like best about Cerner?**

I like the power plan function and the preloaded plans uploaded by my hospital that make common order sets accessible. I find the fusion mobile app easy to use and fast for on the go lookup of information
I find the graphing functions very helpful

**What do you dislike about Cerner?**

-wish there was a HIPPAA compliant photo application in fusion that would let me upload images to a patients chart
-it would be nice if you could set a triggering event which would auto initiate a power plan (such as admission to the floor)
-would really benefit from a search function to search the patient chart

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fast order placement, I love being able to save my most used orders. Graphing function on vitals and labs really helps me visualize trends.

  ### 50. Feels like Home

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Practice | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Cerner?**

I have used Cerner for the majority of my nursing career and the ease of using it feels like home. I especially like that there are only 1-2 ways to get to a specific area of the chart rather than endless options that can leave you feeling confused.

**What do you dislike about Cerner?**

Cerner does have room for improvement because the user finds themselves clicking and clicking to get to one area of the chart. It would be more convenient to reach an area of the chart with one to two clicks. Also double charting can be time consuming when trying to complete certain tasks or documentation

**What problems is Cerner solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cerner helps the staff recognize the urgency of certain tasks and provides different icons for different tasks ordered which is great visualization for everyone.
