## About Cardboard
Cardboard is the world’s most accessible and affordable VR platform, supporting both Android and iOS. Cardboard enables immersive VR experiences by fusing data from the phone's sensors to predict the user's head position in both the real and virtual worlds. This combined with Cardboard's simple, easy-to-use headset makes it ideal for quick VR experiences.

## Cardboard Reviews
 ### 1. Basic Introduction to VR at a very low cost, but it has gotten better

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex H. | Support manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2020

**What do you like best about Cardboard?**

The cost of the complete solution is basically its main feature
You can use your current mobile phone, as long as you have Android, to use it
Since it's so cheap there's not really any issues with it breaking or getting damaged
New version of Android uses it better

**What do you dislike about Cardboard?**

The material used for Cardboard is not the best possible, so you need to be careful with how you use it and where you use it
The project we were using it for required something a little bit more developed, altough we obviously understand that this is a low cost solution and it cannot have all the bets features for the same price
Real VR has gotten cheaper and better

**Recommendations to others considering Cardboard:**

If you need a cheap and easy introduction to VR hardware and possible usages, this is your best option. I stopped using it since we moved from that project to something else, but look at it before going for the Occulus or other options.
We are not current users of it because our project got cancelled, but this is basically your best option for low cost VR and easy to develop for

**What problems is Cardboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mainly as a proof of concept, since I do not use it with my work but it's something that we're looking into
Trying to implement a Kanban solution using VR and some custom software that we were developing

Not confortable. Cannot be used for longer durations. The product doesn't place much emphasis on user friendliness

It has no strap, we have to hold the cardboard by hand. It should come up with built in holding mechanism

 ### 8. A decent introduction to VR at a rock-bottom entry point.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ed G. | Field Quality Lead, Hardware Operations, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 21, 2020

**What do you like best about Cardboard?**

Cost -- plain and simple. While the official Google Cardboard viewer is $15.00, there are quite a few lower cost (≈$9) viewers out there.

**What do you dislike about Cardboard?**

Most viewers require physically holding the cardboard to your face. There are obvious drawback here, particularly if watching long-form content. That said, you can purchase (more expensive) viewers with the option to strap your device to your head.

**Recommendations to others considering Cardboard:**

Go into it understanding the limitations of the basic viewers.

Content is best viewed from a Cardboard-ready phone (listed on the Google Cardboard site).

**What problems is Cardboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Again, the viewers' low entry points make VR accessible to everyone. It's a huge benefit at trade shows -- you can provide branded viewers to passersby at minimal cost, and allow them to view product/experience locations in a virtual space.

 ### 9. Cardboard helps you watch a content in different view.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Logistics and Supply Chain | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Cardboard?**

The viewing material. The Quality of product.

**What do you dislike about Cardboard?**

Need a box to carry it anywhere. Nothing.

**What problems is Cardboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is helping me to view the 4R content in efficient way. Viewing pattern.

 ### 10. Best for a newbee learning

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 20, 2021

**What do you like best about Cardboard?**

Its best for first experience. And learning.

**What do you dislike about Cardboard?**

Its size and material. Can be better with its design.

**What problems is Cardboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Created vr based games and learning apps for kids

 ### 11. Unique idea!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Games | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2020

**What do you like best about Cardboard?**

It's inexpensive and I like that it supports android as well because that's what type of phone I have.

**What do you dislike about Cardboard?**

Irs a flimsy design. It could be made with better quality and not sure why they're aren't any headstraps to hold it firmer.

**What problems is Cardboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest truly is the design. There is no padding so it's not as comfortable. It's not ideal to use during most scenarios.

The benefits are the set up is quick at least.

 ### 12. Google Cardboard VR win

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2019

**What do you like best about Cardboard?**

These low cost VR Googles opened the walls of my classroom. We were able to travel to many different parts of the world and experience life, cultures, and change over time. The low cost of the product let us purchase enough headsets for each student in our class. As opposed to only being able to have 10-15 and share with a class of 30.

**What do you dislike about Cardboard?**

Its cardboard so it holds up ok. About the first few years I anticipate that we will need to replace them. Also we are very cautious of how we store the headsets, since they are cardboard and don't want them getting wet.

**What problems is Cardboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Access for all students instead of a few at a time. Students are more engaged in the activity when we can have enough access for all students. It allows me to show my inner city students the world, without this experience we wouldn't be able to show them.

 ### 13. Google Cardboard Intro to VR

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Simon W. | Automotive Designer, Automotive, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2019

**What do you like best about Cardboard?**

Cheap, easy to set up, no special hardware required. Good variety of content available through my smart phone / youtube, etc. I thought the very simple button was novel.

All in all i thought that the cardboard was fantastic at accomplishing what it set out to do - be an affordable gateway introduction into VR for the masses.

**What do you dislike about Cardboard?**

Phone could easily fly out of the google cardboard - it was also extremely uncomfortable to use for longer than 5 minutes. Had to jerry rig a solution using fabric. Resolution was also quite bad, though this is to be expected with a product that cheap, and made of cardboard.

**Recommendations to others considering Cardboard:**

Definitely recommend it as a first purchase for those whom are looking into Virtual Reality. It is an affordable easy to use first step.

Dont expect too much regarding the qualityt of the device, it is only 5$ afterall, however that said, there is much that can be done with the google cardboard.

**What problems is Cardboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Initially was an introduction piece to VR, to help decide if it was worth purchasing a true VR headset. It peaked my interest enough for me to later purchase an Oculus Rift.

I attempted to use the Cardboard headset to validate some architectural 3D models, to verify the scale of my models. I had mixed results here, largely through problems with the app software not being powerful enough to properly view 3D files via an iphone 6.

 ### 14. Best for VR first timers

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eduardo A. | Game Programmer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 22, 2018

**What do you like best about Cardboard?**

Its SDK for Unity is almost a "just one click" implementation, it has everything you need to start working in the real experience for the user, and not being in pain by implementing tons of previous stuff.

**What do you dislike about Cardboard?**

With many different alternatives for VR out there, it has become one of the most basic ones; this could be good, but sometimes comparing with other experiences it gets "short", so is difficult to create greater experiences.

**What problems is Cardboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The simple and quick implementation is perfect for fast prototyping, so you can have a basic look on your app/game without spending too much time.

 ### 15. Experimenting with VR

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ben W. | Fourth Grade Teacher, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 13, 2018

**What do you like best about Cardboard?**

The ability to use the camera to experience VR settings is amazing. Though it is a little clunky on the OS, I think it has good potential.

**What do you dislike about Cardboard?**

It’s a little clunky to use, especially trying to upload images for VR experiences.

**What problems is Cardboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Virtual field trips and augmented reality experiences.
