WebDAM's customization options are near-infinite; we currently have over 300 authenticated users sorted into 20 groups. We choose who sees what, and what assets are public, private and/or require admin approval before downloading. Saves time exponentially, and gives us piece of mind over how and where our assets are being used. **What do you dislike about Bynder Webdam?** Brand Connect looks great on paper, and is always showcased well during webinars, etc. But in reality, documentation around how to implement, and the limitations or best practices is very limited. Would be great if there were a more formal "how-to" toolkit or guide to help new users plan and implement this service. **Recommendations to others considering Bynder Webdam:** Develop a strong strategy and plan for both implementation and management. Start small, and increase your asset library as your user base increases. Build internal engagement (especially in large organizations) through training and DAM roadshows. **What problems is Bynder Webdam solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our main business problems were insecure asset storage, widespread duplication and asset ROI. With WebDAM, we've been able to eliminate the majority of duplicates, implement a single, secure source for our assets, and begin tracking their usage through WebDAM's robust reporting tools. It has made us more agile, and allowed our users easier access to the latest, greatest—and official—assets for our organization. ### 2. Growing powerful asset management system **Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Stephanie E. | Assistant Director of Marketing, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** December 01, 2015 **What do you like best about Bynder Webdam?** Among the many functions WebDAM provides, here are the highlighted few we fully take advantage of: • Lighboxes and cross collaboration: WebDAM allows our organization to decentralize its assets for community members to collaborate through light-boxes and individually. • Manage users: You can set and manage users access, which is great as we have many purchased photos that we don't want our 100+ employees having access to. • Inactive photos: We can sunset photos to ensure dated photos aren't being downloaded and used • Branded portal (beta): I haven't yet explored the branded portal, but the webinar I attended showed many additional options of customizing and branding the users portal **What do you dislike about Bynder Webdam?** Our institution was one of the early adopters of WebDAM and have seen many of the functionalities improve as well as function be added for usability based off recommendations. The only issues that our department has come across is being able to properly find photos based on tags and meta data. We have found some images don't display when we have typed in the keywords. I would suggested based on industry, having "canned" tags readily available or when a tag is manually added, other tags are suggested based on the keyword/phrase. We aren't keywording experts so sometimes it's hard for us to determine what the college community would be typing in to find that particular image. **What problems is Bynder Webdam solving and how is that benefiting you?** Mostly stated above in "What do you like best" our biggest obsticle prior to WebDAM, was searching for photos and having to manually find photos for the college community. Our staff was spending many hours searching photos for others within the college as they prepare their own on-demand marketing materials. It was frustrating and time not well spent for our staff. Thus, WebDAM's solution had provided the solution so we could decentralize or photo asset approach and allow users to search for their ideal image without having to spend hours. Additionally, many times images that were being used were from years prior. Staff come and go and not all staff are aware of the year of the photo. This solution allows us to add a "shelf life" on the photos. They can become inactive after a defined timeframe. This is especially ideal when we have a 1 time event and don't want the prior year's event used. We can sunset them after 1 year. ### 3. It allows so many ways for my creative team to help manage, control and distribute our brand materials to internal and external folks. But what impressed me the most was the constant innovation and support that WedDAM provides. Our old system couldn't connect to external systems (like SFDC), took too long to upload materials, and could not give us the insight needed to manage our brand properly. With WebDAM, it is an instant upgrade and out of the gate we are in a better position to create a more consistent, global brand. **What do you dislike about Bynder Webdam?** With all of the options, it is hard to know what you need out of the gate. But working with the WebDAM team we were able to choose what we need now, and figure out how to add on later. **Recommendations to others considering Bynder Webdam:** Do your research. There are a lot of companies out there that offer DAM solutions. Know what you need versus what you wold love to have. This helped us easily compare the various companies and in the end pick the solution that fit our needs best. **What problems is Bynder Webdam solving and how is that benefiting you?** We needed to have a more robust way to distribute our brand guidelines and materials globally to internal marketing professionals and agencies. And, we needed to control the access time agencies were granted. As a company, we are going exponentially and WebDAM allows us to connect the growing number of users to our brand, but also allows us to regionally distribute materials that they can edit and own for themselves. ### 4. Being able to customize your Brand Portal is a nice feature. I enjoy working with the WebDam team. **What do you dislike about Bynder Webdam?** There are some kinks that need to be fixed in my opinion. For instance there is only a global download agreement preference. If you have multiple brands on multiple portals with different agreements this serves no purpose. In Brand Connect there is no way to make an image a hyperlink. There is no way to change fonts and sizes of fonts in the custom feature of Brand Connect. I realize it's a beta version but these are basics things. Also cropping of photos is an issues in the custom carousel and folder icon features. It fills the area and crops most of your photos. When a Brand Portal Only user logs out of the Brand Portal it goes to the core dam login screen. **Recommendations to others considering Bynder Webdam:** It is a fairly priced out of the box online mid-tier solution. It has many standard features but can use a few more depending on your specific needs. I would recommend it for anyone starting with their first DAM solution. I can't answer yet if it's a long term solution as I just started using the product. **What problems is Bynder Webdam solving and how is that benefiting you?** Having a central image repository for my overall company and it's many brands. Adding brand portals for each of our main brands so they can serve their many retailers and vendors. ### 5. I felt like we had a very complicated problem but with every need that I presented, the WebDAM answer was, "We can take care of that." **What do you dislike about Bynder Webdam?** For the extremely reasonable price, I can't really complain about anything. Most of the issues I have are more internal and making my colleagues happy. We have a lot of work to tag and it's a daunting task. **Recommendations to others considering Bynder Webdam:** Think about what your needs are and have a consultant show you if those needs can be met. Making a massive amount of data so easily searchable is a difficult task to accomplish, but I believe WebDAM has done so. **What do you dislike about Bynder Webdam?** It has been difficult to keep consistent, meaningful communication with our product implementation specialist and our other WebDAM contacts. **Recommendations to others considering Bynder Webdam:** The software is definitely on the right track. The idea in theory is great. My largest and really only complaint is that my team and I have had a difficult time keeping consistent communication (I won't receive prompt - within the same day - responses to emails with numerous questions, for example) with our WebDAM contacts. On a related note, because we are still learning the WebDAM "language," our WebDAM contacts have been difficult to understand without asking for multiple explanations. I'm afraid there is a barrier in which our WebDAM contacts have trouble explaining to us software terms of their expertise. **What problems is Bynder Webdam solving and how is that benefiting you?** Over 2 shared drives, we have hundreds of assets that have been organized by plenty of different staff members through the years. It has become close to impossible without asking for assistance to find particular assets and files on the regular. ### 7. Access to tools like DAM success and the support received from the team at WebDAM make it easy to build a DAM that is tailored for my organisation. I am also a big fan of the brand connect front end and Shutterstock integration. **What do you dislike about Bynder Webdam?** Most of the WebDAM support team are based in the west coast US, meaning calls are generally late in the day UK time. **Recommendations to others considering Bynder Webdam:** If your organisation has strict IT and security processes, I would advise getting the ball rolling internally very early on. Before we began we had over 20,000 images that needed to be sorted and tagged and the thought of beginning was overwhelming but thanks to some of the advanced tools the process has been "pain free". **What do you dislike about Bynder Webdam?** I have not come across much I do not like but I would like for the search tools to be more advanced as well as the ability to search within the results to focus in further. I think the sorting would also benefit from some additional options. **Recommendations to others considering Bynder Webdam:** I would recommend WebDAM even though there are certain things i would like to see improved I beleive it is one of the best Asset managment systems for the cost **What problems is Bynder Webdam solving and how is that benefiting you?** Before we started using WedDam our visual assets where not in a central location and scattered on individual computers, shared drives and closed servers. Now we are on our way to getting our complete library in one place and be able to see what we have without re-shooting assets and spending money unnecessarily. ### 9. It hinders productivity and makes it very difficult to use. I reached out to my contact at WebDAM a couple of months ago and she said that they were working on solving the problem, but it is still very slow. We're not even close to our max storage space, yet there is still a significant lag. **Recommendations to others considering Bynder Webdam:** Ask to test the system for a bit longer than the trial. Upload as many assets as you can and really start to use it as if you would if you already purchased it. Use each functionality and pay attention to the length of time it takes to complete each task. **What problems is Bynder Webdam solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have thousands of photos and photo releases, as well as hundreds of stories. We were looking for a system that could help us relate our assets. WebDAM successfully does this, but again, it's been a painfully slow process. ### 10. You are able to supply a large amount of photos to our end users on one platform. **What do you dislike about Bynder Webdam?** I dislike that it is a lengthy process to upload our large photo files after every Stampede. I had issues setting up the FTP site at first because there wasn't a lot of information about it online, but when I emailed someone they were able to help me out. **Recommendations to others considering Bynder Webdam:** Get an account rep for your business. Our distributors are easily able to log in and download new assets, and so far we haven’t heard of any issues with accessibility. We like the ability to set different levels of access so that each user group only sees the assets they should. Since distributors can search or browse for whatever they need, our creative team doesn’t have to spend as much time filling asset requests which keeps productivity high. **What do you dislike about Bynder Webdam?** There are some annoyances within the web interface that could be improved upon. There's currently no way to share a folder of assets within a lightbox - assets have to be selected individually which can get tedious if you want to share a lot of files from different folders. This is a function that is extremely commonplace with other competing products and I'm surprised it was overlooked. There are a few other little things like not being able to directly drag and drop one folder into another one within their interface, and not being able to drag-and-drop upload a folder from (pretty sure you can only achieve this when you use their FTP upload service). Small UI issues like this certainly aren't deal breakers but unfortunately the team and I notice them more often than we would like to. We have a fiber optic connection at our office and asset uploads and processing seem sluggish. I have to wait for everything to upload and process before I’ll begin batch tagging assets with keywords so that they are accessible to our users. In my personal experience, the interface just seems kind of slow to respond to user actions, although I'm sure there are a lot of factors at play here - your mileage may vary. **What problems is Bynder Webdam solving and how is that benefiting you?** We needed an asset management system that would allow for our international distributors to keep up-to-date with our latest marketing materials. WebDAM allows us to roll out new campaign creative quickly and without sending a ton of attachments and emails. If there are last minute fixes, we can update files and be sure that our distributors are getting the latest versions all at once. We're noticing a much more consistent representation of our brand internationally - so far so good. ### 15. Some of that may be our organizational methods, but the speed is sometimes a concerns. Some of our users have described it as good, but "clunky." **Recommendations to others considering Bynder Webdam:** Before accessing any dam system, be aware that you are in the for long haul. We are not likely to moved these from one database to another. We've been happy with WebDAM, but I will not say it is everything we want. It's been relatively easy for our end users to pick it up and use it. **What do you dislike about Bynder Webdam?** We have tens of thousands of assets in our account and some parts of the system are not as easily navigable in areas with large amounts of files (i.e. scrolling in large folders). **Recommendations to others considering Bynder Webdam:** This is a great system, but you will also need to think about processes, goals, and internal workflows and how they match up with having a new system. **What problems is Bynder Webdam solving and how is that benefiting you?** Previously, we had all of our photo files stored on CDs and external hard drives with hard copy proof sheets. If anything, I would think the search functionality could be a little more robust. The great thing is that it takes 2 minutes to give a qualified user access to our database and we tell that user to view a quick tutorial we created that quickly explains the main DAM options and that they can use any of the assets on any type of project because we already have the users releases on file. We control the access effortlessly and we control what assets get added to the database. For us, customer service has been very responsive, especially in areas that would have an impact on our users accessing the product. **What do you dislike about Bynder Webdam?** The extra storage is a bit expensive compared to what is happening in the industry. Apple just lowered their iCloud rates to compete, but WebDAM storage rates have remained pretty constant. The search does not always pick up everything I expect it to. We probably need to spend more time working on the metadata though. **Recommendations to others considering Bynder Webdam:** I highly recommend WebDAM for those wanting a robust asset storage and retrieval product. We have been very pleased for over six years with our use of WebDAM. **What problems is Bynder Webdam solving and how is that benefiting you?** One place for all our assets, which is a controlled space so we control what assets get loaded into the database. We have three admins, which lets us tightly control access and uploads. I thought it was going to have more functionality like "Dropbox" where I could just open the files. This is not the case. If you want to talk to someone about an issue you have you'll have to wait, and wait and wait and wait. They don't even answer their own phones - they have an answering service that takes your name and issue and then tells you they will call you back. Their DAM success helpsite requires a different password and login to get in and then when you do get in, good luck finding the answer to the issue you have. It's freaking expensive. If you have a guest create a lightbox/collection, and then they request a download, there is no way to know which lightbox/collection that guest created and if the guest doesn't know your email address and also doesn't include their email address in their request, you'll never know about it. Frustrating. **Recommendations to others considering Bynder Webdam:** Make sure you fully try out the service if you can. Make them show you a workflow and run thru each scenario of application prior to signing any contracts. WIth the templates - we can lock-down images, fonts, font sizes ---whatever we want --and keep more consistency throughout the system. I find customer service responsive when there is an occasional issue, but of course I'd like it better if someone could just come to my desk and SEE what the issue is! **Recommendations to others considering Bynder Webdam:** This is an easy product to recommend to those needing a robust and user-friendly digital asset management system. **What problems is Bynder Webdam solving and how is that benefiting you?** WebDAM is a time-saver in terms of providing images to our campus community to use. We no longer have to receive their individual requests, locate images for them, and deliver them to them. Also it allows us to provide a large variety of quality images our clients can use, thereby limiting the use of inappropriate or low-quality images to portray our university. ### 48. It's fairly easy to use and met all of the criteria we had for an online archival system (tagging, password protected, searchable, large storage capacity, ability to store videos and other media types) **What do you dislike about Bynder Webdam?** Sometimes the system is lightening fast, but all too often, webDAM takes forever and ever and ever to load pages. It's quite frustrating and no one at webDAM seems to be able to tell us the problem. That is probably my single largest complaint. I also don't like that the folder names aren't searchable. I find that to be hugely inconvenient. **Recommendations to others considering Bynder Webdam:** webDAM is pricey, so make sure before you sign with them that you have a dedicated person to manage your account or it isn't worth the money. That was our biggest mistake. Administration has changed hands quite a few times, and aside from the temp we hired to research and create our online database, we haven't had one single person dedicated to maintaining this ever-growing library. Because of that, things easily get disorganized and assets go untagged or improperly tagged. If you don't have someone to own it, don't spend the money. **What problems is Bynder Webdam solving and how is that benefiting you?** Before using webDAM, our photos were all on a shared drive. We were quickly running out of space, couldn't find anything, and had to email everything to share files. webDAM has solved this problem for us. It's also been an asset for us when working with outside designers. We are able to use the lightbox feature to showcase exactly the images we'd like them to use. ### 49. Their entire staff, from CEO to sales to customer service to dev, are a pleasure to work with, and despite my hundreds of requests for new features, they never get annoyed, but instead realize that it's a win-win situation: my company gets the feature they need, and WebDAM gets a new feature to their already massive amount (which in turn helps all of their other clients, of which the list is incredibly impressive, by the way). I've been working with DAM systems for a decade and nobody comes close to WebDAM, in every aspect. I'm looking forward to being in business with them for a long, long time. **What do you dislike about Bynder Webdam?** Honestly, there isn't anything. If something comes up that doesn't work for us, they're incredibly quick to fix it. If there is a feature that they don't have that we need, they are incredibly quick to implement it. We love everything about WebDAM! **What problems is Bynder Webdam solving and how is that benefiting you?** We now have an intuitive, easy to use platform for sharing assets across 8 different brands. We spend less money on double-purchasing stock photography because of the ease of use. Our logos and our brand information is widely accessible across all of our different brands. ### 50.
