I really appreciate the graphical analysis as well as the speed of operation even over quite large historical periods. I also find the budgeting and forecasting menus very helpful and powerful. Overall the application is quite powerful and very simple to use. This is the financial application I have kept using for the longest time (>10 years) and I see no reason to change. **What do you dislike about Buxfer?** The only functionality I'm missing is the ability to analyze exchange rate evolution in a multi currency user profile. This seems to be kind of a stretch for the development team. Beyond that I'm very happy with this financial application even though a direct connection to bank accounts would further facilitate the load of data. **What problems is Buxfer solving and how is that benefiting you?** Historical transaction analysis and reporting ; Budgetting and Forecasting activities ; graphical drilldown analysis ; overall significantly improving my productivity on financial matters. ### 2. Thanks to Buxfer, I have better visibility of my past expenses, with a comparison between the current month and the previous one. **What do you dislike about Buxfer?** The mobile app could be improved so as to exactely get the same experience we get on the Desktop. Moreover, I would be more inclined to add 1 our 2 USD to my current plan, the Pro Plan, rather than 5 USD more to get the Prime Plan, which allows gaining control of your investments and retirement plan. However, I don't know of any other SAAS solution that can do better. By far, Buxfer surpasses them all. **What problems is Buxfer solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's just amazing how I manage to optimize my short-term cash flow needs, better sequence my future expenses and repairs thanks to Buxfer. And with the Pro Plan I have the possibility of controlling and planning my investments thanks to a multi-year forecast. So I can reasonably and sustainably make investment projections by understanding my short-term and long-term cash flow needs without any hassle. ### 4. Obviously, the people who make the app don't use it - There are bugs (e.g. recently the app created a new account automatically and started synchronizing new transactions there. now I have to transfer transactions manually apparently) - the lack of support. when I started using the app I created tickets for bugs and suggestions for improvements. after 4 or 5 reports I got zero replies and stopped trying to solve these problems. **Recommendations to others considering Buxfer:** If you don't need automatic synchronization or you know another service that works with your bank - then I highly recommend you avoid Buxfer. **What problems is Buxfer solving and how is that benefiting you?** The only reason I continue to use the app is that Buxfer can sync transactions automatically from my bank (i am in Germany). ### 5. The tagging and auto-tagging are great and the clarity of the representation too. You can drill down both the past and the future, and track and budget everything. Last but not least you can share the access, easily manage multiple identities (even small companies, for example) and the export tool is *GREAT*. If you are missing some banks (ex. EU Banks) in QBO, for example, THIS IS THE TOOL. Two clicks and everything is done with their *PERFECT* QBO export. The price is fair **What do you dislike about Buxfer?** it is not a real issue but maybe sometimes you could prefer a pure envelope tool like YNAB. I should say that I am using both, even for my companies. Nothing else. **Recommendations to others considering Buxfer:** it is really a good product, you will not find a lot of cool but useless features of the most common ones, just a solid tool that works. **What problems is Buxfer solving and how is that benefiting you?** you have a centralized situation of your banks in your pocket, a nice tool for analysis and budgeting, the research of a transaction is simple, fast and effective. I am using the software even for my small companies, you can obtain a good export tool to import the transactions in the accounting one. ### 6. I look out 12 months at all my projected income and expenses. It makes a big difference to have that kind of visibility. I get alerts before large payments go out that allows me to check balances and move money around if needed. **What do you dislike about Buxfer?** Sometimes the sync with my financial institutions stops working. That is more of a problem with Plaid than Buxfer though as most financial programs use Plaid and have the same issue. I would like to see a debt reduction feature added similar to another app I use specifically for debt management. More synching capabilities to handle non-traditional assets like Whole Life, metals, etc. would be great. **What problems is Buxfer solving and how is that benefiting you?** As I mentioned, a very suitable replacement for Quicken. I can see all of my balances at a glance and know if questionable activity occurs. I spend far less time and am more effective in tracking my finances. ### 7. Nothing unsustainable, but still quite annoying. That's when I bumped into a Which? article comparing budgeting apps. Buxfer was ranked high and I decided to try it. It didn't take long before I turned into a paying user: seamless integration with most sorts of accounts; beautifully designed dashboard which provides key information at a glance; ability to compare trends; transactions automatically categorised; etc. And what a revelation!... All of a sudden I had a full and clear map of my expenses and, once in control, I was able to make money work better for me. **What do you dislike about Buxfer?** As a UK user, I find there is a quite limited set of non-US securities that Buxfer can automatically track. As a consequence, I need to regularly update some shares, ETFs, etc. prices manually to keep my overall position up-to-date. **What problems is Buxfer solving and how is that benefiting you?** Monitoring expenses (and, of course, incomes) over time and across categories is my favourite feature. Transactions are automatically categorised, but it is extremely simple to create bespoke categories and personalised transaction allocation rules. In a nutshell, Buxfer provides a clear insight on how money works for you and, with better understanding comes better control. Personally, Buxfer has unlocked savings way beyond its cost. ### 8. I can manage on both pc (preferred) and mobile (when needed). **What do you dislike about Buxfer?** Personally, I would like to have more options on creating visualizations or connecting the data to something like PowerBI for personal review, but I'm not normal in that area. **What problems is Buxfer solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am an ex-accountant and developed my own spreadsheet style home budget that I used and evolved for about 20 years. Buxfer allowed me to keep all my tailored solutions and modifications while automating all the mundane stuff. It has a handy web and mobile client. It supports different types of accounts and is integrated with most banks. **What do you dislike about Buxfer?** Buxfer supports many banks, but not all. I still have to import data manually from one of my accounts. Fortunately, there is an option to import CSV. Buxfer allows you to assign many tags, but in my experience, it's better not to do because it affects budgeting and reporting. Also, there is no fine filtering option using tags. For example, filter out all transactions that contain more than one tag, or filter out all transactions that contain only the parent tag. **What problems is Buxfer solving and how is that benefiting you?** Before Buxfer, I tried to use various tools, but I could not find everything I needed. As a result, the last time I used Excel. Because Excel is flexible enough. But when I found Buxfer, I realized that I was spending too much time importing data from account statements. Buxfer helps me save time because it has integration with many banks, allows me to set different rules to automatically categorize expenses, allows me to budget and saves me not only money but also time, which is worth much more. ### 15. I like to input transactions manually but sync my investments, so this is perfect for me. **What do you dislike about Buxfer?** There isn't much to dislike. I worry that nobody knows about them and they'll go away, which is why I've considered upgrading my account to a level I don't need. **What problems is Buxfer solving and how is that benefiting you?** My complete financial picture is in one place without annoying sales emails (looking at you, Personal Capital and SmartAsset) and with the ability to control my own transactions without syncing to a bank (looking at you, Mint.) I've had a spreadsheet system that I've been maintaining since 1997 and like the way I'm able to keep an eye on my cash flow, enter transactions that are scheduled to happen in the coming weeks, and balance everything back to my spreadsheet. It works beautifully and I'm able to spend about 5- 10 minutes every morning looking at my complete financial situation, including the values of my rental properties and primary residence. ### 16. For me, the ease of use and ability to create and track budgets made it a perfect fit. Account syncing works 99% of the time, and an occasional sync glitch usually clears up within a day. **What do you dislike about Buxfer?** On rare occasions, duplicate transactions show up. Those can easily be identified and deleted. Also there's an odd tendency to identify any purchase using PayPal as a transfer rather than an expense. **What problems is Buxfer solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use Buxfer to track all my bank accounts and credit cards, as well as to do budgeting every month. ### 17. Buxfer have connectivity to all my accounts where their competitors does not. **What do you dislike about Buxfer?** It can be buggy a lot of the time. It is easy to use and customize. It allows for creating several banks and cash accounts. Easy transactions, transfers, tracking your spending and loans. This tool helps to forecast how bad and how good you are doing financially. It is available cloud based and as an app on the phone. The phone app helps you capture on the go all transactions. **What do you dislike about Buxfer?** all tags for transactions have to be created manually. It would have been much easier if some of these tags are ready for selection covering multiple common types transactions such as gasoline, utilities, rent.. **Recommendations to others considering Buxfer:** The platform offers a demo account. You can sign in using your google or facebook account and test the functionality with a limited number of bank accounts. The free demo has no time limit. **What problems is Buxfer solving and how is that benefiting you?** This tool gives me an integrated overview of my financial status by showing the final net worth after considering all credit cards, bank accounts, and cash.
