"More than just a crawler/log file analysis tool"

What do you like best about Botify?

The ability to drill into any/all data and combine datasets. Botify is the most flexible tool I've ever used when it comes to digging deep into your website's data. They collect damn-near everything you'd ever need and a seasoned SEO can find answers to almost anything.

The cherry on top is the built-in reports/dashboards--it gives me the ability to get C-level buy-in and then measure highly technical SEO projects that are traditionally extremely difficult to get resources allocated for, and even harder to show what progress was made once the Development pieces are complete. What do you dislike about Botify?

Setting up custom reports on your own is a bit cumbersome and has a steeper than desired learning curve. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Botify:

Use the log file analyzer and check the data weekly! It's 2019--a good log analyzer should be at the top of nearly every SEO's toolbox. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Botify solving and how is that benefiting you?

Duplicate content across product pages - Botify helps identify the biggest problem pages and then prioritize those pages based on metrics that typically had to be painstakingly paired with other data sources (think combining Copyscape data with Google Analytics data)

Crawl budget bleed - Our site has millions of pages, which eats through Google's allotted crawl budget fairly quickly. Worse still, the JS, APIs and third-party files on the site bog down Google's crawling and rendering to the point where some pages are not updated in Google's index for months on end. Botify shows us exactly what page types, pages, and files are eroding crawl budget and has allowed us to take action by either blocking via robots.txt, refactoring our JS, and moving away from client-side JS and APIs and to server-side rendering. We've seen a positive and immediate impact from these types of projects.

Site speed monitoring - We can measure our site speed improvements at the pagetype level over time.

Technical debugging - On multiple occasions, a web release has broken URL structure for crawlers. Without Botify reporting on log files, we would have been unaware of these issues and unable to pinpoint what caused a drop in rankings until many of the URLs make it into Google's index (and at that point you're already screwed) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Botify?

I've been using Botify for a year and I immediately understood the tool potential . Now, after a year of use of the crawler module, I've decided to integrate also the data coming from the logs, and those coming from the Google Search Console in order to have a unique and complete picture of the sites that I manage, and to understand if and where there are critical issues to be addressed, and how. What do you dislike about Botify?

One aspect worth improving is the organization of the data in the interface: sometimes you are buried by a lot of information and it's not always easy identify the relevant one: on this point, Botify has room for improvement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I think that botify is very useful specially if you have to manage big websites and you want to monitor every single aspect of their online behaviour (technical, content quality, information structure, etc.). Botify has helped us in identifying non-compliant URLs that produce traffic (and on which we started to work to make them compliant), URLs that had technical problems that we haven't identifyied before, and URLs with content quality / quantity problems, mainly in those site sections less important but which, in aggregate, produce interesting volumes of traffic. "A good tool for analysing big web sites"

What do you like best about Botify?

Today Botify provides a really good crawler in terms of data reliability and crawl speed. The logs analyser is very complete too. And you can easily detect a problem in your crawl by bots and extract corresponding data.

The segmentation system is very sharp. Having several levels of segmentation in the same configuration is really important for analysing websites with a deep thematic tree.

I really like the keywords module too. There's relevant data aggregating. This module is very practical to analyse performance of pages types. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Botify?

The data model in the API. Today in Data Studio you can compare only the data of a crawl with a previous crawl. I know it will be different in the next API (still in testing) but I can't wait to test this new version! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Botify?

There is a lot to love about this tool. The log file analysis is on of the best in the industry. In a world where optimizing crawl budget is crucial, Botify helps us determines when and where Google is crawling our website. Their support team is amazing too. There are loads of filters and segments that can be applied in Botify and it is overwhelming. It can be difficult to filter for the exact data you need because there is so many options. If they simplified the filter naming convention or provided a "Popular Filters" feature this might help people get acclimated more quickly. Recommendations to others considering Botify:

Do your research and you will find that Botify is the best bang for your buck. That being said, it isn't a super cheap product but compared to other all-in-one crawling products, Botify is easily half the cost. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Optimizing crawl budget and information architecture. With the log file analysis we have been able to see which pages that Google spends most of it's time and block any non-essential pages that is wasting crawl budget. What do you like best about Botify?

Great for large websites. Pretty easy to use and allows you to sort and filter by anything you can think of. Good at pointing out large content/tech issues on your site but also finding smaller issues that you might not have known were there. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Because of performance restrictions, it takes quite a bit of time to crawl our full site. Not really Botify's fault, but I wish we were able to run them quicker/more frequently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Preparing for a website migration, general site cleanup, monitoring mobile-first indexing.
