This means that I can get an initial test set up and running that verifies the foundational aspects about the hosting environment and general site characteristics and then build out a more comprehensive test plan for refinement. **What do you dislike about Beagle Security?** Setting up the API testing required setting up OAUTH2.0, which I did, but it also requires setting up roles and enabling those roles. This is not difficult, but it is not obvious that this requirement exists and the error message does not lead direcgtly to the solution. But this was the only real hitch, the rest of the setup was very smooth. **What problems is Beagle Security solving and how is that benefiting you?** Often a client's setup is opaque, relying on hosting providers and source code that may not be readily inspectable. The reports are easy to understand and provide clear insights and instructions for removing the reported issues. I'm not a security expert and don't know if this software is only aimed at sysadmins; it's not a layman's report. It's very easy to navigate, the portal works well and grouping of projects really helps track customer engagements. Its pretty comprehensive and I like the addition of swagger files for API testing. The ability to schedule tests regularly is also of great benefit. **What do you dislike about Beagle Security?** It would be nice to be able to specify exclusions for things which are false positives for some but not others - like for example TLS 1.1 is detected when using a CDN, but actually the entire site doesnt allow TLS 1.1, it just detects it due to the CDN given components. It would be nice if we can put an exclusion in so that its included in the report, but a reason why the exclusion is a false positive in this instance. Its a shame its an additional cost to have customised reports, if we could have a better export so that we could make minor changes (like the above) that would be useful. **What problems is Beagle Security solving and how is that benefiting you?** Rapid and regular vulnerability assessments for my customers. Beagle provide a good framework as a basis for a full testing regime. Reply rate is really good. **What problems is Beagle Security solving and how is that benefiting you?** Beagle Security solves the need to hire a costly security expert to make sure the code been written is secure and free from any vulnerabilities. It also saves a ton of time, as the scanning process is automated, and requires very little to no manual interference with the process. They have good help documents, but some of that may also be very technical. Getting set up is pretty easy. Add your website, verify domain ownership then begin the test. Beagle security will start to test your website and server thoroughly for all sorts of vulnerabilities in the next 2-3 days. So yes, it's a very detailed analysis and vulnerability test and it does put some strain on your hosting's CPU. When the analysis is complete, you'll get a detailed report with all the vulnerabilities found, which are categorized from Critical to Low. **What do you dislike about Beagle Security?** The report offers recommendations on what to do to fix the vulnerabilities, but they do not offer enough information on how to do the recommended things. Once you start fixing the issues, you don't know if they are actually fixed unless you make another full test. This is troublesome since a full test takes 3 days. A line-by-line item re-test on each vulnerability should be implemented for better help when trying to put the recommendations in practice. This isn't non-techie friendly. If you don't know a lot about servers and computers, you'll probably have a hard time fixing the issues yourself. You'll need to do a lot of searching for the solutions since the recommendations don't tell you how to put them into practice. **Recommendations to others considering Beagle Security:** This might cause problems if you're using shared hosting since it's a drain on your CPU. Your hosting might not like you using so much CPU and server resources. I suggest having a VPS or server for any serious website anyway. **What problems is Beagle Security solving and how is that benefiting you?** Seeing all the vulnerabilities at a glance, then being able to dive in deeper to see the details of the issue. Many loopholes are sometimes easy to fix, like changing the CHMOD of a folder. These issues are usually either forgotten when setting up a website but could be a critical vulnerability. If hiring someone you may not know what they actually test and reports may not be very detailed. Beagle makes this process very easy to the point that it's do-it-yourself. Just authorize the testing, schedule, and let it go. One other thing to note is that you have to go through a quick domain verification process (which is great so a competitor cannot hit your system with resource-intensive testing). It's quick and easy. Also, the actual testing process is clear and automated. It takes several hours to a few days to complete. Beagle's report is detailed and identifies security vulnerabilities as critical, high, medium, low, or very low which is helpful for prioritizing security fixes and upgrades.
