## Badgr Reviews
  ### 1. Great free service but now defunct and neglected by Canvas!

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Badgr?**

It is a great way to establish credntials quickly for specific awards and keep them in a neat and organized system. The API is very useful and reasonably easy to implement. For 5 years we have been using as our primary online badge provider.

**What do you dislike about Badgr?**

However, Badgr is now the ugly step child of Canvas, a K-12 suite of software solutions that hold far more development and support importance than a free platform. The product has not been updated in years and has recently implemented something that has completely broken the current API set. Clearly, the world is not complaining enough to have them fix it as the service has now been completely unresponsive for a week which means anyone using it for even a moderate solution is falling hundreds, potentially thousands of awards behind.

**What problems is Badgr solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy API awards system that can be programmed into our online credentialing needs. It keeps all of our different credentials separate and organized in a nice way.

  ### 2. Open Badges System

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Badgr?**

I like you can subscribe to an issuer's pathways. I used Badgr to learn coding skills at CodeX Academy and I think it is a great tool, I can see all my earned badges in my backpack. I can see other pathways from the issuer. My badges are linked to my email. I can see my progress through the pathways, that's awesome.

**What do you dislike about Badgr?**

I sightly dislike the pathway view, sometimes it gets frizzy. Also, I dislike the ordering of the pathways, I think they should be ordered from A to Z. Progress doesn't update properly.

**What problems is Badgr solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a micro-certification solution based on the Open Badges standard. I think micro-certifications are useful to demonstrate the capability that someone could have in a certain area.
