Backlink Vigil Reviews & Product Details

Backlink Vigil is a backlink monitoring tool for link builders, SEO agencies, in-house SEO teams, and businesses that need to keep track of links they have already acquired. Users add the page where a backlink appears and the URL it should point to. Backlink Vigil then checks the placement automatically and shows whether the link is live, missing, or currently unverifiable. Acquired backlinks can change after they are delivered. A publisher may remove a link, edit its anchor text, change it from dofollow to nofollow, or move it to another part of the page. Backlink Vigil monitors these details and records detected changes, helping teams identify placements that need investigation or follow-up. When a backlink appears to be lost, the tool performs additional verification to help reduce false alerts caused by temporary page access or crawling issues. It also keeps a history for each link, including when monitoring began, when a change was detected, and whether a lost link was later restored. Previous and current details provide context for discussing a change with a publisher or link builder. Teams can organize backlinks into projects and record the builder, placement cost, and campaign month. Bulk upload makes it easier to add links from a spreadsheet, while the Vendors, Spend, and Projects views help users review their monitored placements across campaigns. Backlink Vigil sends email alerts for confirmed link changes and provides weekly summaries. Pro users can also configure Slack notifications by project and send project email updates to a primary and secondary address, so the people responsible for a campaign can stay informed. The free plan monitors up to 10 backlinks. The Pro plan supports unlimited links and projects, bulk upload, and additional notification options. Backlink Vigil is designed specifically to monitor known placements after acquisition, giving teams a clear view of which links remain live and what changed over time.
