"Effortless, Reliable Backups for Total Peace of Mind with Simplicity at it's core."
What do you like best about Backblaze Computer Backup?

The thing I appreciate most about Backblaze is how simple it is to use. It truly feels like a set it and forget it service. Once it is installed, it quietly backs up everything in the background without needing constant attention or technical know-how. I point to a drive or a folder, and that's pretty much it.

I became a customer in 2017 after moving away from the CrashPlan situation, and Backblaze immediately felt like a breath of fresh air. The interface is clear, no java hogging my computer resources, the setup takes only a few minutes, and the service does exactly what it promises.

The biggest upside for me is peace of mind. Backblaze makes it easy to trust that my files are safe. I never have to wonder if something is being missed or if my backup is out of date. The date and time in system settings always had that displayed, so basically it's integrated in the mac OS settings. It handles large amounts of data without any issues, and it has been reliable for me for years. The combination of simplicity, stability, and predictable performance is what keeps me with Backblaze on a daily basis. Personal and work files safely backed up, sleeping soundly.

Their customer support is always ready to help, and I even find answers to questions I didn't know I had on their Reddit, with brianwski and especially YevP who I think is not even working with the company, is actively responding to any issues and questions. What do you dislike about Backblaze Computer Backup?

This is probably on my end, because I'd rather upload what I need asap, so I let the uploading consume the resources, my fans spin up, and my ISP probably has questions when I transfer hundreds of gigabytes. Could be easier on the computer, but it's the nature of things. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy Backups with Backblaze, Time Machine on MacBook Pro does the same without subscription"
What do you like best about Backblaze Computer Backup?

I used Backblaze for several years to maintain backups of my MacBook Pro. It was easy to install and use. It could be set to automatically backup, or manual. I used the latter, and backed it up incrementally weekly, and full backup monthly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Backblaze Computer Backup?

Paying an ongoing subscription for cloud backup, when I could use Apple's native Time Machine. Previous IT Admin set up the Backblaze account. When he retired and I assumed his role, I switched to Time Machine, which has the same functionality without the additional cost. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Doesn't backup all the information you want backed-up / Impossible to turn off Auto-Renew"
What do you like best about Backblaze Computer Backup?

Nothing. In addition to not backuping all the information you want backed-up, making it impossible to turn off Auto-Renew, they are also extremely poor in the billing area - I could never get them to even send me a properly made invoice Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Backblaze Computer Backup?

Horrible service: doesn't back up all the things you want/need backed-up

No help people: they make it impossible to contact them to get help

Can't get a real properly filled out business invoice

They make it impossible to turn off the auto-renewal

In order to stop auto-renewal you must cancel your account, also permanently deleting all backups - even if you still have a year left on your already paid for subscription Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Yev of Backblaze Computer Backup

Yev from Backblaze here, I'm sorry that you had a poor experience and were not able to get the support you needed. I wanted to share that you can reach our support agents at www.backblaze.com/help (we have live chat Monday through Friday) and you can open a ticket with our agents there as well. If there were issues with backing up, they should be able to assist you, however if you have product feedback, we'd appreciate you sharing that with our product management team who can be reached at: productfeedback@backblaze.com.

I understand the frustration about auto-renewing - I believe we default to that behavior so ensure that no data gets lost if someone forgets to put down a card to manually renew their service, however I have shared that feedback along with the invoicing issue you had with our Computer Backup product team for review as well!

"Used Backblaze in 3x different companies!"
What do you like best about Backblaze Computer Backup?

Their B2 bucket service mixed with restic for automating backups of corperate servers and one SAAS companies clustered file system.

One of the companies I set this up in accidentally delete over $100,000 worth of 3D models on a project. I had set up Backblaze with restic to take 24hr snapshots and was able to recover all of their work within an hour.

Their pricing model is awesome. The drive stats that they publish have guided several decisions when implementing storage for clients and my own company. Their pricing is extremely reasonable.

Mixed with restic, the Backblase B2 system is extremely easy to integrate and automate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Backblaze Computer Backup?

To be honest I have not found much to dislike. Its very much a fire and forget system. Check your backups to make sure they are being performed properly at least once a month but thats about it.

Deleting or resetting a bucket can take a very long time (well on the order of hours... so its not like its days or anything). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Backblaze, is very cheap, easy to use, a bit slow but the cost saving is huge!"
What do you like best about Backblaze Computer Backup?

The personal backup is very the best thing in the universe, it simple to use, the cost per PC is the lowest of all time because it has a big advantage, UNLIMITED storage! It will be nice to see a version for server unlimited, but I can easy understand why it not exists. Also the transparence and stats share from backblaze it awsome and it help everyone! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Backblaze Computer Backup?

The only downside it the web interface to restore the backup if you have a lot of data, it a bit slow to use, but just a bit of patience and it work very well. Also the B2 request seems a bit slow compare to other one. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easily Create Secure Backup Files Automatically For Business Data"
What do you like best about Backblaze Computer Backup?

Backblaze is the easiest and most cost-effective way to protect our computer and business files online. Backblaze backs up business data to a secure location, protecting from computer crashes, viruses and other online threats. Backups are instant, automatic and continuous. Backblaze backs up files and folders from any computer we can use, it doesn't matter whether we are using Windows and other operating systems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Backblaze Computer Backup?

Backup business files and other data online with Backblaze Personal Backup. It's cloud-based, secure and protected by the same team that runs Backblaze's data centers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Good stuff."
What do you like best about Backblaze Computer Backup?

It's transparent to me. It seems to work. I never tried to do a restore, but they swallowed a whole lot of data from my PC. Took a while, but now the incremental changes are super quick and do not seem to affect my performance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Backblaze Computer Backup?

User interface could use some improvement, but nothing terrible. In terms of the larger product, I'd love if they had better sample script for use with something like Duplicity rather than making us write scripts. Something that pre-cans the standard 24 hourly, 7 daily, 4 weekly, 12 monthly, etc. This can be written up by us, but it would be nice if there was some hand holding. "Backblaze for Photography backup"
What do you like best about Backblaze Computer Backup?

As a small business owner, Backblaze was a breeze to sign up and set up. It works well with our QNAP NAS, which we use to store our photography. Customer service was helpful when I had questions. I would recommend! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Backblaze Computer Backup?

I haven't had any dislikes to date, although it was slightly challenging to distinguish pricing until after our initial month of using this backup service. I did reach out to customer service with questions, and they did a great job answering. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
