Azure has become quite popular around the web and is offering quite a few services. Azure Media Services does now allow to upload and share all kind of media, from videos to audio, images, etc. It can be used with both business and personal accounts, including Microsoft Family, hence allowing to share either with coworkers or with family members. Competition is quite big and there are a lot of services similar to Azure. For example Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive. While they do not offer the same possibilities and options as Azure Media Services, they are free and should be sufficient for most users. If one word describes this software is "adaptable." Not only does it feature dynamic adaptive streaming, which does an excellent job of choosing the appropriate bitrate needed depending on browser and other needs, but it adapts to your business needs by only paying for what you need. It feels a bit half-baked, while the platform itself is rather good, it's not particularly stable and needs some improvement. we really never cared how much data we let employees upload to services like Stream because AMS offered so much space to us. it was also very easy to manage. some features are missing but thats what you get with cloud solutions, less customizations but more space. we're in the process of testing large video streming to 1000s of employees. Microsoft Azure Media Services allows for content to be served up with DASH, Smooth Streaming and HLS streaming formats to playback content.
