## Avo Reviews
  ### 1. Transparent Tracking Plan, Easy to Use, and Helpful Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Outi A. | Technical Web Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 09, 2026

**What do you like best about Avo?**

I really appreciate the transparency of our tracking plan. The platform is easy to use, the customer support is helpful, and I like the number of features available.

**What do you dislike about Avo?**

That the journey planner is not fully fledged yet.

**What problems is Avo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves many problems: planning and documenting our tracking plan for multiple codebases, allowing us to easily come back and refine our plans. We do not need plans on excel sheets anymore, we can see the development very easily.

  ### 2. Avo Streamlines Analytics Governance with Real-Time Insights

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Khushpreet K. | Payment Solution Specialist, Banking, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Avo?**

Avo is a robust analytics governance platform that eliminates the need for error-prone spreadsheets by offering a unified source of truth for tracking plans. It simplifies the entire data lifecycle by enabling type-safe code generation for developers and providing real-time observability through its Inspector feature, which helps catch schema violations before they make it to production.

**What do you dislike about Avo?**

Avo is a centralized tracking plan that eliminates data silos by providing a single source of truth and type-safe code to prevent implementation errors. However, it requires a significant initial time investment to set up and has a steep learning curve for non-technical team members.

**What problems is Avo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Avo provides a single source of truth for tracking plans and type-safe code to prevent data errors. However, it requires a significant initial setup effort and has a learning curve for non-technical users.

  ### 3. The Missing Analytics Documentation-Driven Governanace Toolkit

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ahmad A. | Chief Technology Officer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2025

**What do you like best about Avo?**

The App is straight forward and on very focused on solving the problem of governing analytics platform. Defining eventss schema and properties was easy. Even moving towards implementing the inspector smoothly. Moreover, the developers integrated the code generator easily for web, Android, and iOS.

All this was done in the free tier, which helped us work on analytics on our own pace and not rush into any decisions. After discovering Avo, we used it for a short while to document our Google Analytics custom events, but our usage frequencey surged once inspector and code generators were configured. We have even expanded the tool to cover all of our analytics platform including GTM, Firebase, and even custom ones like LangFuse and HotJar.

Finally, the Avo team has very detailed documentation. Their blog helped us understand a analytics deeper as we are not specialized in the domain. In a few occusions, we have contacted customer support, which helped us clarify our understanding and clear any doubts.

**What do you dislike about Avo?**

Web app is not optimized for phone or tablet (iPad mini) yet.

**What problems is Avo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Analytics data alignment across different teams. Marketing creating their own events in GTM (Google Tag Manager), while developers push events from Firebase. While we had a document entailing some practices to follow, it was impossible for us to align the teams. The came in many forms such as: marketing and deveopers create duplicate events, developers create analytics events that are miss understood by BI reports consumers, the analytics documentation was always outdated.

  ### 4. Integrate correctly and you will save a lot of time!

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Magnús . | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 14, 2024

**What do you like best about Avo?**

Avo keeps events and their shape in order and visible for all team members. It is easy to setup, and easy to modify.

**What do you dislike about Avo?**

user properties is not good. Because Avo provides you with some functions to implement in the custom destination, that should be general for all analytics platforms, it is hard to implement specific platform features correctly.

E.g. if an event is supposed to increment some user propery, (or push to array or somehow make some transactional change to state), it is not easily implemented with Avo.

**What problems is Avo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have many sources and many destinations for analytics. Avo gives everyone, developers or not, insight into what events go were and gives the data team more control of the event flow.

If used correctly, Avo can be your data engineer, so your data analysts can focus on analyzing, not implementing

  ### 5. Avo has helped us govern our analytics process and eased many pain points in our event tracking.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 20, 2023

**What do you like best about Avo?**

The Avo team is very responsive and collaborative. The git like structure for reviewing and approving tracking plans. Role-based user access. Ease of publoshing integrations.

**What do you dislike about Avo?**

Not so much a dislike but rather a request for additional functionality,
1. Be able to do bulk import of tracking plan in CSV files
2. Add tags in the CSV uploads
3. Allow semantic checks for a custom event name structure (apart from the snake_case, camelCase, PascalCase etc.). We have a need for something like "text__text__text".
4. Admin users could have sudo ability for ease in reproducing any issues that other editors or viewers face.

**What problems is Avo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Faster to catch any violations in the events and properties. Slack alerting feature is great and has improved momentum on our tracking plan review process.

  ### 6. Move faster with confidence in your instrumentation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gunnar H. | CEO and Co-founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Avo?**

Avo is an excellent analytics tool that allows me to move quickly and confidently with our data. too often, discrepancies occur between event tracking on the web, iOS, and Android, but Avo eliminates that problem. Additionally, Avo is extremely helpful when kickstarting new product initiatives by ensuring that the right metrics are considered from the start.

**What do you dislike about Avo?**

The pricing for the service is on the high end, but it is worth the investment because of the time and effort it can save you and your team. Implementing event instrumetnation incorrectly costs way more so I'm a happy Avo user.

**What problems is Avo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Avo is helpful when kickstarting new product initiatives by ensuring that the right metrics are considered from the start. If your company doesn't include analytics from the get go, you should consider Avo.

  ### 7. Avo makes all the difference for Event Tracking Management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bayram K. | Data Lead, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 25, 2022

**What do you like best about Avo?**

The aspect of seamless collaboration with Product, Development and Data Teams. Avo provides clarity for the entire organization and solves a problem that exists for the entire Data industry.

**What do you dislike about Avo?**

Nothing at this point. Avo is fairly a new platform. As we continue using it, I'm sure there will be feature requests we're making. Right now the only thing I can think of is not being able to open a branch on top of an existing branch. I believe it's already on their radar to add this functionality though.

**Recommendations to others considering Avo:**

Avo is the only product that's solving Event Tracking Management today in the data industry (There might be others but they are not independent products, they are a part of a more comprehensive package). Avo has been an amazing addition to our Data Stack and I can't imagine going back to what we had before Avo (confluence pages and spreadsheets).

Avo's team is awesome as well! You get all the support you need from them!

**What problems is Avo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Avo removes the ambiguity of "what data is/ needs to be collected from the applications (Mobile & Web)" and "when this event is triggered". Avo makes it easy to create and stick to a naming convention, not create duplicate events/ properties etc.

Avo approaches event tracking from a perspective that many data teams haven't even thought about yet. Avo focuses on clarity and purpose of event tracking while providing an awesome UI for all teams to collaborate together.

  ### 8. Avo has Revolutionised our Data Culture

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicholas T. | Lead Product Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2022

**What do you like best about Avo?**

I don't know how product companies do any analytics without Avo. Avo solves all those fuzzy data governance and quality issues in exactly the way I'd want them to be solved. It's become the foundation of our analytics and we wouldn't be anywhere near where we are in data culture maturity without it. Not to mention their team is a joy to work with, you just want to see them succeed.

Buying Avo was possibly the most impactful decision I've made.

**What do you dislike about Avo?**

Being quite a new product (and problem space!) there's often some edge you might run into in the product. But, they're great at listening to feedback and are incredibly nimble in solving those as they come up.

**Recommendations to others considering Avo:**

If you do any event tracking (i.e. you have Segment, Rudderstack, Mixpanel, Amplitude etc) you should be using Avo. If you want to build a data culture at your business, you need to remove the friction in tracking high quality and consistent events from that growth loop. Avo does exactly that.

**What problems is Avo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Avo solves a whole ball of fuzzy data quality problems in one.
- It's allowed us to scale governance of event taxonomy from single gatekeepers to a more decentralised model. Prior to Avo only 1-2 analysts could make changes to the taxonomy and without branching, we could only manage a single change at a time. With Avo we have all our teams creating branches of changes that can be QA'd by the team.
- It also solves problems on the engineering side. The Avo developer tools have meant a drastic reduction in how long it takes our engineers to implement tracking and a huge increase in data quality.

Because of Avo we now have a culture of tracking consistent events everywhere that we can rely on.

  ### 9. Great product, greater support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juan Jose V. | Engineer Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 15, 2022

**What do you like best about Avo?**

The quick responses and personalized support. I also love the product itself. The UX feels natural, and the UI is responsive. No other competitors have all of the features that Avo has been building by hearing their users.

**What do you dislike about Avo?**

The downside is having to coordinate platform releases and branch merges. This coordination causes a lot of friction in the development process. One bad merge can break the whole codebase. But, this is necessary if you want the platforms to be in sync. Resolving conflicts is also challenging.

**What problems is Avo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps sync event names, properties and property types between sources or platforms. It also makes the development process a bit faster with the autogenerated functions. Also, it becomes the unique source of truth for the event taxonomy and it's a great documentation tool for your analytics

  ### 10. Goodbye Spreadsheets

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marina T. | Product Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Avo?**

A well-organised solution, Avo's tracking plan software allows our team to be on the same page when it comes to tracking analytics. Also, the structure in itself helps us frame conversations about what and how we want to track.

**What do you dislike about Avo?**

There's a bit of a learning curve (As with pretty much all software), and the branch management for multiple platforms on a single branch still has room to be improved. That said, the team is very reactive to customer feedback.

**What problems is Avo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Improve your company data/event tracking management from siloed confluence pages and spreadsheets to a single, united source of truth; which is easy to read and understand.

  ### 11. Avo saved my sanity when juggling our data tracking plans!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Claire A. | Director of Product Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 26, 2022

**What do you like best about Avo?**

With Avo, I really like the version control so no one steps on each others' toes. It's our single source of truth for all things data tracking. We're able to see violations in production as well as push these to other tools. I can easily collaborate with our developers to agree upon our specs and they can pull it into the code-base with a typesafe CLI, so I can trust I'll get the tracking I need on the first try.

**What do you dislike about Avo?**

It is a bit of a learning curve to get team members to understand all that Avo can do, but once they get it, they're hooked!

**What problems is Avo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No more messy, out of date spreadsheets. We're able to easily audit and improve our data tracking. We can now generate analytics within minutes of a new feature launch because of the pre-work we've done in Avo together as a team.

  ### 12. The best data governance platform for you analytics events

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tomi K. | Senior Data Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Avo?**

The user interface of Avo is easy to use and thoughtfully designed. It’s built in a way you can easily understand and jump in to get started. When it comes to updates and improvements to the platform, the Avo team is on top of it. As a customer, you regularly get emails with details on what’s new along with details on the update. One of the best parts of working with Avo is their availability. The Slack community is active and always has someone there to answer your questions. It goes a long way when you’re trying to figure out how to use the product. If don’t want to use the community, they also have great documentation which is updated regularly. Overall I’m very happy with the product and our data quality improves on a daily basis.

**What do you dislike about Avo?**

The only thing I can think of is that they are in a different timezone and located outside of the US. However, that being said, they’re responsive and have an account rep to help you in the US if you need immediate help.

**What problems is Avo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All of our analytics event tracking was done in a Google Sheet. This created many problems as our tagging needs scales. Not only was it difficult to maintain, but it was also hard to collaborate with data analysts and developers. Having everyone on one platform has made it easier to work on tagging plans and has also vastly improved the data quality.

  ### 13. I couldn't go back to event tracking without Avo

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lizzy C. | Product Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 26, 2022

**What do you like best about Avo?**

Avo provides an incredibly useful interface for designing and updating the schema (event names and properties) of events, which will eventually be analysed through another tool, Amplitude in our case. It also generates typesafe code for engineers to insert straight into the codebase, eliminating the possibility of spelling errors or missed properties. Before Avo, adding tracking with Amplitude Govern and the Amplitude SDK was a mess of spreadsheets, sticky notes, miscommunications, and fixing errors post-release. Now it's often as easy as sending an engineer a link to an Avo branch, and saying "go for it".

**What do you dislike about Avo?**

Avo is restricted to using Amplitude's public-facing API's, which means they don't have total freedom in what can be updated in the automatic sync. For example, the Avo sync can't update an event which has had the name manually changed in Amplitude (which is very common). This means we sometimes have to fiddle with both Avo and Amplitude at the same time, and then sometimes we just miss it completely. However, this wouldn't stop me from recommending Avo to every team who uses Amplitude for event tracking.

**What problems is Avo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

These notes are straight out of our business case for Avo:
The process for creating and updating events in Amplitude Govern is cumbersome and prone to error. The Amplitude projects for our development and production environments are curated independently, with copy-pasting between the two projects, and as a result of imperfection, the categories, events, and properties differ between the two projects. Requests for new events, or changes to existing events, are currently documented in spreadsheets or Miro boards, which involve double-entering and can result in lost information and confusion. The Amplitude SDK does not enforce the schema created in Govern. Nothing is stopping us from releasing events without mandatory properties, misspelling properties or even event names. Once the events are sent in production, the errors are eventually flagged by Amplitude, but it means engineering, PA, or both, need to make further changes to ensure they are tracked.

Avo effectively solves all of these problems.

The process to create new and update existing events is much easier, with a branching system similar to Git. All changes for a newly tracked feature can occur on a branch, allowing Product, Engineering, and PA to collaborate to find a neat solution before the changes are merged to production. Avo enforces the schema from the development side. It makes it impossible to push or release a change without including all mandatory properties. It eliminates the risk of misspelling event names or property names, or making other errors. Avo provides documentation about all changes in a branch, both in a PM-friendly format (that can be pasted in the comments on a Jira card), and a dev-friendly format (that can be accessed from the command line). This removes the need for double-entering into spreadsheets.

  ### 14. Governing the events based product stack

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jaryd Z. | Director, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Avo?**

The tool is easy and intuitive to use and the customer success team is heavily involved in helping you implement Avo successfully. They have good pre-onboarding / kick-off material and then become deeply involved with the implementation team to ensure a successful implementation.

**What do you dislike about Avo?**

The concept of event governance and its relationship to data quality and a tracking plan can be a hard concept to understand for the product team if they haven't encountered the problem before.

**What problems is Avo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Event and property governance and tracking plan management. Avo gives us a centralized tracking plan so that we can manage event and property governance activities across multiple stakeholders. It is also helping us ensure proper taxonomy and casing across multiple products so that we ideally have cleaner data when we eventually ingest the event data into our data wharehouse.

  ### 15. Once you adopt Avo, there's no going back! It's a game changer tool.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Siraj T. | Tech Lead - Frontend, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Avo?**

- Being able to view your tracking plan across all your platforms and features
- As a developer, Avo functions makes life so much easier
- Avo Inspector
- Branching

**What do you dislike about Avo?**

- Documentation can be improved, it covers the general cases. But when you have a complex integration you might need to reach support for assitance and for them to guide you.

**What problems is Avo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To me, it solves the overhead between developers and marketing team. Previously, developers had to worry about the tracking plan and implementation at the same time. With so many changes introduced (new, deleted, modifed events) developers lose track easily and marketing team have lose insight on what's being tracked. Avo tackles this perfectly! Collaboration, automated documentation, and implementation are just so seemless and work coherently across all domains and departments.

  ### 16. AVo/ Bitso

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ana Paula C. | Product Owner, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 28, 2022

**What do you like best about Avo?**

I think UI is great, I like the transparency that the product has, this allows every part of the team have visibility on changes, new events or events that may be deprecated but may also impact you or your team

**What do you dislike about Avo?**

I am learning, I am not a technical person, I work in product so sometimes I find difficult to use branches and merging is still confusing for me. Need to give it more time to try and continue learning

**What problems is Avo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Transparency on events and taxonomy, love the way you can create funnels and watch what other teamates are creating

  ### 17. Best tool to control, monitor and collaborate on your Tracking Plan!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David . | Product Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Avo?**

After doing a thorough market benchmark, our team landed upon Avo and soon realized its integral end-to-end value to help us gain control back of our tracking plan. Its branch based workflow, flexible pricing structure, permanent monitoring tools and vendor integration makes it the best tool around for data governance and collaboration.

**What do you dislike about Avo?**

The few quirks on the web app are frequently iterated and improved by a customer obsessive time at Avo. So nothing I have disliked has lasted for more than a couple of weeks!

**Recommendations to others considering Avo:**

The sooner you get started, the healthier your Tracking Plan will be!

**What problems is Avo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Avo helps us align between Product Tracking collaborators and follow best practices to define, monitor and control our data tracking instrumentation. Without it, our data warehouses would be mayhem with unreadable data and very difficult to navigate!

  ### 18. Avo is the collaborative control center for our event tracking workflow.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Avo?**

With Avo, event tracking is collaborative and well understood across teams and roles. It removes the failure points of a successful event tracking implementation, and among many benefits, Avo is a source of truth for events.

**What do you dislike about Avo?**

Onboarding and services could be expanded. It would be great to audit the implementation of of Functions and Inspector in every source we have in Avo.

**Recommendations to others considering Avo:**

Don't wait to start. It's a low effort proof of concept to put together, and you'll quickly realize the benefits of Avo compared to your existing work flow.

**What problems is Avo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Avo provides a significant increase in productivity for everyone involved in eventing: design, engineering, analytics, product. It also gives us assurance and trust in our data because events are well defined, maintained, and monitored.

  ### 19. Your sales are only as good as your event data quality

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James G. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2022

**What do you like best about Avo?**

Avo has helped us implement better analytics data, significantly faster. Optimizing and maintaining data quality is never easy because you don't always know where the problems are or you don't have the time to fix them. Avo not only surfaces the discrepancies in our implementation, but offers the tools to resolve them fast. Now that we can trust our event data, we can also trust the other tools in our stack.

**What do you dislike about Avo?**

Nothing so far, we think there is tremendous upside to what Avo offers and what they will continue to build.

**What problems is Avo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Consistent data quality around our events that fire from our product, website and other tooling. This event data is the beating heart of your sales motion.

  ### 20. Avoid Data Swamps in your Warehouse

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Avo?**

Uphold consistent data tracking plan naming and conventions, audit trail, code generation, Avo inspector and slack integration to warn of failing events

**What do you dislike about Avo?**

Only gripe is that for SSO you need to be on an enterprise plan

**Recommendations to others considering Avo:**

Do it, your warehouse will thank you for it

**What problems is Avo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Consistent and clear event analytics, end to end cohesion between front end development and data analyst

  ### 21. Like talking to colleagues

Is there anything to dislike about them?

**What problems is Avo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking governance. They're helping us keep control of our tracking plan as well as sharing their know-how with us

  ### 22. Just what we needed
