**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

Freeform modeling capability, easy to create organic shapes in Alias which is difficult in other parametric applications.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

There are a lot of tools that are not organized well. They can improve in the arrangement of tools and options which may reduce user confusion. For many years they follow the same UI. Also, should improve visualization (Rendering capabilities). So many crashes, especially while loading or working with heavy files.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

Best software for product design. Little difficult to learn because of a lot of tools and options here and there. But overall this is the best application used in the Automotive industry for external and internal automotive styling.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Automotive styling is easy with the help of Alias. It is used for both interior and exterior automotive styling. Also, it has an inbuilt visualization capability. It helps in freeform modeling. Creating a difficult shape is easy using Alias.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

too heavy, crashes/freezes often. UI could be made more user-friendly

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Lets cad conversion of multiple cad formats, also allows to repair incorrect surface description

  ### 3. The designer's tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** chapo m. | Interior designer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2019

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

This tool has very good features which makes designing work very interesting. Alias design is easy to use and it is also customizable. This software can be used in almost all fields. I also like this software because it can be intergrated with many other softwares thus making your work much easier.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

The customer service is not good and I come across bugs when using this software.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

This is the best design software that I have used and I recommend it to designers.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Designing and project management

  ### 4. The standard of a industry

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gabriel H. | Freelancer, Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2017

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

Alias is a very powerful tool for surface modelling , with very complex tools that are helping the user to achieve best quality in a very fast time.
Highly compatible with other design packages.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

For begginers is not very user friendly and as an Autodesk user it's a bit hard to switch from other Autodesk software to Alias as everything is different.
Hard to learn (first 6 months)
Not enough support for new users

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

Alias is essential in design industry, almost will guarantee you a job as long you have a good level of skills and a good eye for design and 3d modelling. Definitely is over most of other design packages on the market.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Provide Great 3d surfacing to my customers and having the possibility to easy import other file formats as various customers work with different packages, Alias is highly compatible . Most of the products I have designed , at one stage they were taken to Alias, so I can say, Alias is the place where the most automtive and product design is done.

  ### 5. The BEST technical surface modeler out there!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kenny C. | Technical Consultant, Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2017

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

Alias has been the standard for technical surfacing for decades. The name alone instills confidence, but using the software has been inspiring. With the powerful surfacing and sampling tools we have been able to design new products with ease as well as reverse engineer physical prototypes and other scanned data into very clean and tight models.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

The UI is a little antiquated, but the software remains powerful. If the pallets and toolboxes were of a more modern feel, the software would be easier to use (and the overall learning curve would not be as steep).

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

Try Alias SpeedForm as well - it is aimed at automotive designers, but the T-Splines functionality is amazing!

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Alias has allowed us to create stunning 3D models of our industrial design projects. When compared to other solutions, nothing can match the outright power and performance of Alias on technical surfacing. We used to spend days or weeks in other tools and we can achieve the same results in hours using Alias.

  ### 6. So strong, but not so stable

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pierre B. | Product Design Student, Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 21, 2017

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

This software is really powerful, lot of modeling possibilities and parameters.
The modeling quality is really advanced and precision is adjustable.
You can modelise geometry with curvature continuity in lot of differents ways.
It's easy to modify in details each surfaces, and adjust one to one them.
It's one of the most used software in car modeling.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

The software can crash at every moments, you need to spam the save shortcut often.
It is really hard to handle at the beginning, its ergonomy is awful and you will need to learn specific shorcut in order to built basic surfaces.
If you plan to print your model in 3D, you have lot of chance to find holes in your file, that will make some issues with 3D printing.
The CTRL+Z is not always available, and you have to think about backsave if you need to go back to change something.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

Be patient, and keep learning and stay curious. Try all functions ^^
This is awsome after few crashes, then you understand the mechanic, you will improve your skill faster

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I modelised some complex product where aesthetic and surface quality were important.

  ### 7. One of the best for Concept Creation and Surface Building for Industrial Designers

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

- Ability to go from sketch to surface in the same environment.
- Sketching on surfaces.
- I like its Diagnostic shading options. Gives a real good idea about how your surface quality.
- I also work with Rhino, but Alias is better and easier at continuity checking, intersecting, trimming/cutting works really well.
- I love it how they put a Transition Guide for Rhino users that shows equivalent tools and differences compared to Rhino.
- Transforminc CVs is a blast. Gives you great control and versatility over surface editing.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

- Alias Surface has "Explicit Control", Alias Design does not. have it. It gives you full control on number of CV and Spans while building the surface. So if you want to have Class A Surfaces, you need to have Alias Surface, which is way more expensive compared to surface. And Alias Surface is not as good at sketching as Alias Design: so Autodesk kind of forces you to make a decision if you need more surface quality. And you have to pay more for a minor difference for End-User.
- Transformng is really great with different mouse buttons designated to different axes. But transforming in Rhino gives more control on what to snap where. Sometimes in Alias, you have to guess.
- It needs a simple 'Shear' command like Rhino.
- We need more Filleting tyles like ICEM. 3-radius fillet, combination of chordal and radius control etc. Even Alias Surface does not offer that.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

If you want to have sketching and surface modeling in the same software, Alias Design is prefect for you.
If you are using Rhino or Solidworks but want to have better control and quality, choose Alias Design.
If you want to have Class A or something close to it, you should get Alias Surface instead, but you have to have a separate software for sketching.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it for creating concepts, building initial surfaces or sketch surfaces. I quickly sketch on graphics on my 3D surface and create lots of variations, very easily too. I sometimes open it and sketch on a canvas, then start building it in 3D in the same environment without going outside either for sketching or surfacing. But recently we had to favor Alias Surface because of its superior surface control and use Alias Sketch for initial sketching process.

  ### 8. Alias is an amazing program to work with for any automotive or product design 3D model project.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Darren M. | President, Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

I'm an automotive/product designer using this program for the past 8 years. Alias allows a great deal of freedom with the surfacing and the ability to create 'Class A surfaces'. There's multiple ways to create the same surface so as you begin to understand the tools you're able to create a surface in the specific way that will work best for your application. That could anything from creating surfaces to be used directly for tooling or molds, or transferring it to an engineer who may be the one completing the 'B-surfacing' of the project.

Compared to other CAD software it allows a larger degree of form making freedom where others have a lot of restrictions or 'rules' to follow. You could say it's the bridge between actual clay sculpting and the more mechanical technical modelling of programs like Solidworks or CATIA

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

It would be nice to have a few more tools that allow for precise techical modelling, but as Autodesk releases new versions these tools are becoming more available and refined.

Having the ability to create solids easier and transfer files to other software could be made more easy or accessible, but again Autodesk has taken many steps to making this happen.

There has yet to be a tool within the program that can change a mesh file into polygonal/nurbs surfaces. There are many work arounds to this, but having that tool would be helpful.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

Work through as many tutorials and lessons early on so that when you jump onto actual projects your time and work process is seamless.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm an automotive/product designer for the past 8 years and almost every project I'm involved in requires the organic, free form abilities of the Alias design/surface/autostudio tools. Where other software falls short in creating free form surfaces, Alias is built perfect for.

  ### 9. First option for Industrial design is Autodesk Alias

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mirko R. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 28, 2017

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

Innovative design features. Compatibility with other Autodesk products. High precision for 3D functions. Many interface options and tools. Best for NURBS surface modeling. Custom features for automotive design and

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

This program should have options as other Autodesk programs for users who need it maybe for one project for a few months. Rendering options could be more developed since Autodesk has it done in other products that are used for 3D.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

This is the best program for perfect industrial design for the last 25 years.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Industrial design. Creative design and surface 3D surface modeling. Surface testing and volume calculation of objects.

  ### 10. Alias Automotive

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mathias R. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

This 3D program easily creates accurate and precise surfaces. It can be used to create just about anything from a basic handle, to headphones to the exterior and interior of a vehicle. If you are learning this program or are curious to learn more advanced techniques Autodesk Alias has a YouTube channel that uploads videos abut every week. The videos cover speedform techniques and in-depth, complex modeling.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

The basic learning curve to start using the program is rather short, it is on the same level as with any new program. When you start to dive into more advanced, and complex forms it can get difficult if you are new to the program. There are many ways to complete one task, options are excellent but can become confusing.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

If you wish to get into Industrial Design, you should be using this program.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Alias can open many other file types, often I use it to import from other modeling programs to check scale, increase or decrease the object size and get it ready for 3D printing or machining. Also the surface rendering shows true highlights with class A surfaces which allows an accurate preview of the surface along with ways to manage and adjust the surface to get the best product out of the program. Once you have the real product out of the machine the hard work you put into perfecting the surface shows in your final product.

  ### 11. Alias is a good program, but just not for designers.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

Alias is a great program if you know exactly what it is you're trying to make. I'm reviewing from the stand point of a designer wanting to quickly iterated themes in 3D. At its core, Alias is a good program, there is a lot you can do with it and it allows you the ability to really refine details.

Once you've made it past the learning curve, Alias is actually a really great program. If you take advantage of keeping history you can update surfaces with relative ease. Just be aware that it is going to take you awhile to get to that point.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

Of all the programs that I've become proficient in(SolidWorks, Rhino, Alias, MODO, MAYA, and Some Fusion 360), Alias is by far the most unnecessarily difficult to use of them all. Navigation, selection, and interaction features all feel unnecessarily complicated. The programs interface seems to be very clunky at times as it seems like it forces you to do way more than is necessary to do things as simple as picking nothing.

The primary issue I have with this program is how long of a learning curve it has for the average user. I picked it up quicker than normal because I learn fast and I had a really awesome teacher. Without that though I can't imagine how long it would take for me to even begin to understand the program.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

If you're looking for a program that can aid you in the design and ideation process then get as far away from Alias as you possibly can. If you want a program that will model over automotive clay scans for production, go for it, but it won't be an easy process.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am approaching from a design and engineering standpoint, although more of an emphasis on design. As a designer I am creating a product that serves a need, whether that be an aesthetic or practical need. I see the this program will allow me to take finalized designs to a more refined and more "realistic" level.

  ### 12. Alias Software review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alexander N. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

The ability to quickly surface and define your design with relative ease. Compared to other CAD software's, creating simple to refined forms is a simple and intuitive process. Also the process of manipulating existing surfaces is easier than most other software's, giving the user more overall freedom while modeling.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

One main issue with the software is the difficulty in creating a sealed or trimmed model for the purpose of 3D printing. Others software's make this process a bit easier, and I feel that Alias can do the same with some updates the the software. The only other issue have with Alias is the process of adding filet's. Overall it works well but can be a bit cumbersome when getting into more difficult and complex surfacing.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

I recommend Alias as the leading software when it comes to design surfaces. This includes final modeling as well as rough modeling. Also this software is great for surface checking, for quality and overall curvature of aesthetic.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This software has definitely made the transition of 2D to 3D better for my use as a student and in the industry as well. The ability to model my 2D designs in such a short period of time is the greatest part of it. The software also has the flexibility to design in a rough state for the purpose of scale and proportion, as well as a very finely detailed state for the purpose of a finished product. Having that flexability is key to success with the work i do on a daily basis

  ### 13. No matter how much time you spend on alias its still less.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vipul M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

Modelling in alias is like solving a Sudoku puzzle but unlike Sudoku in alias there are many ways to solve or come up with a surface. Alias gives you a real time reflection and notifies you about the surface continuity as you keep on working so it reduces having errors on your final product. There are so many ways and options to discover in this software to get your desired result is exhausting, so in the end when you become quite familiar you can customize your shelf and your keys to your favorite options. The built-in visualization feature is pretty decent enough which gives you a good idea of your end product

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

Its not an easy software to learn and operate it right away for a beginner. you need time and patience to learn the software and have to be guided in the beginning. you wont get the desired surface in one step or a command, A desired surface is formed after creating necessary primary surfaces then move on to secondary surface and so on till you have achieved your result. That's this software makes you feel LIKE A PROFESSIONAL and sometimes leaves you FRUSTRATED as well.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

Have patience while learning

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am a industrial design student so I use this software to model cars and products. you become more patient and can solve surfaces easily which seemed difficult a few months ago and using other modelling software's become easy to operate.

  ### 14. Great for Accurate Surfacing

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gregory T. | Freelance Photographer, Photography, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

- Ability to model larger surfaces quite accurately
- The curves make for simple adjustments on the model.
- The ability to modify perspective
- The "Skin" tool, although a little rough sometimes, is a great tool for fast modelling

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

The tools could be more distinctly laid out. Although there is the capability to rearrange "favorites" on a separate bar, overall it seems to be a cluttered interface.

- There is no "best" way to model. There are infinite ways of getting everything build.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

It is similar to Rhino as well. Rhino is more simple to use, but like CATIA, it is better to be used to model smaller products. Compared to CATIA's Imagine and Shape, Alias takes more time, but again is more accurate and results are typically better.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use the software to sketch model both vehicles and industrial design products. We also use CATIA at our establishment and find that Alias is far better when dealing with larger surfaces and managing the highlights.

  ### 15. One of the best Nurbs modelling software I have come across.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joji A. | Digital Designer at 3DGS [ 3dPLM Global Services ] for 3DEXCITE, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

Alias gives really good surface quality and control over curves and surfaces. This helps achieve proper reflections and highlight through continuity.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

Corner solving is a bit tricky in Alias however the challenges helps you make sure your surfaces are of high quality. So does the filleting when the relative size is small.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

This is one of the best Softwares in the market for automotive design & Styling (surfacing). Alias is used by almost all Automotive Companies as well as a huge number of Modelling studios and product design studios. Once you are trained on Alias, you will be able to achieve world class standards. I have used both professional version at my work place as well as student version back home as I was pursuing my college specializing in Digital Design.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used this software as an Industrial Design student specializing in Digital Design and also during my Alias modelling internship at one of the prestigious Automotive design studios in Germany well known for Alias Modelling. The quality of models made in Alias is almost unparalleled.

  ### 16. Alias: Design approach

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Claudio M. | Director Advance Design Center, Higher Education, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

The fact that you can achieve quality surfaces with many construction ways and solutions. For educational purpose give the students full understanding of what surfaces are and the boundary conditions to work for real products.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

The situations to understand which tool can give you the right path. sometimes you need "a lot" of expertise to achieve a goal though so many combinations of tools; and of course you cannot find that neither on video tutorials or forums. A big problem for alias is that students shift very easy to other software because the hours needed to achieve a good level of mastering.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

Designers who are willing to improve aesthetics with full control of class-A surfaces. This software enhance the use of theoretical lines, curves and at the end surfaces that nowadays design standards are looking for. The possibilities are endless: a vivid example is the new ROBORACE from Daniel Simon as chief designer for the FIA most ambitious project: car racing with full size machines.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm into educational learning.
Benefits are related to help students to see different aspects of the design process

  ### 17. A great software for advanced surface modelling

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Arthur B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

Great array of tools for curvature continuity and complex surface modelling with some decent dynamic control features.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

The layer system is somewhat limited to project sizes and a bit confusing/slow to work with, when compared to traditional CAD aplications (Autocad, Rhino).
Closing some surface parts and sectioning a whole model/region to split it into continuous curvature surfaces (spam-free) is sometimes hard to achieve without the use of spans or advanced user tweaks.
When using fillets or other pre-set blending tools there are a lot of manually-correctable issues, usually with sorting out edges and object enclosure. Manually fixing things is boring and not time-effective, and this happens more than usual even for a well-thought spam-free 3D model.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

If you think about how designers need to adapt to available tools in the market, it doesn't make sense to start a business whereas each 3D modelling software enables you with barely a portion of your project needs.
Projects have development stages and they often go through different platforms/softwares depending on their technical/aesthetical need. For the single-user or self employed consultant this means they must choose a budget-path (lets say they could pay for just 1 software) that will likely not be enough to supply their actual software needs for a hollistic project/business presentation, all the way through to implementation.

  ### 18. A software that allows a very systematic approach to creating a 3D model with qualitative surfacing

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ujwal I. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

As an industrial designer its always necessary for us to understand the volume of the product no matter how complex the shape of the product would be.The software gives complete freedom in creating organic and finely developed surfaces. The ability to correct the surfaces and forms multiple times, allows us to experiment an d sketch the product/model in 3D giving us a visual understanding of the volume.
Its workability around hard shapes if very flexible and if the user is trained well - it can give quick visual results for immediate feedback and alterations. The addition of customization plays a big role when working quickly - bringing up new tools and various controls into action without delaying to open multiple menus so as to work in a very efficient manner.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

There is always a strong negative impact on the process of learning the software, on how it works and reacts to commands given. There are always small hindrances when the model is to be exported into other type of files. There is not much compatibility with the current trends of 3D printing- when we compare it with softwares like Autodesk Fusion.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

A good software to get precise surfaces- right from fillets to large curved surfaces. The ability to use it to complete a wide range of shapes and structures on various fields from automobiles to small electronic products.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

none

  ### 19. The first modeling software I started with and no other software has been able to beat the quality!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Soumitra S. | Junior Lighting Artist, Media Production, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 17, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

Alias is precise. What I like most is it shows me the clarity and cleanliness of my constructed surfaces with basic shaders provided. Of course there are evalutors like many other softwares which are also provided but the needed display as you start right from concept modeling is what drives me to use this software.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

I do not like the flexibility when I go about creating something during the concept phase. Some surfaces take time to built in the way they are intended to be.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

Definitely a great software for the design, especially the automotive design industry. I would say its mandatory for a digital designer to have knowledge about this software.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used this product during my university and my internships. The key benefits are the construction quality and about its wide industry usage. It also has good cross platform working capabilities.

  ### 20. Looking in to a mirror

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Salvador R. | Project manager transportation designer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

I like it´s cleanest interface and result when you apply shades to check surface continuity.
I also like the easy way to make your own set of hotkeys

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

I dislike the errors when you auto-trim t using tools like "filling flange tool" or "surface filling tool"
I don´t like the price tag that keep many users away

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

For quality surface modeling and design is the top choice for sure, if you are proficient with other surface software like Rhinzeros, it is going to be and easy transition to Alias, you are going to feel like stepping on another "league", the top one.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I love that it´s not a rigid program, I mean it´s easy to modify and change quickly anything without much caos with the rest of the model. So that being said it´s a perfect program to translate to 3D a 2D concept

  ### 21. I enjoy this product so much, I'm making it my career.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kyle K. | Student, Higher Education, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

For me its the overall appearance of the program, it's not overwhelming. It feels inviting and intuitive to use compared to other CAD software I've used.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

Some of the tools feel very outdated. I would like to see an auto save feature that works better then Msave. Possible a cloud based saving system.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

This product can be taught to a beginner modeler with ease, and within a very short time they can be modeling very high level surfacing.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am currently a student using the software for my own design projects. I've modeled Interior and exterior car models. Along with several small parts that I've 3D printed for physical models. The benefits are the speed in which I can get my ideas from my head to a 3D digital model that I then can render and animate.

  ### 22. CRISP SURFACING AND BEST SURFACE DESIGN SOFTWARE

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kunal S. | Motorcycle Digital Designer, Automotive, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

The freedom of creating surfaces/manipulating the surfaces. ease of tools, technical's and everything else.
The surface quality and precise modelling makes it even more fun!
lastly the completely customizable UI.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

bugs! sometimes, crashes, and few other tool issues, nothing else

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

For surfacing and excellent 3d, alias is something which is a must. The power of these tools is just amazing. The way they handle and the way alias allows you to create things is off the roof. Alias design for me specially has been an amazing experience, today I'm in progress to specialise the software, and I connect to this software at a very personal level.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm a surface designer, so creating 3d surface models and resolving concept sketches, i have realized how tools like alias design are so important to visualize one's imagination in real life.

  ### 23. Best software for aesthetically designed products.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sarwar S. | Freelancer, Design, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 20, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

The customization of tools is the best thing i like. When two users share the same system, they can use their own customized preferences having shortcuts, palette, shelves, marking menus, etc.

Also I like the freedom of playing with the surfaces, does not matter how complex it is. It gives the feel of sculpture. The best feature of this software which distinguishes it with others is its ability to produce class A surfaces.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

there are two things which I dislike:
1. It does not UNDO the process sometimes.
2. The software crashes, but thanks to 2016 version, it saves the crashed file. Earlier versions were not reliable for saving the crash files.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

I would like to recommend this software to all the concept designers.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I normally use it for concept designing and sometimes for production level.

  ### 24. Learn and enjoy

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maxime P. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 09, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

One of the thing that I like the most about this software is the precision. You can get a really accurate modeling based upon your design. With our without canvases it allows to set and adjust the lines' tension and get a very stiff 3D model. Either if it is only to build curves or create a hard 3D model with surfaces the software is quite easy to handle as soon as you've learn the basic tools.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

Maybe for me one's of its quality is also one of it's inconvenient: the stiffness. I am not a digital modeler and far from being a professional but, I am using this software for around 3years now and as an automotive designer sometimes I wish to be able to explore a bit more. As everything is build around curves it limits the possible explorations on surfaces.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

First to use this product I would recommand to learn the basic tools and how to use it. Figured it out what you are looking for in this product, in which way it will help you get what you want and what result do you wish to get. As soon as these questions get an answer learn how to use it and get into it! You will face issues at first and learn how to solve them, you will need to get yourself to this software and discover your own way of using it to be the most efficient for your process.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Basically this software permits me to validate proportions and set the design upon the package. It permits to build and validate details as well as global volumes. It permits also to adjust lines and make tiny changes on the design that will led to a way better appreciation of the product. It is also a time saving tool that could be use in the creative process, build global forms, switch to another software and made the design evolves with back and forth. It is a really efficient product

  ### 25. Designing with Alias

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

As a design student, Alias is a very useful tool that I use on a daily basis. Before using Alias, the only other CAD software I had experience with was Catia. Now, having used both, I prefer using Alias. It is a very good tool because you can place curves in any dimension, and build quick surfaces. This allows me to quickly explore a design and how it looks/works in 3D.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

Alias is great for quick modeling, but the only thing that I would like to see is the ability to make exact measurements for objects, so that models can be more precise.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

Comparing it to Catia, Alias is much better because of its ease of use. The ability to get forms out quickly is much more attainable in Alias, this is largely to do with the fact that curves are able to manipulated into any direction. Compared to Catia where you are forced to sketch in one Isometric view and build from that.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In the field of design, only so much can be expressed through sketches. Alias allows you to showcase things that cannot be shown in a sketch. Not only this but models can then be animated to show off certain functions of the vehicle. Alias benefits every aspect of what I do as a designer, from being able to print 3D models of my designs, to sketching over them to get my proportions right. Alias is an amazing tool that has helped me grow as a designer.

  ### 26. A University Student's Experience Learning and Utilizing Autodesk Alias 2014, 2015, and 2016

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

What I like best about Alias is the surface control that it offers the user. I have used other software, such as CATIA V6 which requires working in multiple workbenches to try to get the same level of surface manipulation that Alias offers outright. Alias has great CV manipulation capabilities and in allowing the user to build and rebuild surfaces using a variety of different tools (i.e. skins, squares, rails, etc) it makes it possible to quickly mock up surfaces for a rough model, and also to build rather quickly with great precision and surface quality.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

What I dislike about Alias is its consistent need for history deletion to prevent a working curve or surface from failing on the user. It would be nice if the software was a bit more capable with handling history, especially when it comes to trying to work with blend curves with history, which in my experience has typically resulted in a curve failing.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

I would recommend Alias Design to just about all Industrial and Transportation Designers. Alias is a great tool for taking your 2D sketches and thoughts, and bringing them a significant step closer to reality. It is quick to pick up on, and easy to use. There is a large variety of lessons and help available online, most of it through Autodesk. The Alias support through Autodesk is also great at responding quickly and efficiently to assist you with your concerns.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Alias in my university classes. I am in school looking to end up in the Automotive industry, in which a significant amount of companies rely on Alias for their most important 3D modeling. In class we use Alias to build A-Surfaces of vehicle exteriors, and interiors. My experience with Alias has been great, OEM's cannot seem to get enough of skilled Alias modelers.

  ### 27. Alias, a surfacing 3D software for the perfection.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

I really appreciate the final result of a well done model, the way the surfaces are put together and flow from each to another. I like the interface as well: very clear, direct and quite intuitive, it is also very comfortable to use. To be able to tune the interface like you want is very convenient: you can build it following your needs rather you are more into surface sketching (a designer, for example) or more into precise construction (modelers). Basically, everything is done to be able to make flow surfaces between them: the final result is mind-blowing if you are a good modeler.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

I don’t like the complexity in the way how to construct an object. For every surface, you would have 12 ways to do it, but just one leads to what you want. The problem is you don’t know which way is the right one, so you build 12 times the same surface in 12 different ways until you think is what you need. It is also important to say that you need time to manage the software. Easy going for the very first shot, you will be able to build something very quickly even if you are a beginner but then, when you need to reach a good quality, or even harder, a production ready quality: this start to be really though and you will take days to complete a model. The worst are the radius: for each corner, you would need a radius for a nice render or for a correct ready production model: those are really painful to complete. The software crashes a lot (for me, every 2-3 hours). Fortunately, it has a recovering system that works 3 times on 4, more or less. But be ready to be pissed if you are not a heavy saver.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

I would try first and maybe use it in addition to other software like Maya. First: build a quick model on Maya then switch to Alias for a better quality / control.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I’m mostly saving time. I can reach a good model level then switch on rendering software (Vred for example) to build some nice pictures to sell my ideas to my clients (or chef) instead of spending days on Photoshop and anyway have a single picture to show at the end. I can also solve design problem in trying first on Alias then go on a 1:1 scale model. I also can speak directly to professional modelers through to software in sharing the files: The modeler asks me what I need in a certain corner, so instead of explaining this by e- mail, phone or in a meeting, I directly sketch some surface to show him what I want. We save time, money and keep good relations.

  ### 28. Advanced tool, hard to get into it

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bianca B. | Freelance Graphic & UI/UX Designer, Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

If you learn Alias Design from scratch like I did in technical college, it's the best software to get difficult surfaces right ('Class A surfaces') and to build up objects pretty quick. I love the 3key shortcuts menus via the mouse to get commands done easily. It's a very precise tool which I love, especially for objects that have to be manufactured.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

For a beginner or designer it's definitely not the easiest tool to get into. There are plenty others like Rhino or Maya, Solidworks,..) that give you a quicker and easier start in 3D Modeling.
Auto Filleting doesn't work really good, so most of the time, to get the right surface you have to build it on your own to get it nicely done.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

If you need to make precise surfaces e.g. for manufacturing and you are a bit advanced in modeling, I would recommend Alias Design. If not, I would recommend an easier alternative!

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am an Industrial Designer and learned Alias back in technical college. I build objects for manufacturing, but most of the time just for visualization reasons.

  ### 29. Great software if you know how it works

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luis A. | Industrial Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

It has a great surface quality with a variety of tools to combine surface and apply continuity between them. During the last years Alias has been adding new detail tools which make the the process of detailing the model easier and faster. Its easy and fast to use when you know the software well.
Love the way it contains a history on surfaces that updates when changes are made.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

In times you need to create more surfaces than needed to do a simple exact form. Round and fillet tools should improve as in times it causes rounds your not looking for.
The price of license keeps people away from software.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

It´s a great software to use, with same and extra features as other modelling software, whatsoever learning how to use it and why some surface errors occur take time and a lot of learning

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As an industrial designer it helps me design products by giving a clear view of the surface and review for any change needed.

  ### 30. Alias Design Review - Dillon Kane

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dillon K. | Transportation Design Student, Higher Education, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

Alias offers a different experience to other CAD software that I have experienced. Alias, due to it's 3D curve building ability is more in tune with the way people who work in the design field often think. Other software seem more intent on math and dimension as a focus, rather than design and shape. Alias beautifully blends both in a way that engineers and designers alike can understand.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

Alias has few drawbacks. Aesthetically, alias could use an update, but that is not nearly as important as how it functions. Alias could also use improvement in the area of filleting edges, especially without creating such heavy surfaces.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

As opposed to other software, Alias is the best option for design work, as well as translating ideas into a three dimensional reality.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a transportation design student, and aspiring automotive designer, Alias has allowed me personally to better understand 3D shapes and perspectives, and has allowed instructors and potential employers to more fully understand the design conveyed.

  ### 31. Its been 7 years of Alias experience and believe this softwares has eveolved alot to make good model

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Divyanshu M. | Team Coordinator, Design, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

Strongest point from Alias is History. This really helps you to make Design models. you can keep on chainging as much as you like and history helps you to contect all your surfaces back.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

CV management and Software crash. Just becuase this software carries history or our model progress real time running gets higher and leads to crash. Als few bugs with every new verison.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

As per my experience if you working on product design or CAS design for Automotive. alias is really a nice tool to use. But if you are looking for A class modelling i prefer other software.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It really help me to make CAS models quick and nice. When you designing any Car or Product you need to keep changing curves, lines and profile. If you can maintain History in you model. Changes are easy comparing to any other software.

  ### 32. Complex interface and learning curve, but extremely powerful modeler.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

Extremely powerful tool for creating accurate, automotive-quality surfacing and models. There are a few tools for drawing which I prefer over Photoshop, although I largely use Alias for modeling only.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

Difficult learning curve, difficult to create quick iterations or changes versus other software, outdated UI, and spotty compatibility with Mac OSX (No compatibility issues with Windows). Rendering images within Alias is virtually useless for anything more than quick evaluation.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

Alias is best for creating products which need perfect, accurate, automotive-level surfacing. It is likely not the best option for quick models or for modeling products where advanced surfacing or highlighting is needed.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This is the leading software used for automotive surface modeling. Highlighting and evaluating surfaces is better with Alias than any other modeler I've used.

  ### 33. Excellent software for A surface creation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 30, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

Since Alias was purchased by Autodesk, it fits nicely into their product development suite of tools as a preliminary surface modelling tool.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

The learning curve is steep. However, there are many tutorials available.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

Work with someone who is an expert at using Alias.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving the challenge of creating physical designs with appealing looks. Alias creates curves with an attractive tension, vs. doing industrial design with a CAD tool like Inventor.

  ### 34. My Alias experience

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

Alias is definitely good for creating accurate surfaces. A plus is that it is compatible with many milling machines. The software is also still used by many automotive companies.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

The interface is not user friendly. Simple surface development can be too much to ask of alias, while in other programs it is many times easier. Workflow is very mechanical and does not encourage creativity. Modelling progress is generally slow. Updating and changing models is difficult and inconvenient.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

I recommend Alias for users with surface modeling experience or engineering goals. Modelers looking for creative solutions and user friendliness should look elsewhere.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problem that is being solved is whether or not Alias is fit to be in the design industry anymore. The realization is that many other programs are overtaking it.

  ### 35. Alias

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew H. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

3d curves. Clean and quality surfaces. Great for mocking things up. The marking venues are really easy to access

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

User interface is very dated. The software is some what complicated. It crashes a lot when using variable fillets.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

i would recommend alias design to all automotive and industrial designers. It is a great tool to put your ideas and thoughts into 3D

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a student i use Alias for building my design concepts. i mostly model exteriors and interiors.

  ### 36. An amazing software for creating organic surfaces

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pravin G. | Product Design Intern, Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

The quality of Surfaces that are generated are very good. Handling the organic curves or bspline curves is easy. Also very important is it gives very good measuring techniques for surface continuity.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

The interface is quite hard to understand or get used to while you are learning software. But after a couple of practice I got used to it.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

Interactive interface.
Discount on license for startups

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am a Design Student from MAEER's MIT, Institute of Design.

  ### 37. Powerful creation software with a steep learning curve.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

Curve control and the ability to refine an object that could exist in real life. Alias is a powerful tool in comparison to other 3D creation tools. I've used many others, Rhino, Solidworks, etc. and Alias has been the one piece of software that most closely allows me to create real prototypes almost instantaneously. Bezier controls and sweeps are powerful refinement options.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

The learning curve is very steep. I studied it for a full quarter while in school and had just cracked the surface of the power in the product. Compared to other softwares, Alias isn't the easiest to use right out of the box, but once it's learned it is a powerful and unique software.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

Fully immerse yourself in learning the software before you try and implement it. It will require a certain amount of expertise before you can fully use it to its potential.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With the rise of 3D printing and accessibility to such, I've been able to model prototypes that I can instantly have at my desk for further refinement. This has allowed faster turnaround in my product development. In an industry where time is money, this has allowed me to drop my bottom line and get my ideas in a solid form more quickly. I've been able to think in Alias in a 3D space and see my ideas come to life quickly and with real life production issues that might arise that I can take care of before it hits the factory.

  ### 38. Student in automotive design

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Sports | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

That's I like the best on Alias is the capacity to create specific shape, very close to my key sketch.
It's for me the best sofware in term of refinement and that give me a specific tool for design thank's to a new way !

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

For me the big problem in alias is the complexity of fonctions, there are too much constraints in the construction of a product. This software need to be control only by expert...

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As I'm a student I have still not had much business problem, but alias allows to make productions ready to be printed and in my Job it's a great Point to should improve and facilitate.

  ### 39. Alias Design Review from an exterior car designer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Giuseppe C. | Exterior designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

After few year of experience I can say that Alias Design is the best software to start building your own model and let your brain understand if your ideas are good or not.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

The only problem of Alias Design is the versatility. You can not control all the surfaces you create like Alias Surface or Automotive. I personally suggest to use Alias surface.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm a car designer and Alias helped me a lot to manage all the problems you can find in a development process of a car. Starting from the style and finishing with the relation between stylistic and engineering parts.

  ### 40. Complete but complex software

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

I like the fact that this is allow to built accurate and good quality surfaces. I also quite like the interface with the pop up menu and shortcut

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

You have to build everything perfectly, and it is not easy to to experimentation and iterations. It does not allow to be very creative. Plus it takes a lot of time to build something. Also the license is super expensive compare to other softwares, so a lot of companies don't have this software anymore and it become less useful to know how to use it.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have built clean 3D easy to export and to do qualitative renders

  ### 41. Learn NURBS surface modeling

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** thomas b. | Motion Design, Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

The viewport, the surfaces visualization, the perfect control of each CV of all surfaces, the advanced control of each functions, the real-time.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

The shortcut (Ctrl+Alt+Maj!!!) is limited to final work, except some minor projects where it is very difficult to start the design thinking on Alias. It would be good to integrate another way of modeling, like Polygonal Modeling or Subdivision surfaces, to explore shapes more easily.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

You need to be an expert on this software to utilize its potential, compared to Rhinoceros 3D.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Perfect for complex surface junction.
You can achieve what you can't do properly in Rhinoceros 3D.

  ### 42. This software is helpful to bring 2 d sketch to 3d

The ability to very quickly and acurately ideate proportions and themese for my vehicle designs.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

How difficult and time consuming it can be to create A- class surfacing over a vehicle. I am sometimes bothered bytge lack of undo history.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

A background in 3-D modeling would be very beneficial otherwise you really have to start from the basics

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am able to quickly design new vehicles with the software. I benefit directly from aliases precision and rendering accuracy it is a great tool for communicating within the design and engineering teams

  ### 44. Complete software for advanced 3D

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

Alias is perfect if you want to model perfect 3D. It is super précise, once you know the software perfectly you can do what you want with it.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

It is made for modelers only. The software is so complicated that getting use to it is really hard. Just for a round corner you have dozens of options... And the shortcuts for just moving into the environnement are super complicated.
Last but not least, the software crashes A LOT !

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I Struggled to learn it and I'm still learning.
But once I'll know it I could do every shape possible !

  ### 45. Alias design review

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cameron B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

The capabilities within the software to make anything you want! It's very powerful and has a lot of potential.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

The lack of feedback on why things don't work when they don't work. The software was hard to learn, especially when most of the learning was on my own.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

Learn the fundamentals well before using the software for more complex things.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm a school student so most of the benefits come as flexibility in using the software for anything I want to make.

  ### 46. Precise and excellent software to use

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

It allows the user full control of surface. Even the smallest detail can be done using alias design.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

The complexity of the software. Learning it takes a while and mastering it takes even more time.

**Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Alias:**

It is not a simple tool to use. If done correctly, it can be a very powerful tool.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Compared to other 3d software out there, I find alias is the only software that allows the user full control of everything. Including complex surface/shapes.

  ### 47. Hood control, tough tools.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2016

**What do you like best about Autodesk Alias?**

I highly appreciate the ability to carefully control and refine complex NURBS surfaces. The program is almost unparalleled when it comes to hyper refined curves and class A surfacing.

**What do you dislike about Autodesk Alias?**

The learning curve is huge, it feels extremely unintuitive, and it is a low reliability program, and I believe that if that each tool could just do what it said it could without crashing, Alias would be a stellar program.

**What problems is Autodesk Alias solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Exterior Automotive design, with complex curvature, with highly finessed and controlled surfacing.

  ### 48. Alias Design review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars
