**What do you like best about Astrato?**

Astrato redefines what cloud-native Business Intelligence should look like. What sets it apart from any other BI tool I've worked with is its true direct query capability against Databricks: not a cached approximation, not a scheduled refresh, but real-time pushdown processing that leverages the full computational power of your Databricks clusters. This is a fundamental architectural difference that changes everything.
I have been working in n near-real-time (NRT) data projects, where this approach is invaluable. When your data is moving fast, you cannot afford the stale snapshots that traditional BI tools rely on. Astrato lets you query your Gold layer directly, meaning the intelligence sits where your data sits, in Databricks.
The fact that it is built cloud-native from the ground up is also a huge differentiator. There's no legacy baggage, no on-premise DNA that was awkwardly adapted to the cloud. It was designed for modern data architectures like the Lakehouse and medallion patterns, and it shows in every interaction.

**What do you dislike about Astrato?**

Being a newer tool, the documentation doesn't always cover the more advanced use cases, and the community is still small compared to the big players. You do end up having to reach out to their support more than you would with a mature product. The flip side is that their support team is actually really responsive, they get back to you quickly and with proper answers, not just generic troubleshooting steps. So it's a limitation that in practice hasn't caused us major headaches.

**What problems is Astrato solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The core problem it solves for us is simple: our data lives in Databricks, and we needed business users to access it without us building and maintaining a whole separate layer in between. Every other tool we evaluated forced us to either duplicate data or accept latency we couldn't afford.
Astrato just connects directly and lets Databricks do what it's good at. The result is dashboards that are always current, infrastructure that stays simple, and a much shorter path from raw data to business insight. It's genuinely made our architecture cleaner and our stakeholders happier.
It's an early-stage product, but the direction is right and the core capability is already there. If you're working with Databricks seriously, it's worth a close look.

**What do you like best about Astrato?**

Very flexible tool with a lot of potential to create new tools beyond simple dashboards. Application customization opens the possibility of building different types of data application allowing a new type of interactive analytics. Semantic layers are always useful and powerful in most cases. The team behind it is always available to help and improve the product as well as being very capable.

**What do you dislike about Astrato?**

Like all new software, it has small bugs and missing features (at least for Databricks), but the team makes an effort to build faster and fix any problem. This problem will be solved with more customers and the natural maturity of the tool.
Extreme customization comes at a price, which is the increase in time it takes to create a dashboard.

**What problems is Astrato solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Implementation of a new financial tool with input table capabilities, dynamic calculations, reporting, and workflow for user assignment and permissions. All this was previously done manually with Excel files where the risk of loss of information and long creation time was constant.

**What do you like best about Astrato?**

The tool provides additional flexibility when sharing data with business users, allowing them to access more data on a regular basis and without the restrictions of going via a data team.
It's also been really helpful to work with the team at Astrato, who are able to support on best practice and help us to use the tool better. Hands on workshops have been very helpful

**What do you dislike about Astrato?**

As a new tool, Astrato can sometimes be quite "buggy", impacting use and making things harder to release. While the team are receptive and often try to fix things quickly, it impacts data team reputation. While fully appreciating Astrato is still relatively new, it's not something I have ever experienced with established tools such as Tableau or Looker.
Alongside bugs, again as the tool is still being developed, you'll sometimes find it more difficult to do something than in an established tool, but it's great that the team are willing to add to their backlog.
Astrato has been sold as a no code app, which is great for accessibility, however as a coder, and manager of a team of coders, sometimes it's quicker and easier to code something rather than lots of drop and drag and clicking.
Also ctrl-Z doesn't work to undo things

**What problems is Astrato solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's allowing us to make additional data available to business users in a safe and secure environment, providing guardrails so end users don't mis-interpret data. While we can still create some pre-canned visualisations that show what the user needs 90% of the time, the functionality to add access to the data helps to minimise the additional adhoc questions.

At time, the platform can feel a bit buggy, and certain features may not always work as expected. Dynamic analytics dashboards that comfortably reach data-application levels of functionality. Exceptional customer support, fast UI performance, and straightforward integration with data warehouses. Easy to scale users and permissions. Flexible enough to start simple while supporting deeper technical workflows.

**What do you dislike about Astrato?**

There are aspects of design controls which are yet to be perfected, so the aesthetic design experience can be a bit clunky. Whilst the environment is low code it still requires robust analyst / engineering / data modelling experience to get high quality products built.

**What problems is Astrato solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Astrato lets me build advanced data products / data apps quickly and at a very low cost. It means I can sell analytics to markets that don’t traditionally have the budget or resources to invest in dedicated analytics products.  Astrato's customer support has been exceptional and enabled the quality of my builds to accelerate rapidly.

Pixel-perfect visualizations that consistently impress our executive team. The write-back and action features are highly valued, and it’s very intuitive to build advanced data apps for both technical and non-technical users. Team is great and the support is unheard of - feels like my questions are answered instantly. The scheduled reporting and alerting features are also fantastic. Astrato solves many of my problems at a very competitive price.

The support from the Astrato team has been excellent, they are always around to answer a query or help you when creating a workbook or using the visual code builder in the application. The AI suggestions are very useful when it comes to creating semantic layers as well as the chatbot when trying to create actions. It performs well and has integrated well with databricks.

Sometimes it can be a bit frustrating using the workbook builder but all of our enquiries about ux and ui changes have always been heard and addressed

**What do you like best about Astrato?**

I use Astrato as a BI solution for dashboarding with multiple clients migrating from obsolete technologies to a modern stack. I find Astrato to be a no-code, fast, and intuitive solution that doesn't require a big technical background, allowing my team to implement BI solutions easily. The thing I like the most is its modern solution for dashboarding, which everyone can use with little to no technical background. This opens up opportunities for professionals outside of the IT world, like those in marketing or human resources, to develop and deliver solid solutions without learning a programming language. I also appreciate its various integrations with data warehousing technologies, which make Astrato applicable to multiple clients regardless of the data warehouse technology they use. This provides a common platform for non-technical users to manipulate data, understand it, and derive valuable insights. It's very easy to set up Astrato, and we've noticed a huge productivity enhancement as non-technical users with deep business knowledge can better understand their data and extract valuable insights.

**What do you dislike about Astrato?**

I think that its major advantage is also a small disadvantage in the sense that it is very intuitive and easy to implement solutions but when you work with very big tables or complicate models I would like to have more control over the queries that Astrato launches against the warehouse. For example, in many cases we have bi-directional relationships in the data model and it is a bit complicated to make Astrato make the right choice creating the queries when this situation happens without changing the data model that consumes.

**What problems is Astrato solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Astrato to migrate clients from obsolete technologies, and it lets non-technical users implement BI solutions quickly. Its no-code, intuitive interface enhances productivity and understanding of data, making it invaluable for extracting insights.

The no-code environment means we can meet constantly changing customer requirements without long development cycles. Whitelabeling and embedding are seamless, so our clients experience analytics as part of our platform. And the visuals are stunning—interactive dashboards that actually elevate our product experience.

The product is still evolving, so there are areas of the self-service UI that could be more intuitive. But we’ve seen continuous improvements, and the support from the Astrato team has been world-class.

Its high versatility makes it well suited for handling complex tasks.

I appreciate the resource savings from sending queries directly to the database, without needing to store information in an intermediate layer. On top of that, the way it lets you build entire projects feels intuitive, using simple yet highly generalizable concepts like actions and variables.

There are some small bugs, understandable for a relatively new BI tool.

Also the way to collaborate several individuals on the same project could be improved.

Honestly, we haven’t encountered any major drawbacks so far — the platform has met our expectations both technically and from a usability perspective.

Astrato provides a feature rich tool kit that is easy to use for even the novice user.  The ease of implementation and integration to our Snowflake platform allowed us to go from design to a fully operation SaaS platform within 60 days.  The customer service has been tremendous and substantially reduced our learning curve.  Astrato's competitive pricing provides an extreme value for a product we and our clients use everyday.

We have been a customer of Astrato for 3 years and to date have been pleased with the product performance and the customer service.

With a small 3 person shop, minimal technical expertise and an extremely limited budget, Astrato's sophisticated yet easy to use platform has allowed us to build a commercial SaaS application within 60 days, which we would have never been able to accomplish with the other BI tools we attempted at the beginning.  Astrato allowed us to create a SaaS application and not just provide a standard BI tool to our customers.

I use Astrato to create dashboards for analyzing and presenting findings on loyalty propositions, which provide powerful visuals and interactions for my stakeholders. I love that Astrato eliminates the need to manually create and re-create reports, allowing me to interact with data with few limitations without being slowed down by functionality. I appreciate that the staff at Astrato are incredibly helpful and always strive to help us achieve our use cases. They are constantly making it easier to develop insights quickly, which is invaluable. The range of visualization options and the ability to handle complex and custom use cases are phenomenal. I am happy with my usage and relationship with Astrato, and I can seamlessly integrate it with tools like Snowflake and SQLMesh. Despite the initial learning curve, I find Astrato to be an excellent choice, which is why I rate it a 10 out of 10 for recommendation.

Additionally, it would be helpful if I could download existing dashboards to my computer to make offline changes and then republish them to the server. The absence of the ability to work on dashboards offline is also a drawback, as it restricts my flexibility to work in environments without internet access.

When an object is deleted or an action breaks, it's difficult to find the associated actions. It labels them as missing but perhaps changing the color of broken actions.

What I appreciate most about Astrato is the combination of outstanding support and a product that manages to be both powerful and user-friendly. The team is responsive, helpful, and highly knowledgeable about the cloud ecosystem. They also release new features quickly in response to user feedback. Astrato integrates smoothly with live Snowflake connections, ensuring that dashboards always show the latest data without requiring extracts. The dashboard builder is intuitive, making it easy to design clean, professional visualisations and offering business users a seamless, interactive experience. Additionally, the documentation is well-organised and clear, which helps new users get started quickly and provides dependable answers when needed.

What I find less appealing about Astrato is that, being a relatively new tool, some of its features are not YET as polished as those found in more established BI platforms. Additionally, working with very large or complex datasets can occasionally impact performance. While these issues are not deal-breakers for us, they are aspects where further improvement could make the product even better.

Astrato is solving the problem of making data both accessible and timely across the organisation. By connecting directly to Snowflake, it removes the need for extracts and ensures that dashboards always show the latest information. This means our business teams can make faster, more confident decisions based on real-time data. It also reduces the dependency on me as the only BI analyst at Doctena, since business users can explore dashboards and answer many of their own questions without needing SQL skills. As a result, I can spend less time on repetitive reporting tasks and more time focusing on strategic analysis that creates greater value for the company.

I like that I can quickly create and update dashboards without needing technical help. The interface feels straightforward, and the data is always live and accurate. Being able to add comments and updates directly in the dashboards is especially useful (using writeback) it keeps everything in one place and avoids the usual spreadsheet chaos.

**What do you dislike about Astrato?**

Some features are still being improved, and occasionally I need to find workarounds for formatting or layout using Astrato Actions. Nothing that blocks my work, as Actions are incredibly flexible and powerful, but it requires some thinking to get implemented.

**What problems is Astrato solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our HR data from different systems has been consolidated into Snowflake, but without a good BI tool it was still hard to access. Astrato makes it simple for me to track things like turnover, open roles, and time-to-hire directly from that data without waiting on IT.

For example, I can see live dashboards on recruitment and attrition, and share them with managers instantly. The writeback feature also lets me capture comments or updates in the same place, which avoids going back to spreadsheets. It saves me a lot of manual work and gives the business a clearer picture of what’s happening with our people.

Its integration with snowflake is seamless, which meant a  speedy implementation.

2) Its an OpEx model, in other words we pay for all the services we use on the go.
3) Easy for non-coders.

1) Limited sources to connect data from.
2) Cannot handle large amounts of data that easily.
3) Query performance is not that good compared to other BI tools out there.
