  ### 11. Gave me the power of a SAN replication, without the price of a SAN

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ryan J. H. | IT Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Arcserve UDP?**

Utilizing the block level backup features, encrypting while transferring, and day-to-day replication with ease. Installation was a breeze, fired up the nodes and backup plans quickly. SLA profiles was a breeze, along with the general task driven data planning of backup, incremental, full. The ability to kick-start to a remote RDS - was a huge task, but now able top replicate daily in under 30 minutes. Holding 3-6 months of recoverable data.

**What do you dislike about Arcserve UDP?**

License management when upgrading from 6.5 to 7 under contract. Have had to reactivate 3x now! Outside of that, it has been a reliable backup solution. Upgrading was otherwise simple.

**Recommendations to others considering Arcserve UDP:**

If you are looking for a simplex licensing model per-core, heavy on VMWare or Hyper V - but can't quite justify Veeam - this is a solid solution for DR.

**What problems is Arcserve UDP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have physical storage, local storage- migrating and creating a on-the-fly DR plan was a challenge with other products. Ideally, wanted a SAN structure to replicate day-to-day incremental changes offsite over WAN. ArcServe gave us the ability with a competitive pricing -

  ### 12. We have stopped worrying about the company's backups.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2019

**What do you like best about Arcserve UDP?**

If I can highlight something, it is that it works fast and very well. Additionally, the final space occupied by the backups after deduplication is negligible compared to the total volume of information to be backed up. I also have to highlight the ability to virtually restore a failed machine within the UDP itself. The ability to replicate between 2 UDP Appliances in different geographical locations very easily is an ideal solution to not worry about disasters.

**What do you dislike about Arcserve UDP?**

Something that doesn't quite convince me is the construction of some custom reports. In my opinion, this is the part I would improve in case the default reports are not useful.

**Recommendations to others considering Arcserve UDP:**

For IT managers looking to definitively resolve the tasks of safeguarding corporate information by implementing a Disaster Recovery solution, I think it is a very good solution.

**What problems is Arcserve UDP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Previously, we had another backup system. After switching to Arcserve UDP, the first thing we noticed is a lot of reliability, in addition to not needing huge amounts of space to back up our entire organization. We have a hybrid corporate email environment, and it allows us to back up all Exchange online and on-premises mailboxes without any additional licenses. The ability to spin up virtual machines from backups on the UDP appliance is wonderful for getting by in an emergency.

  ### 13. Simple & Efficient

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luca M. | Infrastructure Project Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2019

**What do you like best about Arcserve UDP?**

ARCSERVE...I use it since 10 years ago and I've never changed it for another solution because until now I've not found any other software that can compete with it.
It's simple, efficient and his processes do what they are made to do.

**What do you dislike about Arcserve UDP?**

Yes, there is only a point that I can describe with light negative words...it's the managing of his DataBase...in the past with the VLDB (old DB format), manage the DB was a horror story. Now, migrating to SQL DB, it's quite simple but hard to contain his growth

**Recommendations to others considering Arcserve UDP:**

In one of my previous job experience, the slogan of a Company was "truth well told", and we can apply to ARCSERVE

**What problems is Arcserve UDP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fast restore and recover point.
The data backuped are immediately available to solve the user requests or to solve any other kind of incident that my company has had in the past years.
With a new colleague, I've made an Arcserve competition handover, because we've decided that he will be the new Backup Administrator. He has immediately understood the ARCSERVe functionalities, and he started immediately to manage it. So very simple to manage and, as already written, do what it is made to do.

  ### 14. Solid product, generates good backups

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Arcserve UDP?**

The recovery process is easy and we always get good backups. Excellent value for the price. Other products can do more, but not at this price. It was a great complimentary product to our other more robust backup solutions. I would definatly recommend this for any SMB looking for a straight forward backup soultion for a few physical servers.

**What do you dislike about Arcserve UDP?**

The ui seems a bit slow and clunky at times but it is fairly intuitive. It is nice to have the web ui, but it could be improved. Aside from that there isn't any other negatives.

**Recommendations to others considering Arcserve UDP:**

Arcserve is a great product for the price. If you are looking for more than a simple and easy to use bare metal solution look elsewhere

**What problems is Arcserve UDP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have used Arcserve udp for years to backup our bare metal servers and could not ask for more at their price point.Simple and easy scheduled backup and just as easy restores. We relied on this product for years.

  ### 15. Implemented many customers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gayan K. | System Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 09, 2020

Arcserve UDP backup sollution.Total protection, recovery and availability for systems, applications and data.

**What do you dislike about Arcserve UDP?**

Nothing to say special to dislike abut Arcserve.

**What problems is Arcserve UDP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Recover the data if gone lost by the disaster

  ### 16. Good all round product

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2020

**What do you like best about Arcserve UDP?**

Simplicity in setting up the product and it various integrations to other products

**What do you dislike about Arcserve UDP?**

Web interface, would have liked an application GUI

**What problems is Arcserve UDP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cloud backups

  ### 17. Arcserv Backup is good for Business

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew L. | Senior Network Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 04, 2020

**What do you like best about Arcserve UDP?**

The centralized console and reporting make things very easy for a large MSP such as ourselves. We can view everything from the top and drill down to learn more. The install is also very easy and support is very responsive.

**What do you dislike about Arcserve UDP?**

We generally don't have any issues with the product.

**What problems is Arcserve UDP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are backing up over 75 different clients and hundred servers all from one console. We have previously used multiple products and had to maintain our own storage and servers.Moving to an all cloud solution has saved significant dollars by reducing hardware to none and lowering bandwidth usage.

  ### 18. Well rounded backup solution that lets us set it and forget it.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Arcserve UDP?**

The simplicity of being able to recover VMs with just a click, and the reporting and dashboard that show that our systems are fully backed up and protected. Also, excellent compression means we are able to store significant quantities of backups and data using just a small amount of storage. We likely will be backing up our data to a cloud storage (also built in) within the year.

**What do you dislike about Arcserve UDP?**

The inability to do a cloud backup while also doing mirror backups to a secondary device. In an ideal world, I’d prefer to have all backups from the primary UDP go to our secondary UDP appliance and also to the cloud.

**What problems is Arcserve UDP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Unified backups without need for tapes. Tapes often fail and can be difficult to use when recovering data. This system solves that.

  ### 19. Great training!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 03, 2020

**What do you like best about Arcserve UDP?**

Structured scenarios and news related to newest topics in this area.

**What do you dislike about Arcserve UDP?**

We need that training more often, so please schedule it more often!

**What problems is Arcserve UDP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Back-up and Disaster Recovery !

  ### 20. Arcserve UDP

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tony G. | Sr. Network Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Arcserve UDP?**

The best thing about UDP is the ability to perform 'Instant VM'. Rather than trying to recover and restore a server, just spool up a VM based on the last backup!

**What do you dislike about Arcserve UDP?**

The thing about UDP is it is difficult to understand sometimes. The inability to restore individual Linux files easily (requires 'reverse replication') does hamper it's usefulness in that area.

**What problems is Arcserve UDP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are covering more data now with UDP than we did with tape and getting more copies.
We also use Arcserve hybrid-cloud for offsite data retention.

  ### 21. Best Backup Products I've used in years

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jerry S. | Senior Systems Administrator, Computer & Network Security, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Arcserve UDP?**

The UDP is easy to set up out-of-box. Even setting up replication is easily accomplished. The unit we employed also has the ability to spin up a "virtual server" from the last backup which makes disaster recovery effortless

**What do you dislike about Arcserve UDP?**

The only shortcoming that I have discovered is the UDP does not send out emails for Linux backup failures.

**Recommendations to others considering Arcserve UDP:**

You can't best the ease of use, yet security if the data.

**What problems is Arcserve UDP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backups are assured. But even better, the data is easily restored.

  ### 22. Good product

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cyrille P. | RSI, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 05, 2019

**What do you like best about Arcserve UDP?**

ArcSerc is a very good product that is easy to use. I have been using ArcServ for 6 years now. Whether it's backup or restoration, it's really very simple.

**What do you dislike about Arcserve UDP?**

The problem with arcserv is at the licensing level, the portal is not very user-friendly.

**What problems is Arcserve UDP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The big advantage is in the installation and configuration. Everything is easy. The problem I encountered was with the licenses. I called support, which provided me with the solution.

  ### 23. Nothing but problems

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 27, 2019

**What do you like best about Arcserve UDP?**

Not a lot, instant VM I guess, impressive de-dupe

**What do you dislike about Arcserve UDP?**

Lack of meaningful reports, missing info on reports, product is flaky - works one night, not the next, recovery takes an age - 30-40 minutes to load a backup set, and if you've got the wrong date, 30-40 minutes more for the next one ad infinitum. Search is hopeless. Support takes a loooong time. Was fine for small PoC, scaling up to 00's brings nothing but pain. 'Agentless' backups can't cope with more than a handful of nodes - ended up having to install agents everywhere - which we wanted to get away from

**What problems is Arcserve UDP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Absolutely none, should have stuck with DPM

  ### 24. Product review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Victor H. | Network Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Arcserve UDP?**

I like the product because it is very reliable when it comes to backing up data and restoring the data. I've had good experience with this product for the past 10 years. I'm planning to upgrade our existing 7100 appliance in a few months.

**What do you dislike about Arcserve UDP?**

Overall it's a good product, however, I would like for the tech support to be more faster. Tech support is great. I just think that the call back should be faster.

**Recommendations to others considering Arcserve UDP:**

It's a great product. Give it a try and you will not regret it.

**What problems is Arcserve UDP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Faster and reliable data restoration. The interface is very user friendly and easy to perform any tasks.

  ### 25. Quick, simple and keeps on working

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John R. | Network Administrator, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Arcserve UDP?**

The backups are quick, compared to the tape system we used to have, its extremely quick. Especially once the original seeding is done, the incrementals take almost not time at all to go through.

**What do you dislike about Arcserve UDP?**

Sometimes when our replication box disconnects (network issue) the merge jobs then don't run properly when it reconnects so it tends to fill up more than it should. Not a huge deal, just means I have to hop in once a month or so and clean it up.

**What problems is Arcserve UDP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Making sure we have reliable back ups of all data an email. So far its worked like a charm.

  ### 26. Arcserve UDP

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jindřich R. | Technical Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 27, 2019

**What do you like best about Arcserve UDP?**

Arcserve UDP is really easy to use and it has rich feature set for both Windows and Linux. Global deduplication is really market leader technology for our market.

**What do you dislike about Arcserve UDP?**

Seperate product for tapes, which means, that you need to use another old fashion interface if you need to manage advanced tape features.

**What problems is Arcserve UDP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One management for servers, workstations, windows, linux, 3-2-1 backup with easy to managed interface.

  ### 27. Old-school paradigm, but still does the job

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Peter B. | IT Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Arcserve UDP?**

The Arcserve UDP is an effective backup, especially in our case, were other VM-only, agentless backups wouldn't work. The interface is relatively easy to navigate. The system is reliable.

**What do you dislike about Arcserve UDP?**

It's not the easiest nor most intuitive to set up and use. There are some stability issues with both the server and the agents. There are times where a scheduled backup gets missed because an agent crashed or is locked. The agent's poor state isn't known until the backup fails.

**What problems is Arcserve UDP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've been able to back up older OS machines, and special duty servers that other solutions simply can't

  ### 28. Great Product Needs better insights into chronic problems

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 04, 2020

**What do you like best about Arcserve UDP?**

Functional and has minimal issues backing up client data

**What do you dislike about Arcserve UDP?**

restores of multiple individual users must be done individually. User creation is a pain when you want to delegate specific clients. Generates an email on job completion but we struggle to identify chronic issues. Clients would also like to see data storage per location.

**Recommendations to others considering Arcserve UDP:**

Great product. Works from a technical perspective but it requires some extra effort to maintain and manage. Requires oversight from technicians responsible and doesn't have great customer reporting.

**What problems is Arcserve UDP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reliable cloud backups

  ### 29. Some good and some bad

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Hardware | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Arcserve UDP?**

There helpful sometimes but never finish the job. I have to do a lot on my own and google these issues with arcserve backup jobs, and BMR as well

**What do you dislike about Arcserve UDP?**

There lack of customer service and very argumental instead of listening and helping us out

**Recommendations to others considering Arcserve UDP:**

n/a

**What problems is Arcserve UDP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Restore BMR and creating an ISO on my own, and the tech. refused to send me the ISO file and I had to do it myself and took me more time to research for 4 days how to create an ISO from BMR

  ### 30. Reliable service for offsite data backup

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 11, 2020

**What do you like best about Arcserve UDP?**

Ease of use for adding agents, backup reports and restoring files when needed.

**What do you dislike about Arcserve UDP?**

One disadvantage might be having to charge customers per GB instead of flat rates for tiers

**What problems is Arcserve UDP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have had to use file recovery to recover from ransomware for clients and it worked very well.

  ### 31. Arcserve UDP is a great product

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Scott B. | IT Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 29, 2019

**What do you like best about Arcserve UDP?**

It is great how it combines many types of backups into an easy to use console.

**What do you dislike about Arcserve UDP?**

There is little to dislike about UDP. Their licensing and registration could use some work but once it is setup it is fine.

**Recommendations to others considering Arcserve UDP:**

Do your homework and make a decision based on your specific goals.

**What problems is Arcserve UDP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We backup VMWare ESXi servers, HyperV servers, as well as Physical Servers. Those servers consist of a mixture of Linux and Windows OSes, all are backed up and can be restored easily.

  ### 32. Move from Arcserve Backup to UDP

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stefan S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 06, 2019

**What do you like best about Arcserve UDP?**

Modern Console. The UDP works fine every day.

**What do you dislike about Arcserve UDP?**

Sometimes the UDP Console doesn't want to start. Takes very long to start the Indentity service.

**What problems is Arcserve UDP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We backup on HDD Storage. Night time is enough to backup all data.

  ### 33. Our best backup project yet

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sascha D. | IT Consultant, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2019

**What do you like best about Arcserve UDP?**

We covered all backup scenarios in 1 solution and are able to use UDP in small and large environments

**What do you dislike about Arcserve UDP?**

The GUI is not always as responsive as expected. Especially when the list of devices handled by a single backup server gets larger.

**Recommendations to others considering Arcserve UDP:**

If you need an affordable, flexible solution. Can run on appliance or customer provided hardware and use various types of storage

**What problems is Arcserve UDP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backup and replicate all data within the company group

  ### 34. Powerful, easy to use and reliable.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris V. | IT Manager , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

Easy setup, reliable, and scalable. Easy and quick file restore. Backup to many locations including cloud, tape and external disk. Highly reliable data protection and recovery with centralized management, built-in data deduplication, and integration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud storage-all in a single package.

**What do you dislike about Arcserve UDP?**
