**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 27, 2019

**What do you like best about Apache Zeppelin?**

Personally, I have had a lot of interaction with this type of tools since they are a fundamental part of my work on a day-to-day basis and I understand that making inquiries to this type of database tends to be a bit complex, the most complex is that if you want it Using at the business level you can easily get out of hand.

**What do you dislike about Apache Zeppelin?**

The interface feels a bit outdated and maybe a little simple it would be advisable to follow the approach that is giving you confluence to enrich your interfaces
I also feel little control of the graphics and the operations of the graphics

**Recommendations to others considering Apache Zeppelin:**

I would like to see a better richer and more modern interface, the possibilities of exporting to PDF with templates and a lot of graphics enrichment

**What problems is Apache Zeppelin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

the truth is that I am looking for a business reporter who can compete against tableu or power bi at the business level but without its high costs

  ### 5. Awesome notebook interface

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shraddha B. | Senior Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Apache Zeppelin?**

The best thing is it interprets the code very easily, removing the hassle of you integrating language specific import statements in the notebook.

**What do you dislike about Apache Zeppelin?**

I feel that autocomplete should be provided. it would really help the developer.
Apart from that, printing values of variables in every run makes output pretty clumsy. though we can disable it, but it would be better that by default it should not be displayed.

**Recommendations to others considering Apache Zeppelin:**

following are my suggestions.
1. provide auto complete.
2. by default disable variable value display.
3. Disabling variable values should not suppress error messages.

**What problems is Apache Zeppelin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used Zeppelin at work. I provided access to my jar(code) to the customers through Zeppelin notebook.

  ### 6. A web-based notebook that enables interactive data analytics @ApacheZeppelin zeppelin.incubator.a...

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

No Cluster integration. Doesn't allow to close browser and reopen

**What problems is Apache Zeppelin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

An integrated development environment for R, with a console, syntax-highlighting editor that supports direct code execution. Publish and distribute data products across your organization. One button deployment of Shiny applications, R Markdown reports, Jupyter Notebooks, and more. Collections of R functions, data, and compiled code in a well-defined format. You can expand the types of analyses you do by adding packages.

processing/modeling data from power usage

  ### 8. Pretty cool product, but not quite production ready.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Spencer S. | Sr. DevOps Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about Apache Zeppelin?**

Easily able to add sql queries and show the data in multiple formats. Really useful for a quick and dirty BI tool.

**What do you dislike about Apache Zeppelin?**

Still buggy for production usages. Changing anything graphically (colors/logos/etc) requires rebuilding the entire project.

**What problems is Apache Zeppelin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Used it connect Amazon Redshift queries to a front-end. Made for an easy BI tool to create a PoC.

Apache Zeppelin seemed to have a lot of promise.

**What do you dislike about Apache Zeppelin?**

After several weeks of just trying to get it to work on the machine, it was dropped in favor of something else.

**Recommendations to others considering Apache Zeppelin:**

Avoid trying to run this on a Windows machine, including Windows subsystem for Linux or virtual machine. The experience is maddening.

**What problems is Apache Zeppelin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We wanted to use Zeppelin to run data analytics with Hadoop and Spark. We realized no benefits.

**What do you dislike about Apache Zeppelin?**

The learning curve and syntax format is somewhat nuanced so you need to be sure you write things appropriately.

**Recommendations to others considering Apache Zeppelin:**

When using this tool, be sure this is what you are looking for in the long term otherwise just go with the more in-depth data analysis tools

It must be constructed and can be laborious at times. This may result in more time being spent on organization compared to using other platforms or frameworks.

**Recommendations to others considering Apache Zeppelin:**

N/A

**What problems is Apache Zeppelin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Data Analytics. Through Zeppelin, our office is able to conduct more data analysis and feedback. We use this to help understand our data more.

  ### 14. Collaborative Data Science Notebook

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2018

**What do you like best about Apache Zeppelin?**

Zeppelin provides a unified notebook to collaborate data science/data analysis methods and techniques. It powers visualization to big data analytics, especially Apache Spark. On the team level, each team member collaborates his/her analytics in one shared workspace. On the individual level, Zeppelin utilizes multiple data analytics technologies in one notebook! For instance, one paragraph could be Scala-Spark code that processes the data in a specific way, which can be visualized in another paragraph using R.
Additionally, Zeppelin provides very interactive visualization with Big Data.

**What do you dislike about Apache Zeppelin?**

Zeppelin has some UI bugs. For example, some of the graphs appear and disappear in random basis while loading very large data or many users are accessing the same notebook at the same time. Also, sometimes, adding new paragraph does not work immediately. The browser should be refreshed to find the newly added paragraphs in the notebook.
Also, the data filteration does not work correctly.

**What problems is Apache Zeppelin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It communicates the data analytics in a very interactive way to the business users. Also, it makes the collaboration between the team members easier. It saves a lot of time compared with other notebook software, where each team member should push the notebook to a source control (e.g. GIT).
